2026 VW ID.2: The Supermini-Sized EV Coming With A €20k Base Price.

-The electric motor is mounted at the front instead of the rear, which makes the ID.2 a FWD-only vehicle, allowing for more luggage space at the back and a frunk for charging ports and cables.

-For cost efficiency, the battery packs in the MEB Eco platform will used lithium-ion phosphate cells instead of lithium-ion nickel manganese cobalt one.

-The €20,000 ($23,294) advertised starting price for the ID.2 would make it considerably cheaper compared to B-Segment EVs currently available

-The production of the VW ID.2 will probably take place in Spain, alongside its sister models.

Volkswagen ID.2 will be the future electric versions of Polo and T-Cross.

Upcoming electric car will have two variants: ID.2 Urban, similar to a Polo and ID.2 X, equivalent to a T-Cross - debut will be in 2025.

Volkswagen and Skoda tease their entry level city cars through sketches:

these brands took advantage of today's announcement to unveil a sketch of their vehicle, giving a taste of their silhouette. The latest on this is all about the ID 2all. The concept version is already here and the production version coming up in 2025 with sales set to begin in 2026.

VW to delay ID.2 production ramp-up to 2026.

Volkswagen apparently does not intend to ramp up production of the ID.2 to significant numbers until May 2026. In March 2023, VW provided a preview of the Polo-sized small electric car, for which a base list price of just under €25,000 is being targeted.

The model is to be the first electric Volkswagen to be offered for less than 25,000 euros in the basic version.
