Kia's rollout of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) has shifted up a gear with the confirmation of seven dedicated electric models due to launch by 2027, with first due next year.



Kia confirms accelerated electrification plan; expects electric cars to account for 25% of sales by 2029.

The plan for seven dedicated EVs expands on Kia’s previously announced Plan S strategy, which will result in it having 11 EVs (some as variants of existing models) on sale within the next five years.

“Kia has sold more than 100,000 BEVs worldwide since the introduction of our first mass-produced BEV in 2011, the Kia Ray EV,” said Kia president and CEO Ho Sung Song. “By refocusing our business on electrification, we're aiming for BEVs to account for 25% of our total worldwide sales by 2029.”

Most will be based off its new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), with claims of “best-in-class interior spaciousness” for each.

Charging infrastructure is also an area that Kia and the wider Hyundai Motor Group will invest in. In Europe, more than 2400 Kia-branded EV chargers will be installed at dealers, and there are plans to accelerate that in line with the market.

I remember KIA displaying electric cars in it's AP plant. Also they released an official statement saying that they have 3 electric cars in production pipeline about 2 years back. Are they planning to produce and sell them in India? There's no news about these vehicles later. I did not even find any mention about upcoming EV cars from Kia in KIA's plans for India thread.

One of the cars, which looks like a Sedan Kia Niro EV, it has 455 kms range advertised on it's bonnet.

Kia to reveal its first dedicated EV, New design direction next month.

Kia will adopt a simple naming scheme for its electric vehicles, EV1 through EV9. It’s not clear what the first vehicle to be revealed will be called, but the company showed us a teaser image of nine distinct vehicles, including closeups of two of them – a midsize crossover and a small hatchback. We’d assume that one of those vehicles will be the company’s next reveal.

Each future Kia EV is expected to ride on E-GMP architecture, which offers up to 310 miles (500 kilometers) of range and fast-charging capability. The platform is scalable, and it defaults to rear-wheel drive with all-wheel drive capability

South Korea carmaker Kia's shares jump 14.5% on Apple EV tie-up report.

(Reuters) - South Korea's Kia Corp shares surged to their highest in over two decades on Wednesday after a local media report said the carmaker will sign a 4 trillion won ($3.59 billion) deal with Apple Inc to build electric vehicles. Shares in Kia, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Co, jumped as much as 14.5% to hit its highest since 1997 at 102,000 won on Wednesday

2021 Kia electric performance crossover named EV6

Kia's first bespoke EV will pioneer a simple naming strategy and wear the brand's new logo, the first of which will arrive in the coming weeks.

The EV6 will be the first Kia model to use the new E-GMP platform, which also underpins sister brand Hyundai's new Ioniq 5 crossover. Equipped with 800V charging functionality and lightweight batteries, the modular architecture offers a maximum range of more than 310 miles.

Karim Habib, head of the Kia Global Design Center, said: “The EV6 is the embodiment of both our brand purpose, 'movement that inspires', and our new design philosophy.
