The all-new BMW iM2 is said to be based on the brand's M2 CS model. This performance-oriented sedan has been electrified, featuring four electric motors offering some serious performance figures. The all-electric iM2 sedan is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2022.

The all-new BMW iM2, with its four electric motors, is said to have a combined power output of 1,341 BHP. The electric sedan is also said to be capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in under 2.5 seconds. Reports also claim that the iM2 has already been around the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife, recording a lap time under seven minutes.

Most of the details have been kept under wraps, however. BMW yet to officially announce anything about the car.

Well well, a fairly good looking BMW, who'd have thought, they were giving Lexus a good run for the money for ugliest cars ever.

Back to the real kidney grille, the separated headlamps (almost copy paste of Elite i20) and slightly curvy proportions. Unfortunately they have too much competition coming up in the electric space for sports cars, given that most electric cars have the same torque, this wouldn't be a stand - out performer either though I suspect the top speed might be at another level, not entirely practical though.

Sad to see an electric M, as if the move downwards from V8 wasn't bad enough. Petrol please.

Re: New BMW iM2 coming in 2022; all-electric sedan with 1,341 BHP

Almost as powerful as the Chiron, double the power of the most powerful M car ever and 3 times as powerful as a regular M2, BMW will have its work cut out before they can launch this car.

To handle power of this sort the Chiron’s brakes have eight pistons at the front and six at the rear and are made from titanium. The chassis is of carbon fiber with rigidity of 50,000 Nm per degree of twist with a flexural rigidity of around 0.25 mm of deflection per ton.

The Chiron also has specially designed and manufactured tyres that cost more than 10 lakhs a pop and while they last more than the Veyron’s they still require very frequent replacement.

Then there’s the suspension, handling, downforce requirements and more. Sure, electric motors reduce the depth of engineering otherwise necessary on the engine front but that is only a limited part of the whole exercise.

BMW have so far only built performance sports cars. They are yet to build even a super car. This will be a Hyper car. That’s quite a leap for any manufacturer.

But if Tesla can build a 1100 bhp Plaid, BMW should be able to build a iM2. Let’s hope they get it right.

M2 goes from one of the very last beautiful looking BMWs to..... that above.

M2 CS for reference:

Although astonished to see the output figures however, I imagine this will not be priced anywhere near what the current M2 costs. If it does indeed get priced close to current M2 I will be happy to look past the ugly : P
