So if you choose to opt for showroom insurance it falls under MG Secure. They give it to you via insurers like ICICI, Bajaj alianz etc but MG decides the terms of these policies hence, it is called showroom insurance. I will rephrase my question, how many here opted for showroom insurance and for how much did you guys get it ? Also were you given a quote like this from RenewBuy ?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Pardon me for bringing up the topic of insurance again. As a first time EV buyer, I had few doubts on battery coverage under water flooding. Most base policies include protection of the car under flood conditions, inundation, cyclone/storm, etc. So, why would we need to go for the add-on EV Shield (equivalent) that covers the EV Battery system and related components?

Chat GPT helped me with the following summary:
---
The base policy provides cover for the car under water inundation, but does not provide cover for the battery, motor, and electricals under water ingression.

Water Inundation vs. Water Ingression

1. Water Inundation:
- Refers to the vehicle being submerged or surrounded by floodwaters.
- Damages: External (body, interiors) or static components (upholstery, non-electrical parts).
- Example: Your car is parked during a flood, and water damages the seats or exterior.
- Covered by Base Policy: Yes, as part of flood/natural calamity coverage.

2. Water Ingression:
- Refers to water seeping into critical components like the engine, battery, or electronics.
- Damages: Internal, often caused while driving through waterlogged areas.
- Example: Water enters the EV battery or engine, causing a short circuit or hydrostatic lock.
- Covered by Base Policy: Usually excluded unless stated (e.g., with an add-on).

---

Key Difference:
- Inundation: Damage from external exposure to water.
- Ingress: Damage from water entering internal systems, leading to consequential damage.

The add-on policy specifically covers water ingression, which is crucial for EVs as the base policy excludes such consequential damage.

-----
While this is based on GoDigit Insurance, this is broadly true of most insurers.

The cover for the EV Protect seems pretty expensive, at about 1% of the car invoice cost (GoDigit) at Rs 15.5k. This is almost the same price as the Own-Damage premium (Rs 16.4k) which protects the whole car against a myriad of accidental conditions, including fire, flood, earthquake, etc!

Given that I park my car at the top of a sloping road in Bangalore, and I will mostly avoid taking my car out during rains, I am thinking of giving this add-on a pass.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hello everyone got mine on Dhanteras 29.10.2024 turquoise green. Since then have clocked 1900+ kms ok the Windsor. Wanted to write this review a little early but was occupied with 2 of sisters weddings the work of 'Bhai' was taken care of properly.

The Windsor is a head Turner with Zero Privacy everyone peeps into what's inside of the car.

I got the insurance with transferring my old car NCB of 50% at 30,500 with all add ons like nil dep, RTI, key protection, tyre protection etc. I told the dealer clearly since you are selling 30,000 worth of accessories of your choice I will not buy the insurance from you.

The ride at the rear sometimes feel jerky but since we mostly drive on good road in Chandigarh and surroundings it's doable.

Range is not much I guess not more than 230 in normal and 270 in eco+. But since the vehicle has crossed the 1500 km mark and a software update has been done the eco+ mode has enough power with 4 adults in car and the vehicle pulls tirelessly (which it earlier didn't) and the normal mode has been made to use very less forget sports.

In the music system I felt the option to change the Treble, Bass should have been made at our choice rather than setting on the equaliser.

Charge Installation and all of us are discussing here- the person visited for the feasibility check well before the vehicle was even dispatched from plant the installation was to be done next to wall of my MCB box at home so not even 1 ft of wire was to be used. He mentioned that they need a 32amp isolator that's it so we called our local technician and he did the job. Once the car was delivered they guy came after 5 days due to Diwali being in middle and installed the charger in about a hours time. With my car the charger from Spin came.

I have charged it At public chargers availing the free charge when ever I am free or go somewhere and I get a charger and plug it in.

Here's my ownership video from a youtuber

The smart drive function on the MG iSmart app has stopped working since 2 days ago. Anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to make it work again?

Thanks a lot. I now have an idea on how to deal with the SA. My car is expected to arrive by month end.

I saw this video on youtube 2 hours after it was uploaded. All in all great review and yes I am going to keep in mind the golden words you said regarding buyer’s remorse about buying today vs waiting for later.

Is MG's BaaS a success? Any data about how many Windsors are sold as BaaS ? What about ZS EV and comet BaaS ?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I saw this heavily camouflaged Windsor near Mansi Circle Ahmedabad day before yesterday. Is this 50 kWh Windsor in works?

Excuse blurry pics as it was taken in moving car by co-passenger.

Looks like a base variant in testing. Maybe they are training it for ADAS?

I did first long journey (about 7 hours) in Windsor yesterday. In my 30 mins kid complained about stomach ache. Seats were swapped by kid and wife, and within next hour wife started feeling motion sickness. We completed entire next journey by sitting all in front (large kid on wife's lap). Today I wanted to have feel of back seat, so in short journey i travelled in the back. I, who never had any kind of problem while travelling, felt like vomiting after 20mins. Rear suspension is Pathetic. I wonder if it was tested before launching or not.

I am thinking of putting some dead weight in the boot maybe 50/100kg etc as a temporary solution. I think I will need to fit retrofitted coil springs just to make this vehicle usable for rear people, I will be loosing warranty but what if we fit original springs again before claiming the warranty? can this work? also can insurance claim get rejected with such modifications?

Mine is also stopped from 11th December, there are no entries after that. No issues with car internet.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Can anyone suggest which car's coil spring can fit on windsor(rear) which will support the weight and can provide better softer ride?

I have checked process of replacing the same and its very straight forward, I can get it done at FNG or maybe by self too. Also I am open to trying 3-4 different coils to experiment with.

I had the exact feeling after test driving the ZS EV. I thought it was just me and let it go but maybe there are people like me.

I think its a combination of knees up position, very soft suspension and maybe the AC vents position which produce different kind of air flow, I don't know. Experts can comment. Had the same with comet also.
