The best selling EV.. In the country of the blind the one eyed man could be King or maybe murdered for being able to see. After taking away the clackety paraphernalia of the ICE engine the only thing that prevented this 15 lakh car from being priced at 6 lakhs was the monstrosity which they call a battery - nothing more than a storage container for energy that is being produced by the most polluting means possible. yes, it is the best selling EV because there is no real choice. Put out an EV like GM's Wuling or Citroen's Ami or even Renault's City K-ZE and one can then see if a 15 lakh vehicle with a range of 300 Km, which is effectively 200 Km for some, makes any sense at all.
It is rather shameful that located right next to the largest EV manufacturer and user in the world and with a young and growing population that aspires to have their own independence of movement, we have been able to turn out only so few EVs - It seems we aren't really serious about this at all and its a walkover for the best seller.

I have mixed feelings about this. I have long come to disregard any ARAI range claims (fuel efficiency) for ICE vehicles since the all important caveat of being under ideal test conditions makes it redundant for any real world buyer

Not sure why EVs are being held to a different standard.

Of course if you are going to proceed open up the whole FE claims too attached to ICE vehicles - by no less than ARAI themselves.

A couple of questions on the Nexon EV:
Is not having a ‘park’ option a worry? To me it sounds a bit scary to leave in in N with just the handbrake. Is it like leaving an automatic car in N or is there some kind of a locking mechanism that prevents it from moving?

How are the headlights? They are projector but only halogens, I believe. Is there a chance of installing HID or at least LEDs in the stock projectors? Has anyone upgraded the lights? Not having modern LEDs on an EV is sad. I know one would be ill advised to make modifications but I would be curious to know how existing owners feel about its headlights.

Finally, is there any built in TMPS?

Isn't Nexon EV 7.5% of overall Nexon sales? The graph with earlier sales data shows 5%. That's good improvement for the EV, although it could be because of sluggish ICE sales. I think a 5 year goal for policymakers and manufacturers is to have at least 15% of the sales of 10 best selling cars in EV. I think 4 from Maruti stable, the Venue, Sonet and i20 from Kia/Hyundai, 2 from Mahindra and the existing 2 from Tata should make up the 10 cars. If 15% of sales of these cars can be switched to EV in 5 years, that would cascade to other manufacturers, suppliers, ancillary businesses etc. and set India on a path to decent EV adoption by 2035 and beyond.
