Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch its second all-electric SUV in India later this year. According to reports, the Mercedes EQB will arrive at our shores in Q4 of 2022.



The EQB is the all-electric version of the Mercedes-Benz GLB 7-seater SUV. It gets a few modifications including a blanked-off grille with a large Mercedes logo in the centre and LED daytime running lights that stretch across the front fascia.



In the international market, the EQB is offered with two electric powertrain options. These include the 300 4Matic dual-motor with 225 BHP and a 350 4Matic variant with a 288 BHP dual-motor setup.

The Mercedes EQB is said to offer a maximum range of 419 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle).

Is it only me or any one else also there who believes that Mercedes is also on a downward trajectory when it comes to design, especially in EVs.

It will be interesting to see how they price it compared to the EQC. Although this is a few inches shorter in length than the EQC, it is almost 15-20 lakhs cheaper in the UK, and it's biggest draw - although super compact - is it offers a 7-seater configuration which I'm sure should make it's way to India.

The GLB (which the EQB) is based on has always had an odd and awkward design even on the previous generations. It's a 7 seater so while compact, it has to have the upright profile for the third row.

Of course it will be completely imported and the pricing would push it away from everyone. Why waste time launching it instead of focusing on how to manufacture electric cars here and take advantage of taxation laws

EQS is going to be their first EV to be assembled here. If their premium offering with the hyperscreens is going to assembled in India, I'm pretty sure EQB will be assembled in the same Chakan plant. Expecting competitive prices for a change from Mercedes.

Mercedes EQB electric SUV to go on sale in December 2022

Having successfully introduced high-end electric models like the EQS and EQC, Mercedes-Benz is now gearing up to launch its fourth all-electric offering in the Indian market. According to a recent report, the EQB electric SUV will go on sale in December 2022.



The EQB is not based on the brand’s dedicated electric vehicle architecture (EVA) and instead shares its underpinnings with the Mercedes GLB.

On the exterior, the electric version of the 7-seater SUV gets a few modifications including a blanked-off grille with a large Mercedes logo in the centre and LED daytime running lights that stretch across the front fascia. It has a conventional interior featuring a dual-screen setup. It has the same dashboard as the GLB.

In the international market, the EQB is offered with two electric powertrain options. These include the 300 4Matic dual-motor with 225 BHP and a 350 4Matic variant with a 288 BHP dual-motor setup.

The Mercedes EQB is said to offer a maximum range of 419 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle).

I like the EQB the most out of all their electric offerings. Mainly because it still looks like the ICE version and not some outlandish looking egg concept.

The A and B class are the entry models and if Mercedes does price this at entry level (around 50 lacs) it will put the sales charts on fire. However given that the EQC is priced at 95 lacs (although that's a import) it seems unlikely that the EQB will be priced at the generally accepted pricing levels for A/B class.

With mediocre range and battery pack, along with the lack of under thigh support throughout the second and third rows it will be a non starter at anything over 65 lacs is my sense.

Common merc, surprise us all the way Volvo did !
