Volkswagen ID.2 electric car likely to replace the Polo in 2023

Volkswagen is stepping up its EV plans and success is already visible with its current I.D. launches.
Volkswagen ID.3 was the top-selling EV In October 2020 in Europe.

Now VW will bring 2 entry level EV's in the coming years.

The ID.1 and ID.2 Cheaper EVs are in the works and are likely to replace VW's UP and its best selling hatch Polo.

Quote:
The smaller EV would replace the Up! in the VW range. The somewhat bigger vehicle might even oust the Polo, but there doesn't seem to be a decision about this yet.

these tinier entries would ride on the automaker's MEB platform. To follow the naming scheme of the rest, the company might call the tiniest one the ID.1, and the Polo-sized model would be the ID.2

The ID.2 seems to be in a more advanced state.
VW intends it to go on sale as soon as 2023 at a starting price of about €20,000 ($23,900 at current exchange rates). To save money, it might use lithium-iron-phosphate cells for the battery, which is a less energy-dense solution than other types of lithium-ion tech
Quote:
The ID.1 reportedly doesn't arrive until around 2025. Skoda and Seat would get versions of the vehicle, too.

For India, VW might look at these BEV's for enticing the mass market segment in the future and as such will not have any replacement to the current Polo.
