Another tweet teaser from tata ev mobility.
Going by the series of tweets, this looks like a lifestyle product, more than a more common and utilitarian Nexon long range.
Like like Sierra (may be with a new name, but Tata might retain it to pull at us 90s-gen-kids-now-adults' heartstrings!

Could be the Punch EV possibly, As Shailesh Chandra quoted recently that they would rather produce a small SUV EV than a small hatchback because the larger portion of the cost comes from batteries, which would remain same, body in white costs are mostly similiar and margins fatter on so called SUVs. However, if they do launch to Punch EV, i do hope that they don't charge a premium even above the already slightly overpriced product.

A Punch EV would solve the NVH and "lack of Power" problems that the Punch ICE is supposed to suffer from

It would be hilarious if they went like," Oops! Sorry guys we thought it's already 2024. Looks like we are 2 years early. Everyone go home"

On a serious note, this in no way is a new car. I'm betting this is some edition on Nexon EV. Remember how much hype Tata created before Nexon EV?. The stunt with Milind and so many things on social media? That's how they launch a car. This, in all probability is a sticker job. Although I'd love to be proven wrong.

Would be really cool if it was a new concept or probably altroz ev /nexon long range. But I kind of have a feeling that it might be something other than the CAR, maybe their new UI for EVs or just unveiling their sustainable approach towards EV lineup. But it's just a guess and I really hope they launch NEXON L.R. /ALTROZ that day

This one clearly says Evolve to Electric and not Born Electric.

The pictures like the jungle, rockies, mountain suggests it could be an SUV, cSUV, either the long range Nexon or the Punch EV.

Who knows, even Harrier was seen testing, could it be the Harrier EV?

That's the first mod I'm going to do on my Nexon once the parts are available.

BTW 20th April has come and gone. What happened to the Long Range version launch?

re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

Tata will surely launch the Punch EV sooner than later. Thus, they will have the first-mover advantage of a mass market EV since MG and Hyundai have also announced affordable EVs in the near future. While the BEV technology is continuously evolving, Tata's experience with the Nexon EV and continuous R&D will help them drive in a competent and affordable product albeit with a smaller battery pack. It's clear that the Tigor EV has not appealed to prospective private EV buyers, nor was it their strategy. Not sure as to how Altroz EV will be received. However, EVs will help Tata iron out their grey areas of transmission & gearbox. But, on the 29th I guess it's going to be the Nexon LR!

Nexon EV has very slow and outdated AC and DC charging capabilities. It is limited to 3KW AC while other EVs can use 7, 11 or even 22KW. Similarly, on DC, it is limited to 22KW while other EVs like the ZS or Kona can go to 80KW and more expensive ones can touch 350KW.

Nexon is positioned at a particular price point for a purpose, for that cost very limited things can be offered, naturally.

It’s not built with high voltage architecture and going higher will push costs making it DOA.

If a car need to support higher AC charging capability, then significant amount of inverter hardware need to be part of car.

For higher DC charging, car needs better thermal and advanced BMS setup.

In both of above cases, car will naturally catapult into next pricing categories.

My employer makes world’s fastest DC charger and there are very very limited set of cars which can take 350kW of power (I hope you’re aware it’s only peak rating and not consistent one throughout).

Nexon and 350kW in same paragraph somehow seem unfair to efforts from Tata.
