On the ZS EV, it takes 25 hours for 0 - 100% charging session on the portable charger. I have been living with this for around 2 years now and it's been totally fine.

The portable charger is referred to as a 3.3 kW charger but in reality it charges at 2 - 2.4 kW. Folks grappling with thickness of wire to use this. Max draw will be 10A to 12A. So a 4 sq mm should be sufficient which is what I am using.

There is no need to ensure car hits 100% everytime you plug in. On an 8 hour charge you should get 100 KMs of real world range which should be sufficient for most. If you really need that quick charge, a 15 minute DC top up should get you on your way. I have had to do this only once in my ownership journey.

I don't recommend the 7.2 kW charger for most people. The reason is that it adds a lot of cost with very little marginal benefit. More expensive wiring, initial costs in load enhancement, ongoing extra electricity bills due to higher load, more expensive charger.

Manufacturers don't want to shock customers with super long charging times and scare away prospective buyers. But once you become an EV owner and get accustomed to overnight charging at home, it becomes quite straightforward.

It may not be so for the first time as you will have to trade off stock tires at low rate, but definitely for future replacements.

Thank you for the insight. I guess all windsor owners should consider this option. In my case if the ride gets better I would definitely keep the stock tyres with me and swap them on before service.

I got a chance to drive windsor day before yesterday and it only made me appreciate Nexon ev's ride quality. I guess Nexon ev has 16 inch tyres.

I would be waiting for your feedback on tyre swap eagerly.

Yup. I can confirm it. Turning on the autohold does not engage it all the time. You have to press the brake firmly or hold it in for a while or double tap it (not completely sure about this one yet) for it to engage. If you don't, autohold isn't automatically engaged.

Pressing brake firmly engages the autohold. Light tap on accelerator activates creep mode. The transition is seamless. The option to switch on or off the autohold is on the screen. Once switched on, it stays so even after restarting the car.

The same doesn’t hold true for drive modes and regen levels. It is always reset to normal mode and heavy regen. Any hack for retaining the previously used drive modes?

Unfortunately, there's no hack for this. There's a customisable button on the steering wheel and I've set that to drive modes. This makes it a little easier but yeah, that's still not perfect.

I spoke to my sales rep about this a few days back and she says there's no way to do it.

The only silver lining is that this is a software issue. So, maybe if enough of us ask for this, there could be an update in the future? I know it's a stretch but that's pretty much our only hope, I think.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Anyone from Mumbai has any updates on delivery timelines ? I had prebooked on 11th September and still haven't been allocated the car. My RM keeps mentioning that T. Green in top Variant is in short supply. I have also informed them that I will be purchasing on down-paymen so there are no loan related issues as well. If anyone has any updates please share

1. Does AC ( air conditioning) work while the car is getting charged on a DC fast charger (or AC charger- even though limited scope)

2. Is there a USB port for powering dash cam directly present on the IRVM in mid and top end variants?. Apparently the base one with manual auto dim has USB port. Nice touch !

3. Clay beige is conspicuously missing in all online reviews and showrooms ( atleast ones in Chennai). Did anyone see that in flesh and any opinions on the looks would be greatly appreciated.

4. Did anyone get their hands on these accesories

A) front parking sensors - what is the scope of their function, will we get any software on screen or they just get activated at low speed.

B) front grill element with name in chrome ( all media and display cars have completely black with morris garages in black too in an embossed kind of look) I personally feel chrome text will go good on the black beast.

C) spare wheel on top trim, will they fix woofer to the spare ? Will it be easy for us to use in case of emergencies.

5. Can wipers be lifted off windscreen easily for routing cleaning, or we should put in wiper maintenance mode everytime through the screen as mentioned in manual( apartment cleaning bhaiyas nightmare)

Any answer or thought will be helpful
1. AC does work when the car is getting charged. You'll even get a little message on the screen saying that keeping the AC on will reduce charging speed. (I think they mean that it won't get charged as fast as it would without AC on.)

2. I've bought MG's dashcam and had it installed before delivery. Nope. There's no USB port on the IRVM (I only know about the essence variant)

3. I've seen one Beige Windsor and it was in the parking lot of the MG showroom. It was right next to the white model and I'm not entirely sure I'll ever be able to tell the difference between them. DO NOT go by the digital photos that we've seen. It's not like that. It's pretty much white.

4. I didn't opt for any of those accessories.

5. I forgot to tell my apartment bhaiya not to lift the wipers up. He lifted them and cleaned the car. I haven't noticed any difference. I think the main reason for having the maintenance mode is for when you have to change the wipers. At least, that's what I think.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

My journey to choosing the ZS EV Excite Pro was quite an adventure, Now I am happy to share the details here.

I initially booked the ZS EV back in July with a dealer in Calicut, Kerala, but held off on finalizing it due to ongoing rumors about the Windsor launch and its rumored features. Despite receiving multiple calls from my dealer reassuring me that no new vehicle was on the horizon, I wanted to be certain. My media colleagues confirmed the same .

On October 15th, I finally took a short test drive of Windsor. While it handled well between 50-90 km, I noticed the suspension stiffness at lower speeds (below 50 km/h), which concerned me. I wasn’t ready to make a final decision just yet, so I requested an early-morning extended test drive the following day before the showroom opened. The executive agreed, and I covered about 35 km in that drive, hoping it would clarify things. I even tried another drive with reduced tire pressure, hoping it might soften the ride, but unfortunately, it made no difference.

Still undecided, I traveled with two friends to another dealer about 60 km from home to test the Windsor again, hoping to justify its premium price. However, after multiple test drives and experimenting with tire pressure adjustments, the stiffness and lack of back seat comfort were undeniable. That sealed my decision.

Ultimately, I decided the ZS EV was the better choice for me. I opted for the Pearl White Excite Pro model, and on October 26th, it was finally delivered. Now, after driving it over 1,000 km, I'm thrilled with my choice! The ZS EV has been a joy to drive.

Nice review. I personally feel for this price tag they offered good Car. If they introduced it with 50 Kwh battery cost would have been surged atleast 15% . Also they made a master move by bringing their BaaS option for ZS and Comet. MG Mangalore dealer recently told they have good amount of bookings for Windsor and meanwhile they are quite worried about the sales of Commet after this Successful launch of Windsor.

The Mysore dealer didn’t have the Dashcam at the time of delivery.
From where has the power for Dashcam taken from? Do they use the 12V port under the hand rest??

No, the dashcam comes with a USB A power intake. So, it's plugged into the USB port below the big screen.

About accessories, I haven't received two accessories yet (Window visors and a screen guard for the big screen). They're saying that in about three weeks, a huge shipment of accessories is coming in. Hopefully, Mysuru will get a big batch in, too!

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I plan to get the 2K Resolution MG Dash Cam with the rear one as an add on. If anyone has purchased the same, can you please post pictures? Also, can anyone using the MG dashcam share their experience of the app. Photos and videos of the app UI would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I have seen the beige in person at the showroom last weekend. It was being made ready for delivery, so there should be at least one beige Windsor running on Delhi roads. It's a creamy off-white shade. Very different from the nexon oxide as that has touch of bluish grey in it. This is closer to white. It looked quite good, so much so that my wife mentioned that we can change our booking from green to beige if we want to. But that's more of personal preference, maybe others won't like it.

Has anyone here booked their vehicle from the MG BU Bhandari Wakad branch? Have you received your vehicle or any eta on delivery?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

In Windsor EV connected car features, does it have Remote AC On/Off temperature control? With so much glass, I am just concerned that during peak summer time, the car will become very hot. So if it has this function of precooling before entering in the car, it would be beneficial.
