The news article incorrectly mentions that the motor powers the rear axle. The Atto3 is a fwd vehicle. The power figure is also mentioned incorrectly as 201bhp.

Mods kindly make the corrections.

Hi, BYD ATTO 3 has 150kW power, which equals to 201 BHP.

I test drove both this one and MG ZS EV in a span of week. I too felt that about power.

My Theory is the accelerator needed to be pressed a lot down than usual (compared to mg zs ev ).
Also the sense of speed might also be different due to the vehicle dimensions?

Interested to know what you felt as well on the power and rear seat comfort.

Even one of my friends too felt the same. He owns a 2023 ZS EV and had TD'ed Atto 3 as he is considering this as the replacement for his Celerio AMT.

Everything felt good according to him, but the power felt bit laggy compared to his ZS.

I too am looking for the same next year as second car and torn between ZS EV or Atto 3.

I felt the power was OK after driving for a while.
Sports mode was very responsive.Just did not feel that sudden instantaneous surge of power you get with MG.

The seat comfort- both front & rear is very good.
Rear seating is more spacious as well.

Here are a few key things to consider if you are comparing with ZS EV.
  1. Atto 3 is based on e-Platform 3.0 which is a pure EV platform
  2. More power - 201 PS/150kW, 310 N.m
  3. BYD Blade battery (enough said about this already), Also bigger battery if you opt for higher spec
  4. Faster charging (although not by much, up to 80kW)
  5. Heat pump is standard
  6. Bigger cabin space (due to longer wheelbase)
  7. Independent rear suspension (better ride quality, tough Atlas tires aren't good)
  8. 7 Airbags as standard
  9. Much better interior quality
  10. Much better infotainment
  11. Much better 360-degree camera setup
  12. Proper under-thigh support at the back
  13. All LED lights (you will not find any halogen lights anywhere)
  14. Electric 4-way seat adjustment for passenger side

I think the price premium over ZS is justified.

Right on all counts. However if connected car tech is important to you, BYD seems to be lacking in this aspect because of government restrictions.

I assume this will get sorted out in time. Check out user Monaro's post about this.

I assume this is a BYD specific restriction placed by the government and not just the Seal.

Yes, you are correct. There is no eSIM connectivity yet. Dealers also have no idea when we can get these connected car features.

BYD extends introductory pricing for Atto 3 Dynamic

This year, BYD is celebrating its 11th anniversary in India. The Chinese EV maker made its debut in the Indian market with the launch of an electric bus on August 20, 2013. As part of the celebrations, the carmaker has extended the introductory pricing for the Atto 3 Dynamic variant.

BYD introduced the Dynamic variant of the Atto 3 last month. It is the new entry-level trim of the electric SUV and is priced at Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Atto 3 'Dynamic' is equipped with a 49.92 kWh battery that has an ARAI-certified range of 468 km. It powers a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, producing 201 BHP and 310 Nm.

According to BYD, the battery can be charged from 0-80% in 50 minutes using a DC fast charger, while an AC charger takes 8 hours. The Atto 3 comes with a 7 kW home charger and a 3 kW portable charger.

The Atto 3 is also available in 'Premium' and 'Superior' trims priced at Rs 29.85 lakh and Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Dynamic variant (25L) appears to be good value for someone who already has an ICE car and is using this substantially as a city car (maybe an occasional Lonavla/Pune trip). Does anyone have this variant? Any major misses? Any thoughts on the approach? (especially keeping in mind the major slowdown in EV sales).

My building has a couple of fast chargers installed so that shouldnt be too much of an issue.

I think this has to do with the way BYD has calibrated their throttle response.

I noticed this in their E6 as well. Given that the battery is big and powerful, why would one NOT get the instantaneous g forces?

My guess, and it's a guess at best, is..

1. The largest amount of energy is wasted in overcoming the forces of inertia. They could be toning down the response from the motor to reduce power consumption, to give us the incredible real world ranges that BYD is known for.

2. Reduce wear and tear on the driveline components, to increase the life of the vehicle driveline.

Food for thought: Would blade (battery) technology have anything to do with this?

Hi everyone,

I booked the BYD Atto 3 (top model) from Kristan BYD Gurgaon recently and went for PDI today. (I got a decent discount)
Upon inspection I realised he is trying to sell the previous model (May 2024 manufactured, which arrived at the dealer this Monday 9 September 2024)

He insists that he did inform me about the previous model, whereas I or my brother don't recall that at all.

The sales advisor said that the only difference in the previous Atto 3 and the new Atto 3 (top model) is the change of rear badge from "Build your Dreams" to "BYD"

Black and Grey exterior colours will get the dark theme interiors whereas the white colour will get the lighter theme.

Other than this, no changes.

Now I'm not sure if that is true or not as he's trying to sell the May 24 manufactured Atto 3 to me and claims that there are no changes to the top model except the ones mentioned.

The tyres also seem to be 215/55 R18 Atlas Batman and not Continental Ecocontact 6Q.

The power there isn't exactly high, but you can't call it bad either

You can go for it if you do not specifically want the grey interior Or the blackened panel on the C pillar. He is right, there is no difference mechanically between old and new models just cosmetic ones. In other markets, the screen has been made bigger, but not here. I don’t think they have started any discounts on the new model. So if you are getting any material discount on the old model, you can go for it post-inspection.

Thanks a lot rkv_hunter
I'm not looking for any cosmetic changes as such especially if it's just the C Pillar or the BYD badge in the rear.
I did the PDI yesterday and everything seemed fine.
Should I get the tyres changed to Continental upon delivery or should I just stick with Atlas Batman? I'm not concerned about any wear as such, but I don't want there to be any safety concerns. Should I also upsize to 235/50 R18?
Thanks once again.

Hi.
The 2 major differences in the facelift are
- the 'Build Your Dreams' badge in the back has been replaced by BYD logo
- the silver C pillar panel has been changed to black
The interior colour is also different in the Black coloured cars.

Everything else is the same.
They are offering discounts of above 2 lakhs for the pre facelift cars. Not a bad deal( You get ADAS & an in built dashcam).
We were offered the same but finally decided to wait for our premium variant.

One question. How do you make out the month of manufacture from the VIN number?Couldnt find it online.
Thank you.

Hi everyone !

Happy Sunday to all!

Is the discount offered on the previous model of the BYD Atto 3 on the ex-showroom price of the car or the final invoice?

Thanks in Advance.
