What could be a new small electric SUV from Kia – possibly dubbed the 2024 Kia EV4 – has been caught on camera undergoing testing in South Korea
Quote:
The potential EV4 prototype – which is expected to sit roughly between the Kia Seltos and Kia Sportage in size – appears to have borrowed its side mirrors from the Kia Niro, while the wheels have come from a Kia Sorento.
Quote:
the EV4 may adopt a cheaper architecture intended to keep costs down – which may be bound for the forthcoming EV5 SUV – or the next-generation 'IMA' chassis planned for next-generation Kia and Hyundai electric cars.

Re: Hyundai & Kia to introduce 6 electric cars by 2024

A little surprising approach from Kia, especially considering the recent turn of events in India. Clavis and EV9 was already announced and expected. But 4 more EVs is interesting.

With global slowdown in EV sales and Auto bigwigs now reconsidering their EV approach, coupled with Indian Govt's recent suggestion of pushing hybrid vehicles and the sorry state of affairs of EV infrastructure in India, would this be a good move?

I was instead hoping Kia would bring in their hybrid tech and something above Seltos. A sportage, Sorento, Telluride would have been a better move IMO.

Re: Hyundai & Kia to introduce 6 electric cars by 2024

I was really happy to read Kia and Hyundai’s near / mid term plans on this front and am keenly watching the Koreans stepping up in the mass market EV space. I can easily stretch my 3GT ownership for another 2 - 3 years and around that time I would be quite open to flip it to a comfortable sized EV like this Carens EV prospect (captains chair second row FTW) or even this Verna sized equivalent. Great for a predominantly city biased use case along with the odd inter city trip to destinations within 200 kms from Mumbai.

Would love a comfortable back seat and the silence of an EV to be my primary city chauffeur driven ride - ideal budget in the 25 - 30L price band. Our Mumbai apartment complex has provisions for 15 Amp plug points in fixed slots on a monthly fee basis and that should be good enough to manage combined with the occasional juice up from an external fast charger.
