Lamborghini had previously announced its plans to introduce its first fully-electric supercar before the end of the decade. Now, speaking in an interview, the Company's CEO Stephen Winkelmann has confirmed an official timeline for the same. According to Winkelmann, the first fully-electric supercar from Lamborghini will be introduced globally sometime in 2027 or 2028.



Winkelmann stated that ahead of the arrival of Lamborghini's first EV, the company will introduce a hybrid version of its entire current model lineup. He also confirmed the arrival of four new models, ahead of 2030. These include 2 super sports cars with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and 2 more "versatile vehicles".

Winkelmann also mentioned that the company is open to using CO2-neutral synthetic fuel to power its future hybrid vehicles. However, this will depend on the development and availability of the same at the time Lamborghini introduces its 2 upcoming super sports cars.

Lamborghini details hybrid and EV model launch timeline.

Lamborghini will electrify its line-up in stages over the coming years :

- Hybridised Aventador successor in 2023,
- Urus PHEV in 2024,
- Huracan hybrid in 2025 and
- Pure EV in a new segment around 2028.

The Aventador's replacement, due on sale next year following a reveal in late 2022, will use a plug-in hybrid drivetrain

Lamborghini's first electric car will be an all-new four-seat crossover, launching in 2028 followed by the all-electric second-generation Urus SUV.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann has given more details on its positioning, which will be radically different to that of any model the brand has launched before.

'It's a completely new car: the fourth model. It's a segment we haven't been in for decades, if we speak about a 2+2 or four-seater, maybe also high from the ground, with more ground clearance.'"

Following the launch of this four-seat crossover, the larger Urus SUV will go all-electric for its second-generation.
