Re: BHPians experience on EV Charging Stations across India (especially non-metros)

A GST panel, comprising state and centre revenue officials known as the Fitment Committee, has upheld the decision to impose 18 per cent GST on the charging of electric vehicles (EVs) at public charging stations, rejecting calls for an exemption.

I had seen this place sometime back but as there were a lot of BLU cars parked, I thought its only for the cabs to get charged. Its good if customers can also use the facilities. BLU Smart cabs have captured a good Taxi market - specially in the Whitefield Area. Uber and Ola are unreliable on Weekdays here in this part specially if you are booking them between 8:30 to 11:30 am mornings or 4:30 to 6:30pm evenings. in case you can book a BLU Smart cab atleast 4 hours early, then you are sure to get a cab. I have used their services a few times now and they are reliable, cabs are nice and Drivers are very courteous.
I assume Aggregators like BLU smart would need such hubs in these localities to scale operations. Having such facilities also helps residents around the place to use such charging infra.
Recently Blusmart has opened up their charging facility for the general public. Depending on their own fleet load (read number of vehicles they need to charge), rest of the charging units are open to public. Their app also works perfectly well.

Re: BHPians experience on EV Charging Stations across India (especially non-metros)

I am not an EV owner, but most probably my next will be an EV. Saw these two chargers at Club Mahindra Madikeri yesterday. I don't know whether these are fast DC charges or AC chargers. According to the watchman, both chargers are working.

Can any respected members explain the charger status?
Thanks

These chargers are at best, what you'd call as destination chargers. They are what customers would use to charge a car overnight after reaching this destination. The onboard chargers on cars will decide how fast AC charging can be done. Many cars would still charge at 3.3 KW/ hr while few new ones will charge at 7.2 Kw/ hr. Only a very few and premium models can charge at higher rates using AC charging. So charging to 100% can take from few hours to almost the whole night depending on the SOC at the start of charging, the battery capacity and the on board charger. These are certainly NOT use full for a quick top up.

These are also different from DC fast chargers that are offered at some hotels and roadside eateries which can charge up the battery to 80% within an hour. They would require a dedicated transformer, higher acquisition costs and a different MOU with the charge provider.
