Hi, this seems to be just a charging port extender. It's not a charger. Basically useful in road trips to remote locations, or if your home charging point is not feasible, but you'll still need to use a charger with it.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

MG Windsor becomes India’s best-selling electric car in October 2024.

JSW MG Motor India recorded strong sales for its recently launched MG Windsor in October 2024, with 3,116 units sold. This figure accounted for nearly 30% of the total passenger electric vehicle sales in the country during the month.

It's a great achievement for MG and shows that a well-priced, decently-equipped electric car can sell very well in the Indian market. MG should bring the bigger battery variant as well sooner rather than later. These numbers also reveal that none of Tata's electric cars sell more than 3000 cars monthly. Nexon EV alone used to sell 4000 cars per month in 2022. Now even with 5 different EVs in the lineup (Nexon, Punch, Tiago, Tigor, Currv EVs), Tata's total EV sales are stuck around 5000 to 6000 per month.

While great achievement, it seems that these numbers aren't matching from what is published in https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/elect...-analysis.html (October 2024: Electric Four Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis). Wonder what of the source of each are actually.

The numbers shared in the other thread are registration numbers from the govt's Vahan website. In many states, the actual registrations happen well after the sale. In general, manufacturers count the sales for the dispatches in that particular month. This is what all the companies release as sales in the first 2-3 days of a new month. Team-bhp's monthly sales numbers also are based on these dealer dispatches.

So, based on the sales numbers from manufacturers (dealer dispatches), MG Windor is the best-selling EV in October. For comparison, Tata has dispatched 5,355 EVs (-2% YoY) in total for October. These numbers spread across multiple models (Tiago, Punch, Nexon, Currv, and Tigor EVs). So, MG is claiming no other EV model sold more than 3,116 in October.

3116 number is dealer dispatches which will include test drive cars, display cars. All of these are not registered. The overall MG EV sales is from Vahan dashboard which doesn't include Telangana data as it is not on vahan

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

A big hiccup with installation of 7.4kw charger in my apartment. The distance from the meter is ~100m and hence the wiring is prohibitively expensive and technically challenging. I have no option but to get a 16A socket installed and charge using portable charger. Any idea how and where to sell the 7.4kw charger I have received with the car? Will the buyer be able to utilize the free installation from the Vendor Exicom?

Can you share the charges? How much are they charging you per meter? I was told up to 50m is free after that is chargeable.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Upto 50m is for MG ZS EV itseems. They are telling me it is 10m for Windsor. Anyone who has installed fast charger please can confirm.
Additional wiring is 700/meter and they will use 10sqmm 3 core wire.
What is the wire that I should use to setup the 16A plug considering the distance to meter is ~100m. The Exicom person told for slow charger they use 2.5sqmm for <80m and suggested me to go with 4 sqmm 3 core wire due to the distance.

Please recheck 50 meters claim as my charger survey states only 10 meter is included and beyond 10 meters is chargeable.

I think you are right. This was claimed by a showroom executive when I had gone for a test drive. He must have told me based on the ZS EV experience.
As Windsor EV is cheaper hence, it may just be 10 meters. My distance is 55 meters from the electrical unit. I specifically booked the top-end model as the fast charger was coming free with it. With the mid variant I was told it will cost around 40K - 50K. I think I might now switch to the mid variant. Any clue what are the differences between the top and mid variant?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Good day, I am a prospective Windsor owner who is eagerly waiting for delivery sometime next month. If any owners (Lucky ones) can clear air around few things it would be really helpful.

1. Does AC ( air conditioning) work while the car is getting charged on a DC fast charger (or AC charger- even though limited scope)

2. Is there a USB port for powering dash cam directly present on the IRVM in mid and top end variants?. Apparently the base one with manual auto dim has USB port. Nice touch !

3. Clay beige is conspicuously missing in all online reviews and showrooms ( atleast ones in Chennai). Did anyone see that in flesh and any opinions on the looks would be greatly appreciated.

4. Did anyone get their hands on these accesories

A) front parking sensors - what is the scope of their function, will we get any software on screen or they just get activated at low speed.

B) front grill element with name in chrome ( all media and display cars have completely black with morris garages in black too in an embossed kind of look) I personally feel chrome text will go good on the black beast.

C) spare wheel on top trim, will they fix woofer to the spare ? Will it be easy for us to use in case of emergencies.

5. Can wipers be lifted off windscreen easily for routing cleaning, or we should put in wiper maintenance mode everytime through the screen as mentioned in manual( apartment cleaning bhaiyas nightmare)

Any answer or thought will be helpful

1. Ventilated front seats.
2. Moon roof.
3. 9 speaker system with sub woofer.
4. Fast charger.
5. 256 colour ambient lights.
6. Air filter

These are additional in the top variant compared to mid.

Mid variant is real value for money compared to the base variant if you don’t need the fast charger, summers don’t get too hot in your place, and the speaker system doesn’t excite you.
