Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the 2023 ID.Aero concept.



The 2023 Volkswagen ID.Aero concept car is the brand's first fully-electric luxury sedan. The ID.Aero will come with a four-door fastback styling and will be built in China for the Chinese market in 2023. However, Volkswagen also confirmed that a slightly different version of the ID.Aero will also be built at the brand's plant in Germany for the European and American markets.



The fully-electric sedan carries forward the similar design philosophy as its other ID siblings. The ID.Aero sports a coupe-like shape with a long wheelbase, which is expected to translate to plenty of interior space. The electric sedan features the brand's LED Matrix headlights with a connecting light bar, while the rear also gets a full-width lighting element. The car rides on 22-inch uniquely-designed alloy wheels. Volkswagen is yet to reveal the interiors of the 2023 ID.Aero.



While Volkswagen hasn't revealed the ID.Aero's full specifications, the car is said to be built using the brand's MEB platform. It is expected to feature a 77 kWh battery pack. The electric luxury sedan is said to offer a range of 620 km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge. The ID.Aero is also stated to have a low drag coefficient of 0.23.



The 2023 Volkswagen ID.Aero will be a direct rival to the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4.

Looks really elegant! I've loved the designs of VW exteriors of late, however the ID.4 interiors are a little turn-off. Excessive white that's about to soil very easily

The swooping fastback design language looks really cool. I hope there is not too much of a difference between the design and production versions.

It is about time that VW introduce their electric range in India. I am sure there will be a lot of prospective buyers waiting for a decently priced car!

As far as the design philosophy goes, I like this a lot. However, it just seems like too much sheet metal in comparison to the glass area (necessitated by the EV "Skateboard" platform, I know). In July 2021, Volkswagen revealed that it will kill off the Passat sedan for the U.S. market. As reported by CarBuzz, the automaker ceased production of the Passat Sedan for global markets at the end of 2021. Like the U.S. market, the Passat sedan will be discontinued for global markets following the 2022 model year.
