Telangana Government announces new incentives for electric vehicles

State IT minister Mr. KT Rama Rao has announced the new EV policy for the Telangana state. Telangana will be 3rd state in India to offer such EV incentives.

More details on the Telangana Government EV Policy

The Telangana EV Policy promotes EV adoption for end-users, manufacturing of EV and ESS components and setting up of charging infrastructure in the State.

Along with the exisiting EMC and Innovation clusters, the upcoming Mobility and ESS clusters will position Telangana as the leader in the sustainable and renewable energy sector.

Mytrah Energy would be setting up an electric bus manufacturing unit with an investment of ₹2,000 Cr. The firm will add 7,000 more persons to the State's workforce. Great addition to the state’s fledgling EV ecosystem.

Olectra Greentech are setting up an electric bus manufacturing unit with an outlay of ₹300 Cr that will provide employment opportunities to 1,500 persons.

ETO Motors is set to establish an electric vehicles manufacturing unit with an investment of ₹150 Cr. The firm will bring employment opportunities to about 1,500 people in the State.

It seems Telangana Government has withdrawn road tax exemption for EV vehicles effective from 1st August 2023. A poor decision by Government leading to less adoption of EV vehicles
