It won't. Adding 10kwh battery pack won't mean the range increases linearly, the added weight brings down efficiency as well.
I am guessing ARAI range will be near 380 to 400 and real word range might be 280 to 320.

Yes, I think with a real world of 300 - 320KM, and with not a substantial price increase, it may be something which a lot of fence sitters may find to their liking.

However, I am also wondering if the increased battery would eat into the boot space, which would then lower the bag carrying capacity, like the Honda City EV loosing 200L for the battery. For someone looking for outstation drives, that may be a problem.

Also increasing the price too much would land into the MG ZS EV - Excite territory. Wonder how that would play out, since I believe ZS EV Excite version would still be a better featured, powered car compared to Nexon.

re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

I reckon that the real world range will be around 250kms - 260kms only, with the TATA marketing team claiming a bloated up ARAI figures of more than 400kms.

The present 30kwh battery pack can shell out a real world range of 200 with modest driving.
Like someone pointed out rightly here, the added 10kwh weight of the battery will bring down efficiency further. Regen too plays a huge role in extending range.

Only if regen levels were more strong/adjustable, the vehicle can add more range but I don't think the new Nexons will have adjustable regen.

In comparison, the MG ZS EV with a 42.5kwh usable battery pack is able to deliver 300kms with sedate driving at 80km/hr and smart use of Regen.

Looks like they are going to name the long range version as Nexon EV Max.
Unless it comes with the top trim only the name will become really wrong with something like Nexon EV XZ+ Lux Max. And then the dark addition adding another word to the already long name.

Long-range Tata Nexon EV bookings open unofficially

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the long-range version of the Nexon EV later this month. However, according to reports, some dealerships have already started taking bookings for the electric SUV.

The long-range Nexon EV will be positioned above the existing model. It could feature minor cosmetic changes, including new alloy wheels.

The long-range version is expected to pack a 40 kWh battery that is said to offer more than 400 km of range. The new battery pack is likely to power a more potent electric motor.

I am currently experiencing the Chennai Summer and the ventilated seats alone could make me shift my booking from the MG ZS EV to the Nexon EV Max. Of course the price, range and the quoted delivery time will also be a factor in my decision making.

My booking for the MG ZS EV Excite has been paid for in 10/2021, I have been informed that I will be in the front of the queue once the launch happens in a couple of months.

re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

With all the speculations around "longer range" associated with the upcoming iteration of the Nexon EV, I would want all enthusiasts to take range-related claims with a pinch of salt. ARAI-certified range is a mirage, not very different from the ARAI-certified FE for ICE cars. As a Nexon EV owner, I have not be able to achieve anything above 200-210 km while the claimed range is 312 km, although I have to agree that my current driving conditions are far from ideal - minimum 2 people on board most of the time, a/c working overtime due to current weather, etc. but then these are "real world" conditions which the vehicle will be subjected to for most of its lifetime.

So, all those who plan to buy an EV (Nexon or otherwise), please assume that you will NOT get anything more than 65-70% of the ARAI-claimed range unless you drive solo, without a/c, without infotainment, and under 60 km/hr

For free spirited driving, what would the range be like for current nexon ev with 4 passengers and AC on?

I assume that by "free spirited driving" you mean aggressive (not necessarily rash) driving with sudden accelerations (to enjoy the amazing torque of the motor) etc. If so, and with 4 passengers on board with a/c on full-time, I would say about 160-180 km in D mode and 140-160 km in S mode. Of course, other factors like gradients, traffic, etc. will also play a part.

re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

The nexon EV even with the current range makes a lot of sense I feel. I recently sold my Polo diesel which barely crossed 60k but was 8 years old in NCR. Have been trying for over a month to schedule a test drive of taigun 1.5 and the SA sent me 1.0 even though I told him clearly only interested in GT DSG. Moreover when asked about the AC issues he just said “Sir service centre will know about such problems, we have no idea”

Last week my focus shifted to Nexon EV, though if I compare the running costs of petrol vs EV it doesn’t make sense for me at all. But if I want a fun to drive car below Taigun 1.5 I can not find any other option. All the reviews mention it’s a lot of fun and much better than its petrol and diesel versions.

With my running, even if it gives me a range of 150+ in city, I will be more than happy as I have another car for highway runs. Have scheduled the nexon test drive for next week and hoping this will be the end of search. Do not want cruise control / Long range and everything that’s going to come in the 11 may version.

Given your use case, you will really enjoy the current Nexon EV It is a very zippy car and will put a grin on your face every time you start riding that flat torque "curve" right from the word go. Turn the dial to S and the grin will turn to sneer, as you leave those 2.x lit turbo petrol's and diesel's behind when the signal turns green. Only area of compromise could be fit & finish levels, being a Tata product - although it has come a long way since the erstwhile Indica days.

I wish they do keep the current model on sale along with the long range. Not everyone wants Nexon EV with 400 kms range.

wow.. Park mode finally. I am always jittery when parking on an heavy incline. With regards to RIMS, I was hoping for a more aerodynamic one, didn't knew that Wheel rims play a heavy role in reducing drag and affect aero dynamics, which in turn can increase range.

The current design looks sufficient. Wheels can introduce drag - IF they are exposed to the passing air. The wheel arches have a bulge, which pushes the air away from the wheels. And the vehicle does have aero-flaps to reduce the drag further.
