What I could make out from this video:
-The car is very much a work in progress, much like the eXUV300 that Mahindra showed at the last Auto Expo. Even the Tachometer is still present and shows rpm readings.
-The MID shows ECO mode active. In this mode, 67% battery gives 134 km of range, equating to a maximum range of 200kms.
-The car looks Rear Wheel drive, with a motor mounted on the rear axle. Something protrudes out from the body of the car underneath it, I presume that to be the motor. (Close to 1.33 in the video)

Hope it remains a concept only. This is probably the worst kind of EV. This body-on-frame platform dates back to the mid-2000s when the 1st-gen Innova was launched and it weighs almost 1900 kilos with a diesel engine. Imagine the kerb weight with the batteries! No wonder the range is poor, and so will be the driving experience.

The best EV is the one that's designed as an EV from the ground up, not a jugaad conversion of an old people mover. Second best choice would be a monocoque conversion (e.g. Nexon, ZS EV), but an EV based on a heavy old body-on-frame UV is just sad.

Some more details about the Innova EV Concept:

The concept uses an electric motor producing 134kW/182ps power and 700Nm of torque. Battery capacity is said to be 58.9kWh. Range is said to be 200-300 km.

The electric motor is placed at the front but power is still sent to the rear makings it a RWD.

A total of 5 Innova EV prototypes exist at the moment, 3 being in Indonesia and the remaining 2 sent to Thailand for further research and development

Interesting. Wonder if the gearbox is still there and the power transmission is like the iForce Max hybrid in Tacoma. The other question is the location of the battery. Surely, they can't have it on the floor like Born EVs.

Oh! looks like Toyota is silently working on EVs while still promoting Hybrids in a big way. Obviously, they don't want to be left behind in the EV race. I'm sure when our country is ready for EVs and starts seeing higher adoption, most global OEMs will start launching their EV offerings...however, what remains to be seen is the range offered and price point. Can it be assumed that EVs could cost as much as Hybrids, or even more? Interesting times indeed!

This one is the prototype that Toyota had built and is owned by them, it’s not going to go on sale.

I feel that this is not the vehicle Toyota wants to build as an EV.

My top reasons behind this belief are that the image is of Innova and not Innova Hycross. 1. This Innova is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle built on the body-on-frame chassis, and I wonder how Toyota will fit batteries in this structure optimized for petrol diesel powertrain

2. Body on frame is always heavier than the monocoque chassis

so, this Innova EV will be unnecessarily heavier with unjustified smaller batteries resulting into shorter range

Also, not a reason but a question out of curiosity that in the second image it still has rear differential, but in case of EV that differential is not required so not sure why it is even there
