I would ditch this just for that thing written at the back. What is with these Chinese companies fascination towards showing off their English literacy levels ?

Not sure "build your dreams" kind of phrases will spell doom for those shops specialising in vinyl stickering.

Earlier it was seen on MG with the like of Internet inside.

Apart from that the car itself looks premium. Interior surely feels like a 50L car. Not sure how all of that will age though

Nice stance but the interiors will be hard to digest, no? Something still very Chinese about this car, all said and done. But BYD probably has a great future ahead.

This car undercuts the MG ZS EV in the Australian market so look for competitive pricing here too. 20-25 lakhs is on the cards hopefully. The Australians are upset about expensive service plans, but that’s something to do with a third party service provider so may not apply here.

My worry: the interiors will be just too odd for many of us.

re: BYD Atto 3 electric SUV to be launched this festive season. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 34 lakh

The car seems to have the right proportions and the interior is not bad either - a bit tacky, yes - but live-able. BYD is the largest EV manufacturer in the world and their batteries are one among the best. I hope they price it right along with the ZS EV. In other markets, it even undercuts the ZS is what I understand. If so, this is going to be a serious contender in the EV space. The only red flag being the Chinese origin and the tumultuous relationship we have with the Chinese.

re: BYD Atto 3 electric SUV to be launched this festive season. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 34 lakh

BYD readies base for Atto 3 launch in India, will be launched in the October-December quarter.

Quote:
This fully-born electric SUV built on the E3 platform is close to 4.5 metres long and already being retailed in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. It will enter Japan in January 2023 and will follow an SKD (semi knocked down) assembly route in India. The Atto 3 will join the e6 multipurpose vehicle at BYD’s plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.
Quote:
Feedback suggests that users like the e6 for its space and ease in intercity travel especially with tourism also picking up. Fleet owners are also happy with the MPV especially those with multiple fleets and “we are hoping demand will go up to 150 units per month”.
Interestingly, the Chinese brand association has hardly impacted buying sentiment with customers perceiving the product as a pure electric offering.

BYD is also the largest EV maker globally and has surged ahead of Tesla.

Quote:
The Chinese company will be hoping that it can pull off a success story in India with electric now being the buzzword across the auto industry.

Hope BYD creates a sub-brand name/logo that is better than the big letters and long expansion of that.

Its exciting that new products are being introduced in EVs with better range. People who have multiple cars (myself included) will look at owning one EV. People who own a Wagon-R and similar cars as only vehicles could still find it hard with non-existent charging infrastructure and range anxiety.

re: BYD Atto 3 electric SUV to be launched this festive season. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 34 lakh

Just called up BYD Kochi enquiring about the Atto 3. Unofficial bookings seem to have started for Rs.10,000 with launch expected next year. The exec I spoke to was sure that the prices would be in the range of Rs.30 to 35 lakh. He said that BYD is aiming for a segment above ZS EV and Kona and there would be the option of a small and big battery packs. According to him, BYD is gearing up to pitch the Atto 3 against Mini Cooper and the likes. As far as warranty was concerned, he informed that the 500,000 km warranty provided for the e6 wouldn't be available with the Atto 3. I am taking all this with a bucket load of salt especially since youtube reviewers from other countries are pitching the Atto 3 as an alternative for ZS EV and the likes. Guess we will have to wait and find out.

^^ It's the same segment as MGZS EV, in my opinion it will be DOA at 30-35lakhs. Atto3 comes with 50 and 60kwh battery packs in other markets. The warranty is 7 years for the complete car in Australia.

With the battery prices achieved by BYD, competitive pricing should be at 20lakhs for the SR version and 22lakhs for LR version(removing ADAS features).

No, it isn't. BYD has bungled its Australia product strategy big time. Warranty is iffy to say the least. Most signs point to the local distributor being the culprit here.

Final warranty For Australia and servicing details for the BYD Atto 3 were confirmed last week:

1. Six-year/150,000km coverage on the vehicle – versus the seven years/unlimited km warranty announced earlier this year, which prompted many customers to place deposits. The battery warranty has since changed to eight years/160,000km.

2. Within the new six-year warranty were exclusions for key parts of the vehicle, which cut coverage for items such as the infotainment screen, suspension and air-conditioning filters to four, three or, in some cases, less than one year.

It was also revealed the Atto 3 would cost nearly $3100 to service over eight years or 160,000km – nearly double the eight-year (but 80,000km) total service price of the BYD's main rival, the MG ZS EV – with every second service costing between $500 and $660.

Let's just hope they have better warranty and service packages in India. I for one, am extremely keen to get an EV next and the Atto 3 seems to tick all the right boxes for me.

Enquired about yesterday it in newly opened BYD dealership at Delhi. I was told only 60 Kwh battery pack will be offered in India at ~35 Lakh ex-showroom price. So definitely it sits one notch higher than MG ZS EV segment. Booking has already started. Expected delivery in Feb 2023.

Damn! That's a shame. I was really hoping that the Atto 3 would be the first ground up EV product (Nexon, ZS and Kona EVs have ICE counterparts) with mainstream pricing that offers decent size, space, battery specs, range and features. I guess it makes sense for the BYD to skip the crowded Rs 20-30 lakh segment and go one above, especially considering that it would be a CKD.

re: BYD Atto 3 electric SUV to be launched this festive season. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 34 lakh

The E6 is now available to private buyers at the same ex-showroom as commercial which I think is 29.x lakhs. We also have a ownership review that outlines it's virtues - practical for trips with long range, good for daily use with no worries about its charging cycles / voltage used, great space and well equipped (though the infotainment system isn't up to the mark).

The SUV then simply won't be priced any cheaper than the minivan esp if its more feature loaded.
