Btw, you can also report these behaviors to MG directly on their PulseHub email.

I myself am in a similar situation, sold both my cars thinking delivery will start by 11th, thankfully the GM of Sales has assured me to allot a car as per their prior commitment for delivery by 20th.

I don't intend to take insurance from them either, I took insurance directly from HDFC bank where I applied for loan directly, as they cover their own insurance in loan amount too (i.e. 100% onroad finance)

Told him clearly I don't have a choice since its part of the loan, instead I offered to take more accessories from them since I personally liked a lot of accessory options and they are priced decently (better than overpaying insurance).

You can check the quote HDFC gave me above for insurance including all addons for 62k, not bad considering HDFC is one of the few insurers providing unlimited zero dep claims (rest all provide 2 claims per year).
HDFC Ergo is surely good. Surely I can take the hard stand too, but not sure I will have the energy. But next year onwards definitely I am on my own.

Which accessories did you like?

Hey, if its any consolation, if the push comes to it for me too, I would also prefer to pay 20k to take the insurance than delay the delivery, cause one thing I hate doing the most is waiting, I know it will waste more of my time and mind if I have to wait to get the delivery, than the money, which I can cover rather easily by putting that time to work.

So don't feel down about it, it’s a nice car, there is hype and good demand, so sometimes you gotta pay if you are getting to cut the queue, I know I will.

Tbh, I have to take a printout of their accessories brochure and then sit with my wife to play tick-tac-toe to pick what all we want, there is some really good stuff.

So far this is all I had in mind:

-(Maybe) The mats and all the basic stuff, minus car cover. Never used on previous cars, waste of money. Mats I could take from outside too but I think company fitted ones, fit better.

-Pretty much the exterior kit they have on the demo cars, specially that side door badge/stick thing with Morris Garrage emprinted on it.

I must say, I really appreciated by the amount of exterior customization options MG did for Comet, so happy to see same goes for Windsor to cope up with a otherwise unusual look.

-Tyre Inflator, MG brochure shows a really slick tyre inflator, and they call it "wireless" which I guess is probably "chargeable". I definitely want that rather than the current standard of wired-box inflators available.

-Portable Vacuum, same with Ture Inflator, looks sleek and sick and the options available in market not so good (from experience).

-MG Dashcam, only reason is their price is pretty decent and they will (hidden) wire for you.

-Side-step board, pretty much everyone wants it in a SUV-like car, and coming from a Skoda Octavia user, the car felt a bit high to step in and out of (than what I/wife used to). And again, the side-step board for Windsor looks very sick.

-Spare Wheel

-Screen Protector

-Rain/Weather deflector

-Sun-Shades (company/car fit)

-(Maybe) Rail roof garnish

-(Maybe) Rear Bull Bar, again, something that looks very sick and practical than after-market Bull Bars. My Octavia had those little rear scratches and chip offs from Autos/Bikes using your car's rear to stop in traffic, I want them away.

-Parcel Shelf (cause our Shih Tzu sits/sleeps there)

-(Maybe) Dashboard organizer (loose change, tickets, etc.) cause the damn dashboard is so huge, better to utilize that space behind screen

-(Maybe) cooler and warmer cup holder, need to understand how it works precisely. Can be handy considering Glove Box is not cooled.

Attaching some pics for some of the stuff mentioned above, also attached the accessories brochure.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Got a call yesterday to complete the formalities. Went ahead and paid all (loan from SBI), and 50K on Credit card (no charge).
I had a quote from Policy-Bazaar for 43K from United India insurance.
However MG refused to entertain the quote and I ended up paying 17K extra to get their insurance. Else, I was told I could be pushed back.
Lot of push to get their PPF/ Ceramic (3M) pre delivery.- So far I have said no to that.
I was told that survey for charger will happen closer to delivery, and Charger installation will happen the day after delivery.
So, apart from the 17K extra on insurance, I have a possible loss of interest on loan for 2 weeks (10K approx)
I am told the vehicle is in transit.

Given that PPF is outside my purview (1.06Lakhs by MG), I am looking for Ceramic or Graphene detailers (I am still unclear about the differences between them and which is better/ economical).
Preferably having their workshop in the Whitefield Area.
MG has quoted 3M ceramic for 40K and have said will be done in a day's time.
I have read elsewhere that these processes take a couple of days.
So, I need some guidance here

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Showroom people have been following up with me since monday. They said vehicle has been allocated and asked me to close the loan formalities.

Charger survey was completed a couple of days back and it was just a formality as we aren't allowed to install individual chargers in our parking (yet)! We have a few chargers installed which are used commonly and billed once a month.

I had finished the loan agreement on saturday itself so got it disbursed on Tuesday. I went with MG finance dept as they had a tie up with 16 banks. The process was smooth and everything was completed in a day.

I asked if I could get delivery on Thursday and they said not possible as PDI and test drive was still pending from the dealer side.

Got another call from the showroom today. They asked what accessories I wanted and if I wanted PPF. I gave them the list of accessories and said no for ppf. Looks like saturday will be the day of delivery. I am going ahead with the MG insurance for this year.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I'm seeing a quote for 32.5K from United India on PolicyBazaar. Since this is a brand new car, you can do a lower IDV and top up with a Return to Invoice. If your car's repair bill is close to the actual IDV, the insurance company typical totals the car and gives you the invoice value. RTI can only be availed for the 1st 3 years of a car's life.

I'm talking with the dealer about a matching quote but I dont think they will give a competitive one. They're talking about how their insurance is cashless with them vs United India isnt but I'm not inclined to pay a significant premium for that. Lets see.

I'm being told that the delivery can happen in a few days

Currently not getting any PPF/Ceramic coating, need to think about whether to do ceramic coating at least.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

People at MG are clueless about vehicle allocation. I am getting impatient on the allocation. One thing came to mind to look in for the Nexon Ev with ready delivery. Can anyone please put some light on this? Both cars have their own Pros and cons.

As someone in a similar situation where since last 7 days I am hearing from MG delhi they are getting cars in next 2 days and again and again being told next week, I also weighed in my alternate options Nexon 45, Curvv and ZS EV.
Needless to say ZS is outdated and Curvv even with its hyper pricing has same internals as a nexon, its just a nexon with a boot.

Now the reality of things is, Nexon just sucks compared to Windsor, one might feel it has more "tech" features than Windsor, which is true, but overall Nexon's overall quality (interiors) are nothing infront of windsor, two times I made my mind for Nexon and both times I gave up after feeling its cheap plastic (touch) and pointed corners. Not to mention I hate that obnoxious steering wheel.

This might sting some people, but in terms of QA, Nexon feels more of a chinese car than Windsor, like they still havn't polished its fit and finish.

And here comes the last killer reason, the space. Nexon just feels way too small from inside after sitting in a windsor, hell windsor even makes ZS EV feels smaller in comparison.

There literally is no actual "build from ground EV" alternative in market right now, not even BYD. People might hate Windsor's design from outside, but that design has left so much room on inside that this car feels class apart.

And this is coming not just from me, but my wife too who is too used to the comfort and quality-creep of our Skoda Octavia (MKIV). Windsor is the only one she has allowed me to get if we want to replace the octavia.

That atleast is the reality of things for me.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Anyone getting impatient about the waiting time on the Windsor. Keep in mind that the base 38.1 kWh Windsor costs exactly the same as:

1. The Top End 29 kWh Citroen eC3 (which has less equipment)
2. The Top End 35 kWh Punch EV but without Sunroof and 7.2 kW charging (so, similarly equipped)
3. The Mid Range (Fearless Plus) 30 kWh Nexon EV without Sunroof (again, similarly equipped)
4. The base+1 variant of Creta/Seltos/Astor Manual with 1.5l NA Petrol engines.
5. The cheapest Diesel AT variants of cars like Nexon / 3XO.

All of the above without considering BaaS.

Well if you do end up going the Nexon route, you might only be getting the old lots that are currently in dealer's inventory or the Red Dark edition for the new ones.

I have been waiting for the last 1 week hoping that I would have a car allocated but nothing so far..

Absolutely true. In fact, the mid-variant of Windsor takes the sunroof / glass roof out of the equation but has most of the other good features, and costs about 15.5 on road in Kolkata.

The top end Punch EV (very similarly equipped in terms of space) costs 1 lakh less. But the space inside?

Nexon EV 45 fearless costs about 16 lakhs on road. It is not even similarly equipped. It doesn't have the 360 camera and misses some more features.

The Windsor EV comes with all four windows one touch up/down with anti-pinch. It also has tilt and telescopic steering. Plus, beats the other cars in the same price bracket in terms of comfort.

The rear seats of Nexon ev have very high floor. Even a short person feels that.

However, the Nexon 45 has about 100km more real world range.

It would be Fearless Plus 40.5. Or slots between Fearless and Empower Nexon 45.

The pricing is the reason for such demand for the Windsor.

What sort of offers are you getting for the ZS Executive or Excite Pro?

More or less 1lac cash discount (top variant had I think 1.25L), 20k loyalty discount, 10k accessories discount and around 1L exchange bonus if I exchange my comet with them.

Tbh kind of meh for a outdated car, its no doubt still the most reliable EV on road and king of road trips with range, but the interiors feel too outdated now.
After comet, I want my EV to feel like a EV and not like a ICE car.
