Did anyone else also receive communication about the new T&C for eHub Free Charging from MG ?
https://www.mgmotor.co.in/vehicles/w...-and-condition
Yes, I have received it via WhatsApp today.

This will leave bad taste with the existing users who bought the car as per promises made by MG at the time of purchase. 1000 kW will allow 8000 kms approx free running. They should ethically held their end of the deal or atleast set a fair FUP of 15000 kms usage (1875 kW) or 1 year whichever is earlier.

Apparently, there is a new Fair Usage Policy now restricting free charging to 1000 units.
I wonder if it applies from the date mentioned in T&C or retrospectively to all owners since date of purchase.
Pretty scum move and I am pretty sure this can be challenged and fined upon in court.
This is gaining traction online. Someone has tagged Nitin Gadkari, requesting him to intervene.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

MG and Jio Pulse have hit a roadblock. No more free charging at Jio pulse. This is a major setback for free charging in Mumbai city as there are hardly any other options available. Free charging now feels just like a marketing gimmick.

Also, the revised terms limits the owners to only 1000 kw free charging benefits, which literally means free charging for appx 500 kms per month. As a customer I feel absolutely disgusted and cheated. How can a big brand like MG deceive its customers with such cheap strategy. Imagine the hustle that people went through to get the car before 31st December in order to get the benefits of free charging. Just to cover the short term losses, MG has put a big question mark on its credibility as a brand. This move should be and will be challenged in the Indian court of law.

I checked it just now in my Jio Pulse app and I was able to start the charging free of cost. Kindly check again and confirm if it really does not work for you.

It was showing low balance since past couple of days, but today it started working.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I was unlucky in a way. I had to rely on JioPulse chargers for my Goa trip. But exactly one day before issues started with JioBp and now one day later it is resolved!!

Also noticed JioPulse (20/kwh plus taxes) is expensive compared to Static( 12/kwh plus taxes). Even in malls where they are right next to each other.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hi Team,

Wanted to know if anybody found where the outside air temperature is displayed in the Windsor? Every other car had it in the MID. The Hector has it on the HVAC page but could not find the same in Windsor.

Yes correct. Outside air temp. is not visible in Windsor. Only place I could find it is in iSmart app, on clicking status on home page top left corner and then scrolling down at the bottom you will see Exterior Temp. mentioned. It is very very cumbersome and time consuming. MG should show it on instrument cluster itself as the sensor is already present.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hello Dear members

I have received a quote for 11.5K for sun tint film for my windsor essense.
Garware icycool for windshield and Garware international for other windows.
Ofcourse they mentioned it to be negotiable . Does the price sound correct ?
How much can I negotiate it further ?

Thanks,
sbs

Beware, Hyderabad traffic police started removing tints and levying penalty. Drive started from last week. They don't believe in VLT %. Any and every film is illegal for them. One of my acquaintance got caught few days ago.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I went for first service today where the service centre informed me regarding availablity of spare tyre kit.

It cost Rs 20000 but they are giving it for Rs 17500/ as part of some offer. I wanted to order immediately but after checking them i dropped out.

They are actually providing
1. Apollo Aptera 215/60/r17 tyre on steel rim.
2. Jack
3. Stand to fit in tyre. Essence variant has woofer. So you need stand so that tyre can fit in.

I checked the price of Goodyear Efficient grip tyre 215/55/r18 on Amazon they are available for Rs 12000/. An 18 inch alloy would be available for Rs7-8000. A jack took kit for Rs 1000-1500. So for the price of spare tyre kit I can buy a full size tyre with alloy and jack. But there would be two issues. No stand to fit in. Not sure if I will be able to find "EV grade" alloys or steel Rims

I was also thinking of starting a discussion on this topic.

Fixing the spare wheel stand above the sub woofer takes up lot of boot space as well. Is it possible to fit the subwoofer inside a steel wheel? In that case we can buy an 18” steel wheel and tyre (new or even used with fair thread). May be we will have to get a threaded rod with extra length made to fix both tyre and woofer together.

Have seen sub woofers which can be fixed inside the spare wheel. That is what initiated this thought. There should be some reason for the subwoofer made round in shape by MG.
I am yet to get my car delivered (expected by end of Feb). Will definitely be checking this option once it is with me.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

But we have to ensure that whatever arrangement will do Should ensure stability. Windsor has stiff suspension. And one of the side effects of stiff suspension is noise from stuff kept in the boot. It's just too noisy.
Even movement of portable charger kept in the boot while driving makes irritating noises

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Today I did a 100->1% battery usage drive on my Windsor Essense. The total distance I could cover is 237km. Full driving was on eco + heavy recovery mode(except the last 5% where i went to eco+). AC was On full time(21-23 C+Fanspeed of 2-4), android phone connected full time. FM/Music was on for half the distance.

160 km was on Highway with a speed maintained between 95 to 110 km (in cruise mode). Remaining 80Km was in city traffic and had to face bumper to bumper traffic multiple times.

What I observed was, in highway if you maintain speed of 80 it gives better mileage, but as you cross 95 it eats up the battery quite fast. If I had maintained a highway speed of 80, car would have given 15-25 km more.

I do not have any sun blinds/tints installed on the windows and temperature on highway during made me increase AC fan speed and lower temperature.

So during proper summer months it could be an issue, planning to install sun tints soon. This can reduce AC usage and increase the mileage possibly.

Then I did a full recharge at one go on my home installed 7.5KW charger. It took me 6 hours and 10 mins to be back at 100% charge. It took 43KWh units, I have a sub meter installed at the charger so can measure the units used during charging.

I got the sunfilms installed on my Windsor. It is a big relief. The difference is immense. It cost me 14800 for all windows, front and back windshields. Garware ice cool. Earlier while driving my hands used to burn because of sun, Now it is very pleasant. AC works more efficiently. Now many times after parking the car in sun, the interior of the car felt cooler than outside. This is one accessory worth spending on.

I have done 240km in 80% battery usage in almost similar conditions and on highway with 80-100 speed, instead of AC it was heater (Delhi to Bathinda).
Drove in normal mode, but no cruise control.

I think you should have gotten more range without cruise control, probably 260-270~
I tried cruise control a few times for 10-15km distances but could easily observe it taking more power from battery trying to constantly maintain the speed compared to self-acceleration.

Someone had made a real good post regarding cruise control and how companies need to improve it for EV to maintain a range of speed instead of fixed speed to not constantly draw power from battery.

I know it can feel a bit more taxing on long highways, but personally I would only use cruise control on a route I know have ample of charging points to not worry about range.

-----------------------------

On topic of spare wheel, I personally think taking MG's wheel is waste of space and money. Instead I am thinking to get a wheel from outside (new or used) and also a wheel cover (to protect boot from wheel dirt) and just keep the wheel as a normal luggage in boot.
Have seen it quite a lot of people do it as you would normally need to worry about a spare on longer routes, no need to carry it in day to day basis.
And even if kept as a normal luggage, it will still be better than raising the floor-mat of the boot to highest height to accommodate the wheel inside.

PS: Anyone has any update on the Parcel Tray/Shelf ? It was mentioned in accessory list but so far I have not seen it available, even out of india.
