Battery is likely to be a 71.8 kWh unit with up to 531 km range on a single charge (NEDC claimed). A single electric motor with around 200 horses and 310 torques driving the front wheels might take BYD eMAX 7 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.

The production version looks virtually identical to the concept shown at GIIAS '24, down to the badging and alloy design.

I hope that attitude also extends to the specification, as 3 rows and 6 airbags as available in the model launched in Thailand today would make this a much more compelling buy as a PV. The e6 was really quite underwhelming for the price, I have seen only one on the road and I can't even remember if it's the one that is parked outside the showroom.

On a BYD showroom visit, enquiring Atto 3. I was told, launch for the eMax7 is likely to be on the 25th September

BYD eMAx7 to be launched in India on 8 October.

This is a successor to the E6 MPV and will come with three rows of seating and an upgraded feature list. It is also expected to get a bigger range as compared to the E6 and is being pegged as BYD’s challenger to the Toyota Innova range.

This is a very compelling option indeed! However, I wish MG got something like a Hector Plus in an EV avatar.

Byd eMax7 pricing estimate based on recent launches of MG windsor and Nexon.ev:

MG Windsor top model = 15.5 lac ex showroom.

Same body cost due to below point:

EMax7 is only 100 mm longer in wheelbase but 300 mm shorter in width.

Almost same features apart from adas.

38 kwh battery in windsor vs 72 kwh battery in eMax7.

Current battery price on higher side is 10k per kwh considering difference of MG Windsor pricing between BAAS and full car which is 3.5 lac for 38 kwh battery.


Final price for eMax7:

15.5 + 1.5 (ADAS) + 3.4 ( 34 kwh extra battery) + 0.5 (extra seats) = 20.9

This is my rough estimate what should be the pricing of eMax7 based on MG windsor pricing.

Have already booked eMax7 and waiting for launch on 8th oct however if priced above 25 lac for 72 kwh model then MG Windsor would be better VFM only negative being smaller battery pack of 38 kwh.

Hi, most likely BYD will launch eMax7 at an introductory price of 29.9 lacs for a 55kWh battery and the larger 72kWh battery variant (if launched) will be at 33.9 lacs (or more)

I have also booked the eMax7, however the estimate seems too optimistic, dont think in BAAS they have covered full battery, some part is in the 9.99 lacs.

Also Windsor is CKD, vs BYD will be CBU. As a complete car package compared to Windsor at 38kwh at 16 lacs, I feel eMax7 at 72 KWh will be at 29.9 lacs and 55KwH at 27 lacs. Anything more than 30 lacs, it stops making sense compared to Hycross Hybrid.

In other markets 72 kWh has been launched at same or lower than prevailing 72kwh E6 prices.

In Indonesia it is cheaper than the Hycross Non Hybrid petrol which is 21 lacs here, 20% cheaper than Atto 3 Superior, maybe tax structures are different, but so they are here for EVs. Only issue is CBU.


Let’s wait and watch, I have booked assuming same price as outgoing E6. Anything significantly more won’t make sense from a price to value perspective.

BYD E6 was also CKD product so if they go that route they can price the product well. The rumour is that the car will be priced below 30 lakhs. Lets see if BYD tries to price it competitively to end unopposed reign of Innova
