Never meant ZS was unsafe, rather said didn't tick all the boxes. In relation most of the contenders on my list either had an extra airbag, and (or) blind spot monitor, and (or) an extensive ADAS suite which gives them the edge. Atto 3 vs. ZS gives Atto 3 an advantage over the battery tech as well which is already spoken widely on this forum.

Hey yo, glad to see you are going ahead with the booking. Actually, my worry is about BYDs long term presence too. Especially given India-China tussle.

The positive thing going for BYD is, they are huuuge and they supply so many things. Even the govt uses them for EV buses. Just the fact that BYD is such a promiment player in the EV space is a relief.

One cannot predict how a company will turn out 10 years from now, but atleast BYD has come in with a conviction to sell 15k cars in a year(could also be just a marketing slogan )

Also, resale value of EVs in general is up in the air, nobody knows how its gonna be. I am pretty sure I'll stick to this car for many many years.

I am 89% sure Atto3 is my car, after watching 100s of hours of content from Aus and NZ videos.
I will be waiting for the first batch of deliveries in Jan, wait for some good honest reviews(Team-BHP please) and then take a decision.

Here's a comparison between Atto3 and all the available mainstream EV's in India.

This is assuming carwale has their data right.

Atto3 scores high in every single point except ventilated seats which is a big miss. Range increase of 100-150kms over Nexon and ZS is already a big win.

The more I look into the specs and compare, the more it feels like Atto3 is a really good buy if you are in that budget.

Only unknown is their service quality, service costs(?, Aus has some fixed yearly/monthly service costs, not sure if its just an Aus thing), and long term reliability.

BYD has been making cars for a long time, but Atto3 is still a new car and we are not sure how well it will stand the test of time especially in India with our beautiful roads.

Thank you for the comparison. Actually more that I look at it MG ZS EV seems better. It compares well with Atto 3 on almost all counts and costs 8 L less. 8L is equivalent to buying a new battery pack.

Had the opportunity to examine the Atto 3 and E6 the other day. Both are solidly built cars, and the Atto 3 interior was better in real life than in the pictures. Not sure it's worth Rs 34 L. But definitely more spacious than my Kona. Still prefer the Kona front seats but the Atto 3 is clearly superior at the back.

Actually liked the E6 a lot, very nice interiors - spacious, understated, relaxing. And the price of Rs 30 L isn't crazy given Innova pricing. I would recommend a close took at the E6 to anyone for whom it checks the boxes.

Biggest con for Atto3 seems to be the price, at 35L on road its too costly and customers expect a whole lot of amazing. The car does a lot of things really good, the interiors are really plush and well made, lot of features(although missing few basic ones for this price range like ventilated seats, auto wipers and memory seats), scores very high on safety tech and 5 star Euro NCAP, and just a bigger car compared to Nexon or the ZS EV.

Biggest pro is its increased range at 400+ real world and globally leading blade battery tech.

Will probably be a niche segment best suited for "standing out in the crowd" as Autocar put it.

I watched the video as well and don't understand where Autocar is coming from.

In all practical measures, this is a Jeep Compass competitor (minus the off-roading capability) and not Seltos and co. competitor.

You can compare the Atto 3 apples to apples with a MG ZS but ZS is a a smaller car with less space, less power, less acceleration, less range and slower DC charging speed. Clearly, the Atto 3 is a segment above in all aspects including the price. Unless it isn't, in which case we can say that it is overpriced. But Prima Facie, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I will leave the verdict till I see the Team BHP Review or I see it in person but till then, the jury is still out.

BYD Atto 3 electric SUV racks up 1,500 bookings in 1 month

BYD launched its Atto 3 electric SUV last month. The carmaker has now announced that it has received 1,500 bookings for the EV. Deliveries will commence in January 2023.



The BYD Atto 3 is available in a single, fully loaded trim priced at Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes equipped with features such as a rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, powered front seats and a powered tailgate. The SUV also gets ADAS and other safety features.

The Atto 3 is available with a 60.48 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 521 km (ARAI). It powers an electric motor mounted on the front axle. It makes 201 BHP and 310 Nm. BYD claims the Atto 3 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

In my research for car from last few months, this seems to be the closest on paper which I might go ahead and book.

The interiors look fresh, has good power and looks spacious from inside on paper and videos. Will be going for a test drive this weekend and might book it as well. Not sure why they missed out on ventilated seats though.

Agree with you there, it does seem to have many things while also feeling like misses out on key things, especially ventilated seats when the Aus/NZ cars get it.

I will also be going for a test drive coming Monday.

Couple things I will be checking as its not mentioned anywhere,
Auto dim IRVM
Rain sensing wipers
Connected car features if any.

Do share your thoughts here after the test drive.
