Minimalistic dashboard with a dual floating screen and dual-tone colour scheme. Bio Paint is used on surfaces such as crash pad, switches, steering wheel and door panels that includes oil extractions from plants such as rape flowers and corn. Eco-processed leather used is dyed using flaxseed oil. Headlining and carpet fabric includes bio components extracted from sugarcane and corn. Eco-friendly fabric is created using plastic bottles that are shredded into plastic chips. These chips are melted and spun into threads which makes for an inviting fabric that is used on the seatback and door armrest:

2-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel:

Doorpads carry over the dual-colour theme from the dashboard. Notice the pixelated detailing on the armrest:

The seats are super comfortable. The headrests even more so. However, light colour upholstery will get soiled easily. Rear legroom is adequate. Floor is flat:

No rear blowers? It makes a big difference for our hot summers. The rear seats look comfortably reclined.

EDIT - I just noticed it's there in the B Pillars!

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 @ Auto Expo 2023

Loved the design and execution from the day they launched it here in the US. The silhouette reminds me of a Lancia Delta Integrale. Hyundai calling it an SUV is a bit of a stretch though, but probably wise for marketing it in India.

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 @ Auto Expo 2023

My current favourite Hyundai (excluding Genesis) and dare I say BEV (sorry Honda E). They got the retro futurism so right, especially those pixelated lights, though I guess they are overdoing it with the Ioniq 6.

I was annoyed with the SUV tag, until i saw @carthick1000's post. It is big!!! The tasteful styling makes us feel that it is a cute little hatchback (Atleast in pics)

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 @ Auto Expo 2023

Ioniq 5 looks deceptively small but trust me its not. Excellent pricing though. 216bhp is good enough speed for Indian roads and given the battery size, the real world range should be close to 400-450kms easily which is plenty in India.

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 @ Auto Expo 2023

This is a steal at this price. The car sells for $40-50k USD for the RWD trim in the US and that's basically the equivalent of an entry level BMW X3 or a GLC etc. Try buying those at 44 lakhs.

Not to mention that IONIQ 5 is technically accomplished, supremely capable and have won all kinds of international accolades, some even saying the best EV in the world to buy.

Well done Hyundai!

The original post mentions that deliveries start in Feb 2023, although not sure from where that information has come.

Maybe the OP can shed some light on it.

A very rare clean looking Hyundai. But whats with the 20 inch alloys, ride quality will take a beating.

It's sold worldwide with 19 or 20 inch alloys only, nothing smaller, and my guess is they went for the 20 inch ones to increase the ground clearance for Indian conditions.
