High-performance Hyundai Kona EV N could be coming soon

Hyundai recently revealed its second-generation Kona crossover internationally. The new-gen Hyundai Kona will continue to be offered with petrol, hybrid and pure-electric powertrain options. Reports also suggest that the three powertrains will be on offer across both versions: Kona and Kona N-Line.

According to fresh media reports, Hyundai is also planning a full-blown "N" performance version of the SUV. Reports state that the if the "N" version does get the go-ahead, it will be exclusively offered with electric motors.

Officials from Hyundai's top management, Sang Hyeon Park & Se Hyuk Park, confirmed that the Kona EV N is still under consideration and that the decision will be taken based on the response to its upcoming Ioniq 5 N.

With the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N expected to arrive later this year, the potential Kona EV N is still a long time away.

Re: High-performance Hyundai Kona EV N could be coming soon

The only real problem with performance EVs is scarily fast battery depletion. If you thought turbo-petrols guzzle at high rpm, try a fast EV. Drive them hard and the range drops faster than a brick thrown down from a high-rise.

But give them a bigger battery and that kills the fun factor a bit (due to the weight). I've driven the big, fast EVs and they do feel "heavy" (including Teslas & German ones).

Yes they do.

Have driven Q8 etron 55 and was underwhelmed at the way the car performed. Apart from the heavy feel, you also get the feeling that the engine has its work cut out lugging all that weight. Had quite an expectation about its performance which probably led to feeling underwhelmed.

In comparison I had driven the Q8 Celebration edition just recently and while it certainly was a handful to drive, I didnt feel underwhelmed at the performance on tap nor did the engine feel as if it had its work cut out.
