I think we should close/pause this speculative thread for a while. Speculation has only grown to fall flat each week in the last two months.

This is nothing in comparison. The Jimny thread has been making predictions since 2019, what's life without speculation?

Hopefully the long range Nexon will be a reality in a few weeks time.

OT: what does BYD invite means? For a moment I thought Tata is launching car along with BYD.

Hoping Tata breaches the 500km range with the Long range variant. I assume it will do really well and reduce the range anxiety that many face.

I don't know if your expectations are realistic. I assume you mean ARAI and not real world range.

Even Audis and Jaguars at a much higher price point face a lot of difficulty with higher range. I think the range will be comparable to the MG ZS EV, around 300 to 350 real world which in itself is excellent.

Yes I mean ARAI, as the existing ARAI range of nexon is 300. So hoping the long range is around 500 so that real world range would be around 400-420.

The MG ZS EV ARAI range is 460 if I am not mistaken. Even if it is on paper, it surely does have a psychological impact on the consumers.

I think in the Avinya launch videos I heard a mention of 500+km ranges with their Pure EV (Gen3) architecture - since Nexon is still their ICE-based platform, architectural efficiencies will be harder to capture. I'm sure they are taking a leaf out of Tesla's book with structural battery packs and optimized front and rear crash structures in their newest platform, for sure they will achieve 500km+ ARAI certified range with it (maybe even real world since Indian duty cycle is better suited for EVs!)

Worse, for a second I thought they're asking invitees to bring their own device, err...EV.

re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

A longer range is surely needed. However, even if the Nexon or another EV does get a 500km range, it would still be problematic to take these cars on trips where one will have to depend on non-commercial charging points - including points in homes of friends/relatives. Charging infra must develop hand-in-hand with increasing sales of EV's

Speculation and opinionation is the state of many a thread, especially threads that "discuss" new & yet to be launched cars.
