Glad everyone's safe. Of course they can say it's an isolated incident, but that's hoping it actually is. If this happens to another one, and God forbid it does, it's not that isolated anymore.
Totally agree with you on the testing and danger it causes. Let's hope TAMO analysis and gives a proper response which I think they will given the seriousness of the situation.

However I am not worried at all about my Nexon EV booking as this is a 1 in 30000 case and they can always recall and replace the faulty items if they find any.

I travel by this road daily, I would say that the Fire dept did a good job of containing the fire, The road has a black patch where the rear of the car would have been. Now DRDO has stepped in for a federal investigation. https://www.msn.com/en-in/money/tops...a67c8b3842646f

Unfortunate for TATA. I do hope this stays isolated. That is what TATA said with the Nano too and we all know how that played out.

Dealing with an electric car fire requires a different approach too. I hope our fire fighters upskill to manage these as EV adoption is growing.

This has to be a new low from the cheapshot master Bhavish.

Quote:
EV fires will happen
Is he trying to normalise these fire incidents so that Ola can escape scrutiny? I’m amazed at the severe lack of maturity this guy has!

If anything, he should join forces to solve the problem together for EV space instead of holding a personal vendetta against some auto journalist and taking jibes at every opportune moment. He is like a teenager. Unbelievable!

There was adequate warning aforehand.

The problem with numbers and statistics is mind boggling.
Another fire will make it 1 every 15000 and another, 1 every 10000.

With the pace Tata is selling Nexon EV, another fire in 2 years(Nexon EV is sold since 2020) will make 1 in 40000, if this is an isolated incident that would be 1 in n, n being sales as of that date.

Absolutely. Which is why they must make sure if it is an 'isolated incident' or not. Another one or two can really make it into a massive incident.

We will revisit this post soon. Wish your assumption is true! However, Ola's Bhavesh aggarwal was stating that these fires are inevitable.

I thought you are talking about statistics, anyways if you are implying EVs will have more fire incidents, we can revisit soon.

Regarding brand value of Nexon, below is Nexon ICE on fire, and there will be many more which are not reported, these are machines, no amount of testing can make them perfect.

Yes, we were talking about statistics, until you shared an unrelated video. I mentioned one statistic and you mentioned another statistic, as both are hypothesis, we can only confirm when we have the data, the prediction can go anywhere from where it is today.

That video is about your previous assertion that Nexon brand value going down because of EV fires.

Since both are hypothesis, what is the point in revisiting the posts again, clearly we both did not make any knowledgeable guess, as we dont know the cause of the this fire.

There is a shop whose name is ‘Pushpa Chai’ by Foodzso at that particular spot.

Their tagline is “This is not just tea, but fire” using the reference from the movie ‘Pushpa’.

Re: Nexon EV catches fire in Mumbai; Tata Motors releases official statement

The fire truck was there even before the fire! I am assuming some smoke must be there, which is not visible in the picture.

Has any news media reported eyewitness accounts? Or interviewed the owner?

All reports I have seen, have based their reports on the video and Tata's press release.

The only bit more, I could find, was from Business Standard:

Quote:
The owner of the two-month old e-Nexon escaped unhurt. He reached out to the company’s call centre after he saw the fumes coming out. The call centre advised him to abandon the car immediately. A few minutes later, it burst into flames.
