Porsche CEO confirms electric SUV bigger than Cayenne is coming

Porsche CEO, Oliver Blume, has confirmed that the company is working on introducing a new all-electric flagship crossover. The new model will be positioned above the Cayenne and Macan offerings. It said to be a "very sporty interpretation" of an SUV.

The new range-topping electric SUV has been codenamed K1 and will be built at Porsche's Leipzig facility in a few years' time. The new electric SUV will incorporate a bunch of technology from the Mission R, including the high-performance battery and the direct oil-cooled electric motor.

The SUV could be offered with three rows of seating - a first for Porsche. It is scheduled to debut sometime in the second half of the decade.

Blume stated that Porsche is hoping the electric SUV will recreate a similar success as its Taycan EV, which currently outsells the brand's 911 models.

Apart from the flagship electric SUV, Porsche is also working on introducing the Macan EV, which is scheduled to arrive in 2024.

New Porsche K1 is seven-seat luxury EV for 2027

Quote:
CEO Oliver Blume has described the car, known under the internal codename K1, as “a very sporting interpretation of an SUV”.

The K1 will offer the latest in synchronous electric motor, high-performance battery and rapid-charging technology.

The basis for the K1 is expected to be the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), given that it will share a production line with the upcoming PPE-mounted electric Macan, which is due in 2024.

Insiders say that when the SUV does arrive in 2027, it is likely to sit on an upgraded version of the PPE platform.

Re: Porsche CEO confirms electric SUV bigger than Cayenne is coming

The future Porsche K1 becomes a reality, the new luxury electric crossover with 700 km of range is caught in its first tests.

The first look reveals very similar proportions to the Cayenne but in reality this model will be much lower and closer to the ground, a similar concept to the Taycan Cross Turismo.

One of the features of the Porsche Landjet will be its large interior space. Although rumours suggest that it will be the brand's first model with seven seats, according to our information it will have two fewer seats, prioritising a high level of comfort on board. Name unknown, the K1 is one of the first models based on Volkswagen's SSP platform to be equipped with high-power electric motors - up to 1,000 hp - and solid-state batteries to offer a range of at least 700 kilometres on a single charge, arriving in dealerships in 2027. An important discovery that also brings the long-awaited successor to the Audi A8 and thus also the Bentley Mulsanne closer.
