Yes, it was supposed to be. Still, they billed me for two windshield washer solutions, which were kept inside the glovebox. I only realized it later, so I'll let it pass.

I noticed this happening a few years back, and you had to explicitly tell them not to add the windshield washer as you didn't need it. However, I hadn't seen it happening around recently.

It's surprising to see authorised service centres still opting for such tricks.

Re: Tata Punch.ev Review

I am looking to buy a 2nd car in Bangalore for my sister (for city use primarily) and have finalised the Punch.ev Empowered+ variant (fits all the criteria of small footprint, feature-rich EV). Does anyone have any leads on the offers or SA who can be referred to (open to 2024 MY car as well if there is good offer on the same)?

Additionally, does anyone have any news on:
  1. Potential timeline for addition of yellow colour as showcased in the auto-expo; this would be our first choice and would not want to miss out on this if it is going to be launched in the next month or so
  2. Addition of Rear AC vent as done on the ICE version
  3. Potential update to the Punch.ev similar to updates for Tiago.ev and Tigor.ev for 2025

I am also sailing on the same boat.

Re: Tata Punch.ev Review

How big is the difference between the new car insurance and 1 year old car insurance? I bought Punch ev, 1 year ago and paid 40K to buy ACKO insurance. The dealer quote was much higher.

The renewal premium even from Tata AIG is close to 16K. Is this correct? All those who have renewed their insurance, did you get similar quotes? or am I doing something wrong?

I think, the new car insurance includes three years worth of third party insurance. So it'd cost that much more.

Re: Tata Punch.ev Review

We took delivery of our Tata Punch.EV Empowered +S LR (Empowered Oxide Color). It is a MY24 model and was able to negotiate for price of December discounts. In just a week faced following issues.

1. This one is very famous. Caller name froze on instrument cluster. Happened twice and requires restart two times before it goes off. Additionally, it is like first caller name froze then the second caller did not froze and first name is still there.
2. The MID always shows radio channel that played first. Changing radio channel either thru screen or steering mounted control does not change display on MID.
3. This one is weirdest and still not solved after 2-3 restarts. Blind spot monitoring stopped working. No screen feed on either right or left indicator. However, 360 degree camera is working. If anybody faced this issue and resolved then could you please let me know what is the solution.

Another question I have is, if any insight on how driving score is calculated. My office commute onward journey showed 8.6 and return shows 5

Thanks.

Congratulation on the car!

I have a Honda and it calculates driving score on a scale of 100 as per the feedback the computer provides on the following parameters:

- Harsh Braking
- Harsh Acceleration
- Over speeding
- Sharp turning
- Acceleration before turn
- Overbraking before turns
- Seat belt unfastened while driving
- Prolonged Driving

By the way, my driving score has been 98-99 on regular basis as I am generally a very sedate driver

As per my understanding, Tata.EV's are scored on 1-10 and not upto 100. If I check driving diagnostics I do not see any harsh braking etc.

This issue has been resolved thru settings.
There is an option for Blind Spot Monitoring in Settings >> Vehicle >> Driver Assist >> Blind Spot Monitoring.
Somehow it was switched off, now I have turned it on and it is working again.

All these are known issues of infortaiment software. Looks like your car is still on there very old 12.78v.

Get infortainment updated to 15.68v. It is stable version.

1800KM on my Punch EV

Hello everyone,

**My old car**
Maruti WagonR Stingray
2014 model
Odometer: 150,000 km

**New car**
Tata Punch EV Empowered + LR (3.3 kWh)
2024 model
Odometer: 1,800 km
Colour: Seaweed Green
Dealer: KHT Motors, Bangalore (Whitefield)

So far, the car has been a dream to drive and own. I took delivery on the 3rd of January, and the current odometer reading is at 1,800 km.

Here are my observations so far:

The Ugly

1. KHT Motors is horrible. The people are nice, and that's the only good thing about that dealer.
2. The entire EV team knew very little about the car.
3. The employees were fighting and shouting at each other in the showroom.
4. They refused to own up to a scratch that somehow appeared between my PDI and delivery date (my fault for not noticing it in the showroom).
5. The checklist they had at the time of delivery was not EV-specific, including items like a jack, spare tyre, and tool kit, which are not part of an EV.
6. The person assigned to show me the settings and features of the instrument cluster had inadequate knowledge of the car.
7. The EV team lead didn't know how to read the VIN. She kept arguing that the VIN does NOT contain information like the month and year of manufacturing.
8. Do we even have to mention the heartbreakingly insane insurance premium?

The Bad

I’m nitpicking many of these and don’t care much.

1. The colour of my car—although I love it—somehow looks a bit lacklustre. I’m not sure if it’s the paint, my car, or if my cleaning guy is doing a bad job.
2. The car has some software-related glitches. Here are a few I noticed:
a) After charging the car (3.3 kWh) and unplugging it, closing the hatch, etc., the car displays a message: "Unable to charge due to parking brake error, please contact service centre" or something similar. I brought it up with the service guy during the first service (between 1,500–2,000 km), and he said he would reset the system and update it if a new update was available. I still get this message, though the car charges and drives normally.
3. Apple CarPlay seems to have a mind of its own—it connects automatically sometimes, and other times, it doesn’t.
4. The infotainment screen randomly goes blank and comes back again (this started happening after the first service).
5. The car suddenly stopped announcing drive mode changes (Eco-City-Sport, etc.).
6. The default voice commands no longer work—they don’t register any commands (this started after the first service).
7. The turn indicator and hazard light sounds are bad.
8. The turn indicators seem to have their rhythm, which changes randomly.
9. While driving, I put on the indicator to turn, and to my surprise, it went into silent mode. The indicator was flashing at the front and back and on the instrument cluster, but there was no sound. (This happened before the first service but hasn’t happened again yet.)
10. The most annoying glitch is that when I make or receive a call and disconnect, the call notification still appears. Turning the car off and on doesn’t seem to fix it—it usually disappears after a longer off-on cycle.
11. The AC has a bad smell. The service guy said he would clean it, which seemed to help, but the smell returned within a few days.
12. The annoying rear passenger seatbelt warning chime goes off even when no one is sitting there. (I decided to buckle all three seatbelts.)

The Good

1. The smoothest car I’ve ever driven
2. Handles amazingly well
3. Has all the features I could think of
4. Has all the power I need
5. Has already saved me a lot on petrol
6. The range is what I love most about the car. I’m getting an average of over 300 km per charge, with my average energy consumption at 100 kWh right now.

Although The Good list seems to be smaller, I am in love with the car and it is the best I could afford and have 0 regrets so far.

Thanks. Yes, that's another pain point with my dealer. Though I have informed about the version during PDI, they said they will check. However, at the time of delivery they informed that this is the latest version. Later when I shared a screenshot from TBHP, they accepted and said version will be upgraded during first service.
