The bigger brother of the I.D.4, will not only be larger but will arrive in 5 seat and 7 seat configurations.

Expect to debut in China later this year with EU seeing it in 2022.

This new series of spy photos have been taken in China, where a few months ago the pre-production units of the model began to be assembled, in one of the facilities of the joint-venture that Volkswagen maintains with SAIC in the Asian giant.

The Volkswagen ID.6 will only be available in a dual-engine and all-wheel-drive configuration.

With 4,915 m in length, 1,890 m in width, 1,780 m in height and 2,965 m between axles, the ID Roomzz has two electric motors that add up to~ 306 horsepower, 102 in the front and 204 in the rear.

The new 7-seater model will have two electric motors with two available power levels, ~300 HP (225 kW) and 410 HP (300 kW) , and 2 battery packs, 77 and 111 kWh , capable of offering a autonomy range of 450 and 600 kilometers

Volkswagen ID.6 is once again in disguise as Peugeot 5008, seen in cold weather tests:

The future Volkswagen ID.6 is the final production version that advanced the Volkswagen I.D Roomz prototype. This will be a large, 3-row crossover of seats that is related to the Volkswagen ID.4, a model with which it shares aesthetics, platform and mechanicals.

This model will be presented in a few months and will have variants of 2 electric motors and all-wheel drive, with powers between 300 and 410 hp. Available battery packs will have capacities of 77 and 110 kWh, allowing the crossover to reach ranges of up to 600 kilometers.

Production Volkswagen ID Roomzz to be China only model confirmed by CEO Ralf Brandstätter.

“We’re working on it, but it’s a China-only model at the moment,” said Brandstätter. “There is a possibility that it might be sold in other markets, but we’re still looking at it.”

ID.6 NEDC range revealed in Chinese MIIT filing

The range of the ID.6 X, produced by the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture, will be 588 km (365 miles) under the NEDC test cycle. That's more than in the concept version - 475 km (295 miles). The real-world value probably will be 400 km (250 miles) or more.

The brief specs from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) do not show battery capacity, but considering energy consumption at 155 Wh/km (249 Wh/mile), the pack must be roughly 90 kWh.

Volkswagen has unveiled the third member of its growing ID range, the ID6. The ID6 is a seven-seater SUV designed for the Chinese market.



It’s based on the ID. Roomzz concept revealed at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show, and has been unveiled at the 2021 iteration of the Shanghai expo. It’ll be built at two separate locations in China, and will likely go on sale in North America, too. But a European launch seems off the table.

Like the brand’s ID.3 hatchback and the smaller ID.4 crossover, the ID.6 is based on the VW Group’s modular electric car platform, called MEB. At 4,880mm long, it’s roughly the same size as the VW Touareg combustion-engined SUV, and is comfortably the largest production vehicle on the MEB platform. Its additional 300mm in length compared with the ID.4 means that a third row of seats is possible.



Volkswagen has revealed two versions - the ID.6 Crozz and the ID.6 X, which will be built at separate factories. The Crozz features a more off-road inspired design with aluminium scuff plates front and rear, while the X appears to be a more road-focussed version of the ID.6. Both cars get their own headlight and taillight arrangements, too.



Full specifications have not been confirmed, but Volkswagen has revealed that despite the ID.6 being its largest car on MEB, it will use the same battery technology as the ID.3 and the ID.4. It will therefore be available with the choice of a 58kWh or 77kWh battery when it comes to usable capacity, while there will also be an all-wheel-drive version with 302bhp, capable of 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 99mph.



According to Chinese NEDC certification, Volkswagen claims a range of 271 miles to 365 miles on a full charge, depending on specification. However, as a means of recording electric car range it is a far more optimistic measurement than the WLTP standard used by Volkswagen in Europe.

Volkswagen has not revealed anything about the ID.6’s charging capabilities either, but it’s more than likely that it sticks with the known standards of the MEB platform. That would mean a maximum recharging rate of 125kW when hooked up to a CCS rapid charger.



The cabin comes without any physical buttons or switches. The dashboard is home to a 12-inch central touchscreen display, while a secondary form of input is the Hello ID. voice control, which is given a presence in the cabin in the form of a narrow strip of light between the dashboard and the windscreen. Volkswagen calls this intuitive feature the ID. Light.
