Re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

Compared to the standard Tata Nexon EV, the Nexon EV Max range is priced around Rs 2.95 lakh more. It does, however, undercut the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV by quite a margin.

Well I read on Autocar Facebook post that the ground clearance stands reduced by 10 mm. So it is now 195mm which is reasonably good enough. However given a choice I would have preferred higher ground clearance over reduced boot space.

Is it so that with 3.3kW version, one gets 3.3kW onboard charger and 3.3kW wallbox? And with the 7.2kW version, the onboard charger is upgraded as well as the supplied wallbox?

If the onboard charger is 7.2kW in all versions, can't one can still charge at 7.2kW outside home where it is available and choose the 3.3kW wallbox for home?

I am not sure about that one. What I understand from this is right the onboard charger on 3.3 version is 3.3kwh/21kwh and the onboard charger for the 7.2 version is 7.2/50kwh charging rate.
I hope I am wrong in my assumption and that additional 50k is just for 7.2 wall charger and nothing else and the car can accept 7.2 AC charging and 50kwh regardless.

Re: More powerful Tata Nexon EV on the cards; specs leaked

CALCULATION OF REAL WORLD RANGE OF AN EV

Lets calculate the real world range of NEXON EV MAX

MAIN RANGE

Capacity of the Battery = 40.5 Kwh
Average mileage per Kwh = 6.39 Kms
Total Mileage = 6.39 x 40.5 = 258.795 Kms

ADDITIONAL RANGE GAIN by REGEN

Average Regen Efficiency = 12.1%
Mileage Gain due to Regen = (12.1/100) x 258.795 = 31.314 Kms

Total Range = Main Range + Additional Range will give the real world range

Real World Range = 258.795 + 31.314 = 290.109 Kms

This is the usual way of calculating the true world range of an EV. However, regen efficiency can vary and go upto 20% in case of cars with e-Pedal or strong regen.

Nice pricing compared to MG!
Wanted to know what are the colour options available in EV Max?

But if that was the case, they should mentioned it in specs of the car and not as charger options.

The time is mentioned in the above specs. 56 minutes for 0-80% with a 50kWh fast charger.

Re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

Biggest takeaway for me in the MAX remains the customizable regeneration capability. Rest of the goodies of course are welcome, as is the more practical range for town-hopping.

Some of the features like EPB and other driver aids - I expect to see in this model year's facelift of the ICE Nexon variants.

The pricing is really good. Absolutely not worth comparing the ICE counterparts with an EV, so I never do that. Compared to its nearest technical peers - TaMo definitely has done a good job with the pricing of both (x2) the variants.

I feel TaMo even timed this car pretty well. They established as a comfortable segment leader with Nexon EV over the last year or so now. Well accepted by the masses, no mishaps or fire incidents at all. The product is praised in general in the market, creating good brand value. Now - with the Nexon EVMax - large list of goodies, longer range can easily convince people to pay the premium being asked for. I personally find the car well priced for current era. Will I buy one - probably not, because the charging infrastructure is still not good enough for my peace of mind - for a car that can go out of city. Here we are in most cases - without a parking place when we go somewhere, forget about charging. Then - the full charge time of the Max seems to be quite a few hours still.

Every few months, we are getting a reminder that future is approaching much faster than most of us anticipated. Unless I buy some AWD contraption in a whim, its looking more and more likely that my next car will be an EV! Darn!

As per Tata's official specification release Unladen Gc remains unchanged it’s 205 mm

For me, range anxiety is still real. I understand that Tata Power is expanding its recharge network but I wonder if the current crop of oil companies would consider converting some of the pumps to recharge centers instead, especially on well trodden intercity/interstate routes.

Li-po which is used in Hyundai Kona, Kia Nero are also 4.2v full charged voltage(nominal 3.7v)

LFP on the other hand have a fully charged voltage of 3.6v(nominal 3.2v). They also have a flat discharge curve with respect to voltage drop vs capacity.

Every smart charger I have used since more then a decade have settings labeled for Li-on, Li-Po and Li-HV(4.35) and LiFePO4(LFP). While the media just uses lithium ion for everything.

So when one says lithium Ion it cannot be confused with lithium iron phosphate(LFP).
I understand what you are stating, even I have a imax b6 charger with separate setting for Li Ion, Li Po and LFP. But LFP and even LTO with Nominal Voltage of 2.3V is technically a Lithium Ion battery.

As long as it is Lithium Ion which moves the energy between the Anode and Cathode, It will be generalized as Li Ion batteries and further sub categorized as LFP, NMC, NCA, LTO etc based on the Anode/Cathode chemistry.

Received the brochure from SA.

The XZ+ gets fabric seats but with a different pattern than the regular one.

Re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

So the Nexon EV Max gets iTPMS that is indirect TPMS. This system does not have actual pressure sensors inside the tires but relay on the ABS sensor to compute difference in speed (along with steering rotation sensor) to figure out the loss in pressure. Not sure why Tata went this unreliable and less functional route when they could have simply provided normal TPMS system.
The iTPMS is generally less sensitive, also cannot report "high" pressure and nor the temperature of the tyre. Also if all tyres have low pressure but are same relatively, then the system does not see any abnormal tyre.
The technique is already used by many cars but to trigger the cornering lamps.
