Mercedes-Benz India has launched the AMG EQS 53+ at Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom, India)











- AMG EQS 53 will get rear axle steering as standard.

- Hyperscreen will offer 3D maps for navigation and even some pre-loaded games.

- AMG EQS will come with a 2-years or 30,000 km service interval and a 10-year battery warranty.

- Mercedes-Benz will set up 'Ultra-fast charging network' in the country with an investment of around Rs 15 crore, to cover 80% of India by end of 2022 and have 140 chargers with a mix of 3 types of chargers.

- The ultra-fast charging network will be exclusively available to all Mercedes-Benz customers, free of cost for the first year



Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 will come to India as a CBU, and later, Mercedes-Benz will also launch a non-AMG version of the EQS 580 which will be locally assembled.

Hope the eqs 580 and later, the 450 comes at a reasonable price.

Most sales advisors were pitching at 1,85 Cr. Even AutoCar had mentioned that this will be CKD. looks, MB India got only a handful allocations so why not sell at maximum profits (unlike iX that BMW priced very low but hardly any deliveries)

With only a few units, they won't be bothered.

MB India has been debuting its CBU models first as a limited edition offering to those who are willing to pay extra to acquire what is essentially a novelty model. It did so earlier too by bringing in the CBU S400d and S450 first in the 2 Cr+ bracket and then introducing the CKD versions with an expected hefty price cut.

Here's hoping that the locally assembled EQS 580 is priced conservatively; ideally between 1.5-1.75 crores so one can choose from an ICE or EV S-Class without stretching their budgets!

CKD must be here very soon. So this is more of a launch edition with all the bells and whistles while the CKD will be watered down just like the S Class.

I would anyday pick the Maybach. You just can’t compare the luxury and extra space offered in that to the EQS. And The other biggest problem is the ground clearance. The EQS will be a garage queen and if feasible a drivers car compared to the Maybach. So that would be the differentiating factor. Happy that the EQS made it here as the first high performance electric car in our market.

Porsche Taycan Turbo S is cheaper, much more faster (0-100kmph in 3.4 s vs 2.9s) and offers better Snob value.

Mercedes-Benz India confirms the EQS 580 will launch on September 21. This will be the first Mercedes EV to be assembled in India.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic will be assembled at the firm’s plant in Chakan, which is a first for the facility as it currently only makes a wide range of internal combustion engine products.
