This is strange and shocking.
Guys, please be careful.

Wonder what happened here?
The car seems to have suffered no dents whatsoever even after bumping into a wall! Either there is a gap in this story, or the Windsor has real good bumper and paint work

In my understating the offer is only valid for deliveries made by December 31st. The dealer says I will still get it, but I am not sure I can trust them since they have made many false promises about the delivery since November.
I got it delivered on 28th December and can confirm that free public charging is available. There is hope for you too even if it is delayed to January.

My reasoning is based on the fact that the dealer did not have to do anything on his side for this to get activated. I just had to download ehub by MG and register using my mobile number and add my vehicle details. For Windsor it automatically recognises free charging as 100% off for Windsor ev.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hello Beautiful People.

First of all, Happy New Year!

Secondly, say hello to Aries. Got Team-BHP membership confirmed and got my Windsor Essence delivered on the same day (yesterday). What a day! Anyways, thanks to everyone on this forum, who made this purchase decision easier with valuable information. Be it regarding delivery process or insurance, I found this thread to be very helpful. I did get Free Charging and Unlimited warranty, without BAAS. And since I took delivery on 31st, I paid same introductory price (although the dealership guys were unsure how long the pricing will hold). Associates at the dealership at Rajajinagar - Bangalore were very helpful and informative. They did suggest buying their insurance, but understood that it is ridiculously priced, and suggested I can opt for ACKO (only water logging not covered - chance I had to take considering the options available and price). Anyways, hit me up with any questions you have. I'll try my best to answer them. Cheers.

Congratulations on your purchase. Black colour look awesome.
I have a question.
My Windsor essence was supposed to be delivered yesterday. But at the time of delivery, ehub app did not display anything. My car is not registered with RTO yet so I have to skip the option on the ehub app. I just added my name , registered phone number and selected Windsor EV from the options presented. But it doesn't show anything yet. I delayed my delivery fir the same reason, till this issue is settled.
Dealership has no clue regarding the issue, they say they have done everything from there end and has asked me to wait for few days.
I called up ehub customer care , who acknowledged that no car is registered at my number.
I have also mailed regarding this issue to MG

My question is your car already registered before delivery?
And if not what does it show besides the credentials you have entered?
Can you attach pictures of the displayed information on the app.
Strange but myMG app too show that my car is booked, doesnot show anything else. It should ideally show details of my car including chasis number and motor number?

Hi Sachin,

Yes! My car was registered before delivery. So the registration of eHub became easier. As far as I can remember, you need the registration number to completely activate the app. It essentially enables free charging, ergo, it probably won't go to the final step until the app recognizes your car i.e., the registration number. Once you complete registration, your are greeted with home page that displays all the chargers near by. In the Profile section, you get to My Vehicles that has the car/owner info, where the registration number will be displayed. Hope this helps.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I don't understand MG's product lineup at all. The ZS EV has a bigger battery pack, yes, but in every other way, it feels inferior to the Windsor. It looks totally outdated and has a lot less space on the inside and both cars seem similar on the features front. It almost feels like if the Windsor gets a larger battery, it'll kill the ZS EV.

Hi thanks for quick reply. Actually that's the issue, All these information is available even without putting registration number. It displays nearby chargers with rate displayed( Rs 8-18per KW). The app displays all the info which you add nothing more. I thought it would display charging rate as zero as per the offer.

Infact You don't even need to add "registered" mobile number for this information. You may use any mobile number to login at the app and then start adding any car which you may not even own just skipping registration number.

Question is how does one know free charging offer is applied. All chargers shown have price tag displaying per unit charging rate.

Hope you get your issue solved. I believe once you enter your registered vehicle details, it will automatically be allocated free charging status. For how long this will be true, is yet to be known. For example see my screenshot below with the ribbon saying 100% off for Windsor EV.

MG Windsor EV Review-img_7799.jpeg

As you can see, there are filters for payable and non-payable. The latter being the free charging stations that is applicable for Windsor. Hope this made it clear for you. Cheers!

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Happy New Year everyone. I finally took delivery of my T. Green Windsor on the last day of the year (31st December 2024). For someone who had let go of driving for the last 12 years, it was great to be back behind the wheel. What a beautifully engineered machine this is. Had an amazing ride bringing it home. Very simple and easy to drive.

I still remember when I was booking the vehicle online, I had selected white, and at the last minute, my mother said go for green. After months of waiting for green due to heavy demand, the dealership requested that I shift to white for earlier delivery. We shifted to white in early december but destiny had its way, the dealership called us on 23rd saying instead of white they have received green and if I was okay switching back to green. We were delighted to receive our choice of color at last.

The vehicle overall is amazing and I think I am too late to the party to sing its praises which others in this thread have already mentioned. However, I will mention a few of glitches or issues which I have noticed.

1. Currently, I am getting around 1.5 km per percent in normal mode. If I am not wrong, I should get around 2.5-3.3kms per percent to get the 250-330km range in 100%. I don't know if this is because it's a new vehicle and the battery needs to cycle a bit. Would like to know if anyone else faced this?

The dealership gave it to me on 97% with 13kms driven. I drove around 25kms which brought down the battery to 80%. So 17% battery was used which means around 1.5kms per percent.

2. I tested the 7.4 KW charger and it was charging at just 1.3KWh. I called the technician he said after 80% the charger charges slowly. Try when the battery is at 10-20%, it will use 7.4KW. So I will test this in a few days but has anyone faced the same?

3. When the ORVM's opens the left one opens slightly faster than the right one. The right one lags behind. I don't know if this is by design or a flaw. Anyone else noticed this?

4. Everytime I ride the vehicle to a location or bring it back home. The app shows that the current location is unavailable and it stays like that for the next 4-5 hours. After that, it starts showing the location again.

5. I used the 360 degree camera during my entire drive. So I set the customisable button on the steering wheel to turn on the 360 degree camera. Made it easier to switch between maps and 360 degree camera on the fly.

Now, whenever I used the indicator to turn right or left, the screen would switch from the front camera to the left or right camera and remain like that even after the turn. It wouldn't switch back to the front camera unless I hit the button on the steering wheel twice, first to turn off the camera and then turn it on again. Once I did this, the camera would function normally and start showing me the frontal view again. Anyone on the same boat as me?

Lastly, does everyone's 360 camera show a white Windsor irrespective of the color they have? It was just something which caught my eye.

To sum it up, I am really loving the feel of driving this vehicle. I am enjoying it. My parents are enjoying the front and rear passenger seats. Ohh and this vehicle looks so drop dead gorgeous that someone approached me and started asking all the details about the car. I think it's something that is going to happen a lot. Happy New Year everyone. Safe travels.

Thanks that's what I was looking for.
The dealer is delivering all the cars in last few days without registration. I guess registrations are delayed at RTO end.
So that might be the reason for ehub app not registering my car. The car has to be registered first. I hope they continue free charging offer atleast to those who fulfilled condition of December delivery but car not registered due to RTO issues.
Anyway dealer also said that they have received mail from MG that they will extend free charging offer to those whose Invoicing is done in December but delivery extended to January.
But they have to acknowledge this issue.

Yes, this is primarily due to this being a new vehicle. Wait for 1-2 charge cycles for battery to calibrate and after that it will give proper range. This happened with me as well as it was a new car and we had more usage of the car while standstill for learning the functions and all and showing the car to others. Car continues to consume battery, especially if AC is on.

This is mainly because above 80% car will try to do balancing of the cells and hence speed reduces. Try charging at 20-30% and see it should charge at 18A.

I have seen this in many cars and it is by design. Due to some reason one orvm lags another.

Same thing happens with me as well, no idea why? My parking is covered parking and may be GPS is not reachable?

I dont use 360 camera while driving and I would strongly recommend once you get hang of the car, stop using it while driving. Also remember above speeds of 20 kph, there is lag in 360 camera which makes it hazardous. Try to use it only at low speeds.

Yes, it always shows while essense variant with sunroof even though I have exclusive variant without sunroof. Also notice the wheels of the car donot spin when car is moving! Looks so weird! Hope MG fixes this bug soon.

Hi drsachin. I have not added any details of my vehicle in ehub (not even registration number), but i am still able to avail the free charging benefit. There is a blue tab above the displayed chargers indicating 100% free charging for MG Windsor.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

1. I took it on a small trip on delivery day and it was around 2.5 kms per % of SOC. Maybe try going on a long drive and check again to see if the battery drain stabilizes. Also someone mentioned that it suddenly started discharging rapidly after a few days and a software update fixed it. For me, there’s no software update available and it’s already updated to the latest version.

2. I have not used the portable 3 KW charger or the 7 KW charger as the technician is yet to install it. I have relied on DC charging ( ZEON free charging ) till now. Once I charged it from 9% to 93% and it took around 1 hour. Next time I charged it from 65% to 100% and it took roughly 35 mins. From what I observed, the battery charges quickly when it is in the lowest SOC and slows down gradually as the SOC crosses 50%. This I believe is to safeguard the battery life and keep the battery from falling off quickly.

3. After seeing your post, I do realize the the left side is slightly faster than the righ. It should be a design factor and almost all windsors must behave the same so we can cool off on this one.

4. I also own an Astor for the past three years andGPS tracking is mostly a miss than a hit. Rarely does it show the location when i actually need it to. Guess it might be the same story with Windsor as well. Luckily the other smart features fare better than the location tracing. Only when I let the vehicle sit out idle for a longer period there have been troubles with the battery.

5. I don’t use the 360 camera all the time so I haven’t tested this yet.

Hope this helps!

The ZS is an ICE converted to an EV, so the space is poor in comparison. It is also an old model which needs an update therefore has less modern interiors.

That being said, for people who prioritise price, space and interiors the Windsor is a clear winner. For people who prioritise power, range and safety the ZS is the better choice.

What makes ZS EV more safe compared to Windsor could you explain.
As far as I know both of them are not crash tested
