The ID.2, VW's smallest electric SUV, could cost less than 20,000 euros.



VW could shrink the ID.4, bringing a more affordable electric SUV the size of the T-Cross.

This will be the SUV version of the ID.1

It is expected to be launched in 2023 and cost less than 20,000 euros.

The basis should be a shortened version of the MEB platform.

VW could share it according to the current trend, so that the daytime running light is composed of the LED band and two beams arranged on top of each other on the sides. The rest of the headlights are likely to be outsourced via the side ventilation slots. Other features of ID.4, such as the basic shape, the large lower air intake or the planking, could be assumed one to one.

Nothing is known about the drives yet, but the base is likely to come with rear-wheel drive. With another engine on the front axle, however, a four-wheel drive for the small car SUV would also be conceivable.

At almost 4600mm and 4700mm, the ID4 and model 3 aren’t by any means, small cars.

A model of segment B with which it aims to revolutionize the market in 2025.

The goal is to get ahead of the competition with the latest generation models, based on the advanced SSP platform, with a significant technological load.

Volkswagen ID.2 will opt for very contained proportions, and with a modern and attractive design, in which the headlights will be much slimmer.

the main reason that delays the arrival of ID.2,that of getting a battery with a higher autonomy so that the final price is between 20,000 and 25,000 Euros that Volkswagen intends.

The SSP platform allows for front and total traction and propulsion conceptions. The electric motor placed at the front and moving the wheels of this axle. An electric motor that will allow different power levels moving between 75 kW and 110 kW, equivalent to 100 and 150 hp. Enough to displace the future crossover.

Volkswagen's I.D 2 rendered, replaces the POLO in Global ( matured) markets.

- VW also intends to go to mass market segments to attract a plethora of cost-sensitive customers, starting with the ID.1 that replaces the e-Up! hatchback.

- Scheduled to arrive in 2023, the city car will receive a B-segment sibling in the guise of the ID.2.

- The subcompact hatchback is supposed to replace the Polo with crossover-ish traits.

Volkswagen has planned to extend its ID range from the bottom.

In 2024 should release an SUV as Volkswagen has been working for more than three years on a more affordable version of the all-electric MEB platform. This work will give birth to the ID.1 and the SUV ID.2

Replacement of the Polo will be the ID. 2 in SUV form.

Volkswagen ID 2: New tech key to affordable EV crossover.

The ID 2 will be the first model built on the new MEB Entry platform that is being developed to allow for ‘affordable’ small EVs.



The MEB Entry models will use lithium-iron-phosphate tech, which the Volkswagen Group estimates will be around 50% cheaper to make than current battery cells.



The MEB Entry platform is likely to allow for a number of battery sizes, ranging from 30kWh to 45kWh in size. That would mean ranges in the region of 120 to 180 miles.

It is understood the £17,000 target price is for the base-spec models with the smallest battery, with higher-specification models likely to cost from around £21,500.

17000 euros? I believe that is the price at which i20 sells in the UK. I hope government lowers the import duties on EVs and Volkswagen is able to import it in India. Sure it won't be priced the same as i20 and will most likely be made in China, but if the demand picks up, I believe Volkswagen will start manufacturing it in India. Affordable EVs with good range is the need right now.

I sincerely hope VW have ironed out all their software niggles in the ID platform. They have had a rough start with many complaints. It shows how difficult it is if you approach making EVs with a ICE mindset.

The Volkswagen Group had originally planned to launch the first MEB Entry model in 2023, but that has been put back by two years due to the challenges of producing cars that can be sold for a profit at the €20,000 (£17,000) target price.

Volkswagen has unveiled the new ID Life concept at the Munich motor show, a compact urban crossover that previews the entry-level £17,000 car due in 2025.

Unlike the rear- and all-wheel-drive ID 3 and ID 4, the ID Life features a single front-mounted motor that produces 231bhp which, VW claims, gives. 0-62mph time of less than seven seconds.

The ID Life uses a specially adapted version of the MEB platform with a shorter, 2650mm wheelbase

Frankly, the concept looks more like a Honda-e in crossover clothing than a smaller ID2. Some of those renders looked far better.

Granted yes, a concept nevertheless, it looks quirky and quite the opposite as one would would expect it to be a smaller ID4.

Volkswagen is plotting a GTX version of the new ID Life concept as part of a commitment to offer performance variants of all its new electric models.



The concept features a 231bhp front-mounted electric motor and a 57kWh battery for a range of 258 miles.

Volkswagen sales boss Klaus Zellmer said, If we talk about GTX, as you know, we have an ID 4 GTX and an ID 5 GTX, and in the long run having a GTX version is something we want for every derivative. So GTX is, of course, also something that we want to have potentially for the ID Life.

With the ID Life study, VW has shown at the IAA 2021 how to imagine an entry-level electric car. The production version should be called ID.1 or ID.2.

Particularly interesting is the price of the ID.1. Around 20,000 euros are targeted as an entry into VW's electrical division. However, it will take until 2025 forthe ID.1 to roll onto the road in series trim.

The dimensions of the ID Life are suitable for urban areas and could thus be adopted for the series: 4.10 meters in length meet 1.84 meters in width and a height of 1.60 meters. The wheelbase is 2.65 meters and promises space conditions as in the compact class. The trunk volume is also impressive for a small car. The 410 to 1285 liters of the study are an ambitious goal for a small e-SUV.

the study is expected to reach 400 kilometers. From 0 to 100 km/h it should go in 6.9 seconds, top speed 180 km/h.
