Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Confirmed with multiple dealers in NCR that they have received "some" cars allotment and they will be starting delivery from tomorrow.

However, almost all of them stated they have only received 1 or 2 cars in Green color and will not be receiving more of green till November (mid/end now).

Can someone confirm if HDFC covers main battery in flood/water logging ?
This is the quote I received from them, so far the best quotation from anywhere whatsoever (ignoring Acko @43k since they confirmed they donot cover waterlog/rain damage)

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Given that a lot of drivers do NOT read their car manuals, something very interesting came out when I was reading the Windsor manual
Quote:
Avoid parking or driving over flammable materials like straw and hay. If you must pass over them, park the vehicle afterward to ensure these materials are not stuck to the chassis. High temperature parts on the chassis could ignite these materials, potentially causing a fire accident.

This is basic common sense, a general best practice. And is all the more applicable to ICE cars that have the hot engine and exhaust underneath.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I checked out the Windsor EV yesterday to see if it can be replacement for my 10-year-old Xcent AT. The interiors look and feel great. It is very spacious too. I really liked its mono-volume design. Unfortunately, it won't work for me because of its width. It is almost as wide as my Fortuner and defeats the purpose of having a small city car. I took a drive of the ZS EV then and it appeared to have slightly lesser width, but still a lot wider than my Xcent. There are some discounts on the ZS EV this month. I have decided to wait for the Hyundai EVs before making my decision.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

In fact I booked 2 cars one for self and 1 for my friend

Pre-booking:- 27 Sept 24.
Booking Advance:- 27 Sep 2024.
Charger survey:- Not Done.
Color:- Clay Beige
Variant:- Top model. Essence.
ETD:- Nil Updates.

Pre-booking:- 11 Oct 24.
Booking Advance:- 11 Oct 2024.
Charger survey:- Not Done.
Color:- Clay Beige
Variant:- Top model. Essence.
ETD:- Nil Updates.

As per the the dealer M G Safdarjung New Delhi, the cars had started 3-4 days late and are in transit and should be arriving at the dealership today/ tomorrow for which he remains unclear.
However none of the people who have booked are ready to take deliveries as the Delhi Govt EV policy which apparently has been extended till Mar'2025 ( Without Subsidies) the RTO still claims to not have receive any guidelines for 0% registration fees, till then 10% will be charged which makes the car dearer by 1.6 Lacs.

Seems like it will be a dull Diwali for the EV dealers and customers in Delhi after missing the Navratri rush and now the Dhanteras/ Diwali will go by. After which what is the point of buying a 2024 year car which will clock a year in less than 2 month.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Had pre-booked at the Mysore dealership (white, mid-variant). Got an oral confirmation today that the first lot of cars are in transit and that deliveries can start from next week. I am apparently in the first lot and hence should be able to take delivery very soon.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Give that there is no visibility from the dealership on the date of delivery despite email confirmation from MG of a tentative date of delivery, is there a chance of them allocating my vehicle to someone else, who is willing to buy insurance and accessories from them?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Curious as to when you booked the car, I booked the same colour and variant in Bangalore on Sep 19th. No delivery date confirmed as of yet.
Was told they are now prioritizing customers with in house financing, as in I'll have to go through them for the loan. But they did say they have tie ups with almost all the banks.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Got a call from the sales associate that a vehicle has been allocated to me and might be delivered in the next couple of days. He said he will confirm the date by EOD today.

Exactly. Had a clear word with the sales advisor today. When I said I am not going to take the insurance or the finance through their channel, he said the dealer is not getting anything. Those who will take it from them will be allotted earlier. Given that I have already sold my car, I may have to sacrifice 20k to take the insurance from them instead of waiting for 2-3 more months if they deliver this month.

This is clearly an anti-competitive practice. However, if any of us is stuck like you are, there is no choice. However, one of the reasons why i would not like to go for ICICI insurance which they have offered to me (other than the price factor) is that the HDFC policy wordings seem to be quite clear on the cover for battery and other accessories relating to battery.

MG's (ICICI probably) insurance does not have battery coverage separately. It has return to invoice, tyre and rim protection (totally useless) in addition to zero dep and unlimited claims. Effectively, it's like buying the car for 20k more.

I have the choice of saying bye bye to them and going to Nexon Fearless 45 / Punch EV top model. But ...

If I am not wrong, don't we have the option to surrender a new insurance policy within the lookback period, which I believe is 15 days. That's one option, the other is to take a hard stand and threaten to sue the dealership in court.

Btw, you can also report these behaviors to MG directly on their PulseHub email.

I myself am in a similar situation, sold both my cars thinking delivery will start by 11th, thankfully the GM of Sales has assured me to allot a car as per their prior commitment for delivery by 20th.

I don't intend to take insurance from them either, I took insurance directly from HDFC bank where I applied for loan directly, as they cover their own insurance in loan amount too (i.e. 100% onroad finance)

Told him clearly I don't have a choice since its part of the loan, instead I offered to take more accessories from them since I personally liked a lot of accessory options and they are priced decently (better than overpaying insurance).

You can check the quote HDFC gave me above for insurance including all addons for 62k, not bad considering HDFC is one of the few insurers providing unlimited zero dep claims (rest all provide 2 claims per year).
