Hyundai unveiled the 2021 Kona Electric facelift. The new model does away with a grille like pattern at the front end and has clean look now. Changes include new headlights and tail lights, no plastic cladding on the wheel arches, larger 10.25-inch touch screen, side AC vents design, alloy wheels, etc...

Power train and battery capacity are the same as the old version.

Welcome changes that bring the aesthetic aspect of the car up to date, complicated by a lovely shade of blue. The rear does seem to look a bit bulbous without the black cladding though.

We should get the new model in a few months itself as the car is a CBU import. Hope Hyundai has fixed the battery/BCM issue as well.

Hyundai has revealed the refreshed Kona Electric. Apart from a redesigned exterior, the car gets new tech and safety features.



The Kona Electric has been given a new front fascia that looks a lot cleaner without the blanked-out grille. The car gets new headlamps and redesigned LED daytime running lights as well as slimmer tail lamp clusters.



Hyundai is also said to have made the car more aerodynamic. Air intakes are positioned on the front bumper to help reduce turbulence in the wheel wells.



On the inside, the electric crossover gets a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit. The car gets a suite of new safety features including rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot avoidance, leading vehicle departure alert, safe exit warning and rear seat alert.



The Kona Electric is available in two variants - a 134 BHP electric motor paired with a 39.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 201 BHP motor powered by a 64 kWh battery pack. In India, the Kona Electric is offered with the less powerful electric motor.

This looks much smarter than the current one. That said the face got some heavy resemblance with the Tesla Model Y.

Looks very wierd to me. Two sets of headlights, two sets of back light and a lot of space between both of them. Does not look aesthetically pleasing at all. Looks dated already. If you remove the fancy alloys and some bling, will look super bland

I kinda prefer the current looks, should have come with bit more features than what's available now.
Hopefully the battery fire issue is sorted before this hits our shores.

My biggest wish would be for Hyundai to give the facelift softer ride quality. That stiff ride is the car's biggest deal-breaker.

I would like to point to the fact that this vehicle being electric, a facelift is a major opportunity for performance improvement as the team can implement better aerodynamics and tweak the drag co-efficient.

The impact that will have will be significant or, at the very least, noticeable improvement in performance over the ICE counterparts.

The real world tests can indicate whether the Hyundai team grabbed this opportunity or squandered it.

Any news of facelift Kona launch in India? I searched online, only 24cars has recently published the article, stating launch in August 2021, I find Kona the best good looking electric car in comparison to ZS and Nexa

Found a car review from a different country. It's lengthy and explained in detail.

I hope Hyundai brings in the higher capacity battery version to India and if they do then this should eat up a good chunk of MG ZS EV space.
