According to a media report, 25,890 electric vehicles were sold in Delhi in the first 6 months of 2022.



Out of all the vehicles registered in the national capital this year till June 30, EVs made up 9.3%. In the month of March, the share of EVs was 12.6%. Moreover, this year 143 EVs were registered on average every day.

In 2021, the share of EVs stood at 5.6% for the whole year. The total number of EVs sold during the year was 25,814 units. In 2020, vehicle sales were hampered due to the Covid-19 pandemic with only 12,381 EVs registered during the year. 23,222 electric vehicles were registered in Delhi in 2019 and in 2018, EV sales stood at 20,973 units.

- E-rickshaws still account for 3 out of 4 EVs in Delhi (till date)
- Thankfully only 1 in 4 new EV vehicles in 2022 (YTD) are e-rickshaws; I'm assuming 2-wheelers have had a good share of sales
- EV target of new vehicles is 25% for next year (currently at ~9%) which should be easily achievable given the focus on this segment and high EV sales since the policy was was launched in Sep 2020
