Re: Review: The Tata Nexon EV

Anyone facing battery drop-off after 20%, please report it and get the battery changed. I had the same issue and originally thought it was just some battery rebalancing issue. The battery has degraded in 2 years (bought in June 2022). am not sure if this is a batch issue from pandemic supply time.
Tata has replaced the battery in a week.

You surely need a battery replacement. I too had facedexactly similar issues with my Nexon EV Prime- Jan-2022 at around 35k Kms. The Service center replaced my battery under warranty.

Re: Review: The Tata Nexon EV

Curious to know if anyone has installed a subwoofer in the boot of their Nexon EV?

Given the above average performance of the stock speakers, an addition of a subwoofer would be a good addition.

TIA

This is an intuitive option from JBL

https://in.jbl.com/car-audio/JBL+BAS...cgid=car-audio

Can be placed in the spare wheel, under the boot, leaving the boot free for luggage.

I would suggest you not to carry out any modifications on the electrical wiring of an EV. You might already be aware that some of the EV batteries do have some minor issues which might come up anytime during the warranty period (8 years). In such cases you might find difficulty in claiming warranty due to modifications carried out on the factory electrical wiring.

This is due to the charging port placed above the rear tyre which splashes mud. One needs to put your hand in and wiggle around to find a pin which when pulled manually releases the pin. Tata is unable to give a solution till date. Maybe placing a thread and pin in the boot compartment would be more helpful than putting your hand in small space above the tyre. Imagine doing that in the night with low visibility. Anyone has any short cuts?

Many a times the charging gun gets released with door look & unlock, hand brake release or starting the car in ready mode

If the above doesn't work, then manual unlock by pulling the pin down is the final option to unlock the charging gun. It isn't hard once you get the hang of it.

Just FYI that I haven't still faced the stuck charging gun since 6 months I have the Prime.

Max and Tigor don't have this problem as they have a button on the dashboard to unlock.

Cheers

Mine was done during the second (6 month) free service earlier this week, and things have been good so far.
I have been facing this stuck charging gun over the past 10 days. Didn't know that the dealer is doing this FOC, my vehicle had gone for 40k service couple of months ago & they didn't do anything.
Today I will try to clean the area with my pressure washer & see what happens. This is so annoying

Another fault is that yesterday I put the vehicle on charging, all three lights on as usual, however this morning when I checked, vehicle didn't charge at all. With such issues, how can EV be the only mode of transport in a family!

Re: Review: The Tata Nexon EV

Hi, I am a new Nexon EV owner. Wanted to check on the ZConnect app. Even though everything else is fine on the app, the time shown on the app is off. It shows all trip times as zero and trip start time is also incorrect. How can I correct the time in Zconnect app? The time in car instrument cluster is correct.

Re: Review: The Tata Nexon EV

Tata slashes prices of its existing Ev range a day after the Curvv EV launch, as demand slackens. Nexon EV discounts are now at 1.8 lakhs.

Re: Review: The Tata Nexon EV

This is bound to happen. I for one regret purchasing the EV. Paying a premium and just limiting myself to the city drive. Any drive outside the city has to be very clearly planned. Just last week I went to Thane. There wasn't even one charger working and no support. MG Motors and Modi Hyundai refused to help me saying that the charges are only for their customers. The Tata showroom had no charger

Had to drive all the way to Sanpada and waste an hour charging till 80 pct. Again had to stop at HP station at Khalapur for top up. Added 1.5 hours to my journey.

Trying to sell the car, but the value has dropped 60% in 2 years. Never again will I purchase another electric car.

The car is wonderful to drive, spacious, silent, oodles of power but the charging infra in India is pathetic. Add to that the millions of apps that one has to download and multiple wallets to be used.

It’s actually really easy to travel out of town in an EV today. I have never faced any issues in my ZS EV. Did you check Plugshare? You haven’t explained the route you took. By Thane, I assume you went to Bombay but did you start in Pune?

Modi Hyundai, I agree, doesn't offer charging for any other brand of cars. It's sad and unfortunate, yet common across most showrooms.

I'm surprised with MG as I've witnessed other cars, including Nexon EVs, being charged there in the past. The funny thing though is that they don't have a compatible charger for the Comet that they sell themselves.

Like BHP-ian Lobogris said, use the PlugShare app to find the nearest charger. There is one such charging station I've used about a kilometre away from the MG showroom. Additionally, there are few chargers in Hiranandani Estate and more at Raymonds (just outside the Super Car Club Garage) too.

It would be of great help if you can recommend a competent service station/SA that I can deal with in Ernakulam/Muvattupuzha, Kerala to get this issue sorted out. For now I am planning my commute in such a way that I can safely reach back home with 20% balance.

Update:

I was able to reproduce the issue again at a similar SOC (could not take a video though). I dropped the car for the 30K Km service and mentioned about this issue to the Service center. I dropped the car with around 21% SOC so that they could try it from their end as well.

They mentioned that they were able to see the issue and have reported the same to Tata. As per them, they have collected some parameters regarding battery health and shared this with Tata. Tata engineers have now asked to slow charge the car from 19 - 100% and share the data. When I mentioned that I have not renewed the ConnectNext subscription to share the data they requested for, they have asked me to share the console photo when the charging is initiated (at 19%) and then when it is completed.

I am not able to understand what data are they trying to infer from the photos. I have asked them to send out an email clearly explaining what needs to be done to avoid having a situation where what I did is not what they expected. 3 cycles would mean a travel of around 480 kms which would take 2-3 weeks. However the SA seemed reluctant to share any email and mentioned that he will check with his manager and get back. He also mentioned that it is a standard procedure asked to be done for those who have not renewed the ConnectNxt subscription. Curious to know if any of the esteemed members where asked to do the same.

I would urge you to reconsider this unless you have frequent long drives. I mainly use my Nexon EV MR for my office commute. I pay 23,000 in EMIs and save around 10,000 - 12,000 in fuel costs (I have a roof top solar at home). So I am effectively paying only around 10,000 - 13,000 in EMIs.

Added benefits:
Tax Benefits if you are using Old regime and bought the car before Mar 2023.
Use A/C without worries when idling.

I understand it is a pain when there is long travel. I would still take the EV if the round trip is ~ 500KMS as I can manage to mostly cover the same with charging while having food breaks without too much extra time spend (~ 30 mins extra mostly). For reference, a 600 Km trip to Kovalam and back costed me 900Rs in charging which would have costed me around 5000 if I had taken a petrol car. So small delays in charging is insignificant in that case.

If it is more than 500Kms I would prefer to take an ICE car especially if there are elders / kids with me.
