Don't know which cells are in MGZS EV, but Tesla has been using CATL LFP batteries for atleast last 2 years, when their shanghai made TM3 SR+ was launched.

Tesla is buying cells from which ever company sells them, most cell manufacturers are happy to sell to Tesla (even with deep discounts I believe). Since Tesla has battery products like power-packed, megapack, they are making a huge fat profits, from the cells they buy cheaply.

CATL makes both LFP and NMC chemistry batteries. CATL is the only company that is supplying LFP batteries to Tesla for the last 2-3 years. They are even building a new battery factory near the Tesla Shanghai Giga factory to supply LFP batteries. Almost all the Chinese battery companies make LFP batteries and CATL is the biggest of them.

BYD blade battery (LFP chemistry) supply to Tesla only started last month as per rumors. This partnership is not official yet.

The below official link shows that the old MG ZS has been using CATL LFP batteries. Even the latest MG Mulan (MG 4) electric car uses CATL batteries in both LFP and NMC chemistries.

MG ZS 40kwh/ 72kwh uses CATL NMC. There are forum discussion/ youtube videos of the cells being disassembled from crashed vehicles, being used for energy storage.

That link doesn't say anything about LFP.

One of my friends enquired the expected price for BYD Atto 3 and he was told the price to be 36.5 Lakh ex-showroom. This price will definitely push away from the considerations of many aspirants buyers like me. I was thinking of canceling booking of MG and switch to BYD but price difference is too much I believe.

BYD Atto 3 EV's rotating touchscreen teased

BYD has released another teaser of its upcoming Atto 3 electric SUV. The latest teaser showcases the car’s rotating touchscreen infotainment system.



The BYD Atto 3 gets a futuristic-looking dual-tone interior with a touchscreen infotainment system in the centre, which can be rotated to switch from landscape to portrait mode. The car also gets a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera.

Powering the Atto 3 is a permanent magnet synchronous motor that develops 201 BHP and 310 Nm, which is said to propel the car from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. It is rumoured to come with the larger 60.48 kWh battery pack, which has a maximum claimed range of 420 km (WLTP cycle).

I wonder if it has Android Auto/Apple Car. Screen will be border line useless without this. On the E6 it was ok as it was generally seen as a budget car, but on this people will expect more.

It doesn't yet, but BYD has promised AA and AC via OTA update by the end of the year in Australia, so I'm hoping they do it here as well.

BYD is doing incredibly well internationally. I hope they do well in India as well.
Personally, I don't like interior layout of this car. Those AC vents are weird. Exterior looks neat though. Hope they price it well.

I didn’t expect to see one in flesh so soon. A neighbour got home two days back. I didn’t know BYD until I saw this car, and saw the posts in our forum.

Haven’t had a chance to speak to him yet.

The car does look good.
