Yes, i paid full money last week. Today I have been told that a vehicle has been allotted to me. However, date of delivery is yet to be confirmed. I had to buy insurance from them, much against my wishes else the allotment would have been further delayed. And yes, insurance price increased for 80,000 to 93,000 without explanation!

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I don't know how you guys are ready to pay inflated insurance and accessories cost. I will totally put my foot down and never encourage such practices. Id rather cancel the car than over pay.

I have made 2 bookings one directly with dealer and one through acko where I am being offered competitive insurance rate and the concerned dealer told me that I will have to buy coating and accessories I flat out declined that I won't go ahead with any purchase that comes with such strings attached.

Same with direct booking if they force insurance, accessories and other stuff I will politely declined there as well.

For reference i paid less than 60k for insurance of a top end petrol Automatic XUV 700 a couple of months ago with almost everything covered. Is this high insurance quote due to this being an electric vehicle.

I absolutely feel disgusted to play their way and make a 45 day advance payment in full. However unfair it may seem this is the cost of living in a city like Mumbai, where demand and supply economics forces us to take irrational decisions. When asked for an explanation for the surge in insurance cost, the SA gave some vague explanation which even the SA didn't understand, the tone was like pay up or shut up. Most of the metro city dealerships (Bengaluru, Chennai) are receiving dispatches in huge numbers, as they should.. because I believe maximum bookings are from metro cities, however if I have to believe the dealership story, Mumbai is hardly getting any car allotment. It seems an artificial scarcity is been created to gain some extra premium from the customers. Such petty tactics by dealerships don't go long way when it comes to customer relationship. The dealership is also associated with different brands in Mumbai and I would be very careful in making recommendations.

True that. This dealership has been exceptionally bad. They are quite a big company dealing with multiple brands, hence the arrogance I assume. I wonder if the other dealerships in Mumbai behave in a similar manner! Anyways, looks like I shall get my vehicle this month. Things seem to have started moving now....fingers crossed!

Even I am facing similar situation with this dealer. I have paid the full amount since almost 20 days. This after arguing that full amount is to be paid after allocation, but they insisted that if you want early delivery you will have to pay in advance, inspire of the fact that I had pre booked on launch Day in spetember. They are saying that it is under allocation since last 10 days. Insurance negotiations are underway.

After reading all the Mumbai-based dealership experiences, I feel that mine is a heaven on earth. The dealership called me yesterday to inform that T. Green top end is going to take some time to arrive, maybe late December or January. They said if I could shift to any other color they will try to deliver it in the next couple of weeks.

Till date my dealership has not asked me for any payment apart from the booking amount. Infact, they themselves said we won't take a penny from you until the car is allotted. If it's cheque payment they will take it three days before PDI and if it is RTGS they will take it post PDI. They agreed for third party PDI and for insurance also they said you are free to take it from outside (at least for now). Accessories also they said you can customise or take everything or drop everything all together.

Even yesterday, when I called the dealership again and said I wanted the T.Green variant only, they said no problem, we will work hard to get it for you. Indeed God bless my dealership.

Which dealership is this? There are only 2. The one where I have booked is Jubilant Motors and Original booking made at Bu Bhandari Wakad.

Jubilant guy was saying coating and accessories will make your delivery process faster and easier.

So the one where I booked is B.U. Bhandari Wakad. Actually there are four B.U. Bhandari showrooms in Pune.

One of my neighbours got the top end black from Jubliant on November 1. But they had booked it on Sept 11. They got zero accessories with the car. I don't think they went with coating also.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I have made the booking…
I have opted for black essence.
Dealer told me they will try to get it mid dec…
I have not shown any urgency to them and even I have told them that I might cancel it if I find any other car more interesting.
They have told me that insurance which they are asking for 90k is optional also acc. Are optional…
In accessories also they are charging for 500k more pf each and every accessory, I dont know why.
Also they wanted me to get ceramic from them for which they are asking 30k, which I have denied already.
I have told them that all thing ill decide after the pdi of the car.
My friend also got the same car feom them last month - he got insurance from outside in 40k. But he had to buy accessories and ceramic from them as he was asking for early delivery, which they said that some vehicle is cancelled so we will arrange you that.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Can somebody please share their experience with charging times with the portable charger and 16A plug? My car took almost 10.5 Hrs to go from 31 to 96%. ~6-6.5% per hour. Below is the screen shot I took from MG iSMART app.

This (6-7% per hour) is pretty much what we have, sometimes 8% at most, but not at a stretch. It is supposed to take about 13 hours overall, but the time is not always consistent. Although it says 3.3kW, it usually doesn't go up to that level. Looking at several other videos (Nexon EV etc) I figured this is normal.

From the screen shot, it's already charging at 2.6 kW at DC side. AC side it will be pulling around 13A (2.75 kW+ with conversion losses). You cannot charge more than this, since the plug and socket will get hot.
