It's basically a Modified E-Rickshaw with Closed Body, Air-conditioning and many more Features with Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery (which is much better than Lead Acid Battery)

re: MG Air electric car spied testing in India (page 3)

IF this sells, why did Mahindra struggle with E20 and end up scrapping it.

Perhaps the market was not ready then and depending on the success here, we may see Mahindra and TATA bringing their own models at sub 10L price point.

1. Petrol/Diesel prices have doubled in the meantime. 2. Petrol/Diesel Car prices have increased by atleast 40%.
3. Mindset of People changed and this is reason for the success of 15Lac+ Nexon EV

I am sure this 4-5lac EV will be a Super-Hit

And to add, Diesels are becoming a rarity and so called SUV form factor and turbo petrols will mean single digit FE in city conditions

Article says 10Lakh, there is no way EV will come at 4-5 lakh as the E20 tin(fiber) can was costing 7-8 lakhs many years ago

When the E20 was launched, lithium ion battery prices were in the range of 300-500$/kwh. Now the LFP battery used on this car is available in the range of 60-100$/kwh.

Even the long range version has 200kms range, which I believe needs just 8-10kwh battery and an OLA S1 scooter size motor. This should not cost more than 4 lakh in my opinion.

A sticker price of 4-5L means the cumulative costs including all material, labor, infra, development etc should be max 3-4L. What kind of car can be produced in that ? Even if it was the size of the Bajaj Qute, it will be more than that.

An ICE is easier - the electricals / electronics are more complex.

You can visit company website https://pmvelectric.com
All details are mentioned there. Also price range is mentioned between 4-5lacs.
It's not a Car, it's a 2-Seater Quadricycle. It requires very less safety norms, etc as compared to Car.
It weighs only 550kg, even less than E-Rickshaw. If E-Rickshaw sells under 70k, then it too can come for 4-5lacs

And it is Chinese, so pricing is achievable too. Hopefully Govt will not allow such moves(anti-dumping laws ?)

UPI qr code is not working. I have tried making the booking but the app security is not allowing to send money. I request the mods to remove the payment link page in case it is indeed spam.

re: MG Air electric car spied testing in India (page 3)

I think it will be a niche product. Not sure how many will spend 10 big ones to buy this as their only car given the overall space constraints. And at that price, the market for the "I have one or two bigger cars, and want a really small one for convenient city commutes" is not that big.

Personally, I don't like the styling that much. The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV "Macaron" edition from the same company looks soo much better to my old eyes:

re: MG Air electric car spied testing in India (page 3)

Waste of time and effort for MG in launching this. Mahindra has E2O and TATA has Nano readily available. Launching them in the EV market is not at all a big task for them. I don't really think the two Indian manufacturers have any expectations on those models as beneficial in Indian market.
