I got the "7D" version as the accessories shops call them. They are really good quality and fit very well. Cost me 4800 and can't fault it. Much better than rubber matting but not sure what the company provides so can't comment on that.

I took it from showroom as an accessory. Those are wonderful. Costed something like 5.5k or so, do not remember exactly.

Fitting is perfect, has white MG logo near every seat, which gives good feel. I will defintely recommend getting original over aftermarket.

Looks like there are multiple tyre vendors, mostly CEAT and Goodyear. Maximum people are getting CEATs and some are getting Goodyears.

Goodyears are better and softer than CEAT securadrives, but one will get more life out of CEATs.

Child lock is there, Window lock is there. Window lock needs to be activated from screen, but it resets on every restart.

comparison
Just disable 'Approach Unlock' from settings and it will not lock/unlock based on proximity. Use it like regular car, locking and unlocking with remote control manually .

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hi all,

I got my Windsor end dec 25'. Since then I've been complaining to the dealer about the head unit, thr 15.6" display. It is very very bad. I've been experiencing lag. Android auto does not work always. Even if it connects, it keeps disconnecting every 2 seconds (yes. 2). In this process of connecting and disconnecting the entire unit hangs and becomes inoperable during this time, usually 20-30 mins. I can't change any other settings.

My last hope was the dealer promising a fota update at 1st free service. Even that happened. But absolutely no change. I've not been using Android auto to which I'm very used to ever since buying this car. This would've been a deal breaker for me but I didn't know before buying. It is really really annoying.

Is anyone else facing this issue?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

With more than 2000 kms behind the wheel on my Windsor EV, here are some default settings that have helped my driving experience:

1. Tyre pressure set to 32 psi on all wheels

2. Drive mode set to "NORMAL" for the most natural driving feel

3. Regen mode at "HEAVY" for city rides, and "NORMAL" for highway runs

4. The '*' shortcut button on the steering wheel configured to activate 360 camera

5. The energy chevron view on the instrument cluster set as default to help game your driving behaviour

6. "VOCALS" setting as default tone effect in the Infinity system for good listening experience for most music genres

7. Mute the "windsor mataji" who is eager to offer life advice

8. Zeon public chargers as a preference since it offers the most seamless free charging experience

I haven't seen this issue on my Windsor. Have you tried pairing this with a different phone?

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Same problem when my friend paired his iphone though not as bad as with my AA .

That you don't have that problem is good news. Problem might be solvable

I don't know if my TPMS is flawed but my tyre pressure keeps fluctuating. At times, it shows 35, then 37, then 34. Is this due to heat expansion during the day, which shows higher psi? and due to contraction at night, which shows a lower psi? Also, what difference did you face in keeping the tyre pressure at 32psi?

It is ideal check your car's tire pressure when the tyres are cold, which is before driving the car for the first time in the day. Compared to the dealer's setting of 37psi on delivery, I find significant improvement in the ride quality and noise level at 32psi.

Windsor hits a wall on its own after parking.
This is strange and shocking.
Guys, please be careful.

Wonder what happened here?

I have managed to reproduce this. I recorded one video doing this but no idea how to upload it on team bhp.

Basically it is 100% user's fault and not any glitch. It requires following 4 things to happen, and even missing out any one will not cause any issues:

1. User keeping driver's seat belt buckled up all the time or using some plug.
2. Driver not closing his door properly. There are two stages of closing the door, half and full. His door was closed at half stage. If one manually releases hand brake while door is half closed, creep mode is turned off and car is drivable if accelerator is pressed (and it drives wonderfully in this way ). He went to drive in this configuration.
3. After parking the car, he did not put in P mode, nor applied hand brakes manually. He relied heavily on auto park mode which happens on door open, which did not happen in this case due to door already being in half open state.
4. Closing the door properly, full close state. Car can not know if you are in or out of the car. Once door is closed properly, seat belt is ON, and car is in Drive mode, creep mode activates and this is what happened here.

There is one more evidence of this. If door was properly closed, car retracts external door handles upon going above 20kmps. once user tries to open the door from inside, he has to open the internal door handle twice, first one opens the central lock and second pull opens up the door. When central lock opens, it also extrends external door handles, and we can see external door handles were closed while he was exiting the car and he opened up external door handles using remote. Which suggests door was not fully closed when he was driving the car.

While trying to figure this out and doing some experimentation, I realised gear shift related safety is very well though off, superb I would say.

Having done 1900kms in 5 weeks, I will say car is awesome. No issues with Android Auto, I use samsung s23. No connection issues on Carplay on iphone 14, it is seamless. So seamless It auto connects and starts music the moment I sit in the car, Sometimes I need to disconnect carplay by going in the Device Management app on car screen and disconnect. Can anyone tell me if we can disconnect carplay from iphone itself? The only issue is Apple music jittering in carplay mode.

Regarding suspension, I think human body adapts to things. I am now very comfortable with the car and so is my wife without dead weight in the boot. We dont put our child in this car anymore currently. Seat cusions have softened up and are comfortable. I started feeling maybe even suspension has softened a bit after usage until we wanted to go somewhere with the kid few days back, took corolla altis and it felt like heaven, my god, the feeling of it floating like a magic carpet was amazing (when coming from Windsor). And vice versa, Windsor started feeling again stiff. Its most likely human adaptation, and surely impacts from which car you are coming from.

I too tried this and was able to reproduce.
Multiple mistakes on the part of the driver in the video. He tried his best to overcome all the checks that were there in the car to avoid this scenario.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

The charging of my battery using 7.2 kw charger is stuck at 99% for almost 10 mins. Is it ok to charge for 99% or should we wait for 100% charge. Does anyone else faced this issue while charging.

This is normal, it will take about 10-15 minutes for the final percentage as it is usually checking individual cells for balancing.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hello Windsor Owners,

Is the allocation of the car done by the dealer or directly by MG ?
Once car is allocated do we get a sms/mail from MG directly or the dealer informs us ?

When I check the booking status in MG site it shows as Jan first week , but we are in 3rd week already and still no sign of car allotment .
Whenever i call the dealer he says car is not allocated for me and will update us as soon as car gets allocated.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Please share some more info like when you made the booking, Color and location. It depends upon the region availability of models and colours. Specifically Turquoise green is in demand on most cities. While some may have more demand for black.

Allocation is not simple. It’s a combination of MG and dealership decision. The dealer gives MG what cars they have in stock and what they don’t along with a request for certain models and colours. Some colours are in demand and might eventually become available as MG starts increasing the output.

Best way around this is to have a good rapport with the Sales Person and manager. Maybe a visit and letting them know how you would appreciate if they can expedite on their end. Ask when they expect a car to be available and you can take one as soon as you can.
