Thanks a lot. What is your experience with it? Is it scratch-resistant? I am just worried about scratches; hence, I have never used a car cover till date.

If the Quality/material of the cover is same as the one provided with Hector Plus, then it is light, thin & doesn't result in many scratches. Any cover can cause scratches & it really depends on how gentle we are with using the cover. Mind you, the cover is very thin (designed such way so that it doesn't result in heavy scratches), so if you try to remove the cover when its wet (especially during rainy season) it will definitely tear.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

After a waiting period of almost three months and a hectic back-and-forth with the dealer, I finally got my MG Windsor Essence Black model delivered last Saturday.

Despite a few minor issues, I really feel the vehicle was worth the wait. In just two days, I have already covered 250 km with four adults and three kids onboard, and the experience has been quite satisfying overall.

I heard many complaints about the lack of physical buttons, but I actually find this setup quite good. Since I am the the only driver of my car, I only need to set up things like the ORVM adjustments once. The main functions I use frequently, like high and low beam lights, wipers, and media controls—are easily accessible via the steering wheel and the right stalk. Other major function that i wanted was to change drive modes on the go, I assigned the configurable button on the steering wheel to change drive modes, and it works perfectly for me.

Cons:
  • Cabin Heat Issue: At the time of delivery (around 1 PM), it was extremely hot outside, and when I drove the car, the cabin felt really warm, even with the AC set to its lowest temperature. Adding sunfilm to the windows and windshield resolved the heat issue.
  • Intermittent CarPlay Connection: CarPlay connectivity is inconsistent, and there's occasional lag in music playback feedback, which can be frustrating.
  • Seat Comfort: The seat comfort isn't up to par compared to my previous MG Astor. My wife, who also noticed this, found it less comfortable, especially during longer drives.
  • Suspension Stiffness: The suspension felt a bit stiff, but no one else seemed to notice or feel it except me. It might be because I had read so many reviews about it beforehand that my brain was already on high alert.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hi,
I am glad to share the news that finally yesterday i got the delivery of my Turquoise Green Essence- MG Windsor from MG Malad West showroom , Mumbai
The family is happy and so am I. The delivery process was smooth. To drive, the car is fine but I still need to configure the buttons for quick access.

Does anyone know whether to go for ceramic or PPF ?. Will be going for Garware/ 3M sunfilms for sun protection.

Congrats. I myself got the delivery of my top end variant last Sunday. I am happy with the car so far except a few minor issues -
  • Connection with Android Auto is a real real real pain. I have hardly used calling and google maps thus far. The dealer said a FOTA update on 1st service should set things right. Hence maintaining patience. Hope it really solves the issue.
  • The one real con is the head unit. It looks half baked. The UI feels similar to a cheap aftermarket head unit available for older cars, not at all good.
  • The range on normal mode is around 230 kms. Surprisingly, on highway i covered 65 kms in around 21% battery loss, more than 300 kms range.
  • The cameras are at wierd angles when i switch on the indicator, not really helpful and there is a lag also on the display while reversing.

Overall, happy.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hello All

My account got approval today from teamBHP and very excited to write my first post !!!

I booked my Windsor Essence on 15th December (T Green). However after a few days my wife and son made me change to Pearl white. I liked T. Green more but had to go with family decision :-) . Informed the sales person about the color change and he said he will take care when car is allocated. My booking status still shows T Green though , not sure if we need to get it updated as well?

My dealer said deliver can be expected in late Feb or early March only. I cant wait to get it delivered.

One strange thing I noticed is that the booking status on MG site shows my expected delivery date as first week on Jan. However when I showed the same to the dealer he mentioned its not correct. Any of you had similar experience?

Also as of now they dont have any idea if there will be increase in price or if we will receive one year free charging. Can the folks who took delivery in jan please clarify?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Windsor - Faced battery drain issue in standstill condition due to Software glitch

Faced a battery drain issue with my new Windsor EV in initial few days. Battery used to drain by about 3% in around 8 hours when the car was in standstill condition. I used to get "Battery discharge Warning!" on I-Smart app every few hours. The issue was that something remained ON in the car's system even though it was locked and everything was OFF, thereby causing the battery to drain.

Thanks to Mr. Aman Patel from MG Service Centre in Wakad, Pune who was very prompt and supportive in resolving this issue. Eventually we found that Park Brake was remaining ON in standstill-locked condition instead of remaining OFF.

FINALLY THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED WITH A FACTORY RESET OF THE SOFTWARE

Snaps from ISmart:

Re: Windsor EV parasitic drain problem

This was faced by another member back in November. It was resolved post software update.

Nothing to worry about here.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

First Road Trip of about 700 kms in my New Windsor EV

Sequence of events:
  • Start location - Pune. SOC - 87%
  • Tried free charging at a ChargeZone charger between Sinnar and Nashik. But it didn't work. :(
  • Reached Deolali, near Nashik at SOC - 24%. Approx. 200 kms covered in 63%
  • Charged to 100% using portable charger at the place where we stayed.
  • Covered a distance of 160 kms in just 38% from Nashik to Dahanu as the road was down hill.
  • Charged at an HP petrol pump near Anjaneri, Nashik on the way to Dahanu. Paid for it and have claimed for reimbursement for the same from MG. Yet to receive it.
  • Covered a distance of about 275 kms in return journey to Pune in around 88% even with heavy traffic in Khandala ghat.
  • Only bad experience in this trip was attempting to charge free at ChargeZone charging stations through MG E-Hub app. It didn't work at all at multiple places and with multiple attempts. You end up spending too much time consulting MG and partner service centres with no resolution at all.
NOTE THAT MOST OF THE TIMES AC WAS OFF AND DRIVEN IN ECO+ OR ECO MODE!

Lesson Learned: Not to fall in MG's Free charging trap while doing outstation trips!

I felt the same. The cover quality is great. Better than what I ordered from Amazon. The amazon one felt like it will scratch the car. This one was nice but it feels thin and will over the years tear. But that's fine as long as the car doesn't get scratched.

So even I researched about this before taking delivery.

Ceramic coating is basically a seven-layer process which ultimately mixes with the paint to give it properties like glass. Now it won't look like glass but it will behave like glass. So if there is dust, dirt, water these things will glide off the paint just as it would do on a car. They won't stick to the paint. Also, there is added shine. Every ceramic coating also comes with top ups. In short, the 7th or last layer of coating is reapplied at certain intervals like every 6 months. So if you opt for a 3 year warranty ceramic coating you get two or three top ups. 5 year is more.

Coming to PPF, it is the best protection you can give to your car when it comes to dust, dirt and minor scratches. But it won't save you from ugly ones. It's like a film/screen guard all over your car and it also shines a lot. Now the thing is that PPF costs around 1L for a car like Windsor and whether you get PPF of Ceramic coating the life will not be more than 2-3 years. Maybe five.

In my opinion, rather than getting PPF done it's better to repaint the car after 3 or 5 years for fraction of the cost. You can repaint the car three times at the cost of a single PPF coating. Also, the car is bound to have some dents or scratches over the years. Not necessarily due to an accident but simple water cleaning over the years also causes hairline scratches. I would suggest ceramic coating as it will increase the longevity of your car from dust and scratches, and in case after three or five years you feel that the coating has faded off or there are scratches, you can get the car repainted. Mine is 3M ceramic coating. Here are some pictures of my T.Green early in the morning right after a wash.

Welcome to the forum. So, in my case, I was about to book white, but my mother asked me to go for T. Green. We booked T. Green, but the dealer requested that we switch to white for earlier delivery. So after I mailed them and my app was showing white. But after a few weeks, they again called me and asked if I was okay with T. Green as they didn't get white. So I mailed them again and got it changed to T. Green but this time, the app was showing white I didn't bother and later got T. Green delivered. So don't worry. Post delivery, my iSmart app has been showing T. Green, and so is the MyMG app.

Mine was showing delivery in the 5th week of Jan, then the 1st week, but I got it on 31st Dec. It doesn't matter, to be honest. The dealership has more control over all this. Only they can expedite your delivery.

I had heard car companies are going to increase prices but nothing has happened yet. They said the same last year but didn't anything. This is mostly to get more year end sales.

Welcome to the forum. Even I purchased my vehicle form the same dealership. I was worried I might face the same issue as someone in this thread had faced it earlier. Gladly in my standstill test for 3 days the car didn't lose even a percentage. These LFP batteries are really good at holding charge. My Ather loses 4% every 24 hours. Thanks for the suggestion, in case of this issue will factory reset the software.

I visited my dealer today. As per the sales advisor all Variants of Windsor have received a price raise of about Rs50000-60000.
Buyers whose car were delivered till now in January have received free charging offer. But I guess all of these including mine were Invoiced in December itself while the cars were still in transit. Actually most dealers in Delhi NCR were suggesting buyers to get their cars invoiced in December itself to save from increased prices and for free charging offer.
I think the company may have increased prices but free charging offer is still available. But I don't think that will be available for long.

These corporates are smart, they might have received insider news from rivals about the expected prices for their new EV launches

Also I found this on searching.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Congratulations to all the recent owners.
Seeing many deliveries happening recently and surprised actually. I thought with announcement of the M&M BE6 i thought there will be a slowdown in the sales of Windsor. Recent owners please share your thought process between the time of announcement of BE6 and taking possession of your Windsor.

Shouldn't the park brake remain 'ON' while parking?
It has been the same for me since I have bought the car. Never faced battery drain till now. Other owners please check and share their experience.

Thank you for the pointers. Can you please let me know how much did the ceramic coating set you back by and how many years warranty does it cover?

No, Then how will traffic police tow this car without damage?

Even mine turns off Park brake when car is locked. I assume Park brake in the app means all 4 disc brakes, whereas when car is locked only front brakes are applied and rear are not. People who are getting drain issue are seeing Park brake showing ON all the time when locked.

Price hike was coming. They have launched Windsor on relatively lower side. I don't think Vitara/Creta will be priced closely to Windsor, and Windsor being born EV has space advantage. So MG will definitely try to raise prices of Windsor. Also Windsor has reduced sales of ZS EV significantly. Raising 50k still makes it value for money, just they should stop forcing exorbitant insurance and accessories on customers.

I haven’t faced the drain issue till now. So I wondering if that is the real cause.
