Changing policy after selling is unethical. Whatever said, MGs overall business tactics are shady.

Lifetime warranty ONLY for first owner ensures little resale value, EV resale is loss provoking due to improving technology anyway.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

500 kms done with my Windsor EV.
We are highly impressed with the car, and somehow when travelling in traffic and I look around in the road and see ICE cars, I feel they are burning a hole in their pocket, burning all that fuel in their obsolete automobiles,
EVs do not even have an exhaust system, it feels so much like the future.
There are always people looking into the car and kids looking at the 15.6 inch screen in fascination.

When I floor the pedal, it goes off, even in Eco+ its sufficient when you get used to it.
And I do not feel the pinch to check the 'trip mileage' suffer after driving it aggressively which I usually do in my Petrol Invicto. As I have clearly restricted it to city driving, range anxiety is not a thing that is bothering me.

For the future-
I do not have to stop at a fuel station, which was becoming really a bother due to 4000 rupess going after just a 600-700km trip.
Just paying my house's electricity bill is so calm and relaxing as its a one time payment.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I recently did a Pune - Lonavala round trip of about 115 kms. I was driving on ECO+ heavy regen while going and ECO heavy regen while returning. I started at 67% and completed the full journey at 31%. That's 36% used for 115kms so by calculation 115/36 =3.194kms per percent. This would have resulted in 290-319kms of total range approximately.

Around 80-90kms of this was spent on the expressway. While going as I was on ECO+ mode, the max speed and average speed was 83 kmph. While returning, I was at 100kmph on the expressway. Rest was in the city, bumper to bumper traffic while going and moderate while returning. I did try turning on cruise control while driving on the expressway, but I couldn't figure it out, so I gave up and just squeezed the accelerator.

AC was fluctuating between speed 3-5 at 22 degrees while going and while returning as it was night, AC was at speed 1, 22 degrees. The moonroof was closed both times and I don't have any sun blinds or film installed. Two phones were charging both times. One on the wireless charger and one on the 60kw charger which I installed in the socket. I wasn't listening to any music but I have a front and rear dash cam working at all times. I also don't have a spare tire at the back.

Daytime the front headlamps were off, and at night, the LED headlamps were set to AUTO and level 1 for distance viewing with interior lights set to constant on. Tyre Pressure was 34.5 psi across all while journey started but while driving on the expressway when I checked it was showing 37-38Psi across all maybe because of heat.

No doubt, I was impressed by the range. I enjoyed the return more as ECO gave me more freedom. I got better range on ECO while returning by about 2% more battery but this may just be due to the AC being at fan speed 1 at night.

Also, this trip was decided all of a sudden so the 7.4KW charger came in handy. I was at 30% charge when we planned the trip and had like two hours before leaving. So I charged the vehicle with the 7.4KW charger for around two hours and topped up the vehicle to 67%. I am just happy with the amount of convenience I had with the fast charger. Initially, Iw as going for the mid model but went for top end because of the fast charger. I thought that getting it installed was tiring, increasing load, wiring etc. but glad I got it installed. Really helpful in such situations.

Overall, I just loved the whole experience. This is a breeze to drive. Very smooth and quiet car. The response of EV's is just fantastic. EV's and automatic are a match made in heaven. The simplicity of driving is unmatched. The cabin experience was also truly comfortable. Such amazing seats. My dad sat with me in the front and mum at the back and they were enjoying the journey. The car at high speeds doesn't run out of control or anything, very easy to handle. Even while driving at 90-100kmph on the expressway it felt like driving at 50kmph something. The control is just fantastic. Of course it's a EV so it is very economical. I mean the toll charges were more than the money spent on the entire drive, very interesting times.

Ohh, and I have to add, I was using google maps via carplay on that big screen during the entire journey as I didn't know the route to the destination and believe me, its the boon of the 21st century. Maps on that big screen is pure hassle free driving.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

MG Windsor - Initial Ownership Experience | Prime Auto MG (Kolkata) - A Disappointing Buying Journey

MG Windsor EV Review-whatsapp-image-20250217-3.06.15-pm.jpeg

Introduction: I finally took delivery of my MG Windsor on 24th January, but not without enduring a frustrating dealership experience with Prime Auto - Maheshtala (Kolkata). More on that later—first, let’s talk about the car itself!

Booking & Delivery Experience: I had booked the to Essence variant in white in the last week of November, with a stated waiting period of three months. However, by mid-December, after maintaining a polite but persistent follow-up, I was assured by the sales consultant that I would definitely receive the car by the end of December. I even sold my good old trust Honda City that was about to due for road tax & insurance basis his firm commitment

Unfortunately, the reality was different—I not only had to endure further delays but also had to compromise on the colour, ultimately settling for black.

The entire process was plagued by false promises, missed deadlines, and a severe lack of accountability. The delays extended to accessories as well, with the dealership failing to adhere to their own timelines and offering poor communication. Mind you, these were just the basic accessories like mud flaps & cabin mats.

Given that Prime Auto is owned by the promoters of Motherson Sumi, a globally reputed name in the automotive supply chain industry, I was astonished by the sheer lack of professionalism and organization. Would advise potential MG buyers in Kolkata to completely steer clear of this dealership.

Initial Impressions: Now, focusing on the car—it has been an impressive experience so far. Here are some key takeaways:

✔ Torque on Tap – No matter which mode you end up driving it in, even Eco+, there is more than enough oomph for city dwelling

✔ Spacious & Silent Cabin – The interior feels roomy, with generous rear seat space. Five adults can sit comfortably. Feels particularly comfortable as we are mostly tall folks at home. The silent cabin is a game changer and might I say luxurious experience

✔ Build & Material Quality – Both interior and exterior quality are commendable. The fit and finish, soft-touch dashboard materials, and paint quality surpass expectations. The body shell feels robust, and the doors shut with a reassuring thud.

✔ Great Value for Money – For the features and overall package, the Windsor offers one of the best value-for-money propositions in the EV segment. Period!

✔ Large Touchscreen (Mixed Feelings) – The size and brightness of the screen make it highly readable even under direct sunlight. However, the user interface has some lag, which could improve with future software updates.

No concerns at all w.r.t handling basic functions like ORVM adjustments. Once you get used to the steering-mounted controls, they work seamlessly for the same. Sure, there is a learning curve - but that's with all technologies!

Ride Quality: Running on 33 PSI tyre pressure all around as suggested by most of you. The ride quality is decent—neither too stiff nor too plush. There is some sideways movement on uneven roads, but overall, the suspension does its job well. Yet to experience highway dynamics.

Range & Efficiency: Getting around 200 km per full charge, even when driven in Eco+ mode with heavy regenerative braking activated.

Expecting an improvement after the first service. Would appreciate insights from other owners—is this typical, or could the tyre pressure (33 PSI) be a factor in the lower range?

Final Thoughts:
✔ The car itself is fantastic, but the dealership experience left much to be desired.
✔ Strong build, spacious cabin, and good features make the Windsor a compelling EV choice at even the increased price
✔ Still trying to optimize range—looking forward to feedback from fellow owners.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

We have a 11kW AC BMW charger available in our community which I have access to. Can I use it to charge the Windsor? Does the BMS automatically limit the power to 7.2kW?

The range you seem to be getting is quite low. I have driven about 4000 kms on my Windsor (mix of city and highways) and have been getting 280+ kms on average - I drive in Normal mode with Heavy regen.

Perhaps you should look at the Smart Drive section of the iSmart app to see how MG is rating your driving style - higher scores usually result in higher range. Transition of driving style from ICE to EV is a process of learning to modulate the brakes & throttle a bit differently. I have learnt to use regen as a means to drive in a almost single pedal mode.

There isn't much they do in the first service - just top up of coolant and shampoo - nothing that's going to change your vehicle's range.

I don't know how accurate this is because during my recent drive, as I was driving around 100kmph on the expressway, smart drive rated it very poorly, but I got a range of 3.19km per percent during this drive. Here is a picture of it.

87 is indeed a good score. Try driving aggressively and you will see scores in the 50s

Agree that the range of 200 is too less.
I get ~250-270km in city and ~280-300km in highway runs.
I am nearing 6000km. Recently did a 1400km round trip and average range was 305km for the entire trip. This drive was mainly down the western ghats, along the coast and back up (Mys-Mang-Goa and back). While getting back up the ghats the range dropped to ~1km/% of charge. On the contrary I gained 4% of charge while going down the ghat.
So the range you get is very dynamic and also sensitive to driving styles. You will start getting better range as u get used to the vehicle.
One of my friend has even done Mysore to Bangalore and back in a single charge and with 8-10% still remaining.

Predictive driving and Usage of regen braking intelligently will significantly help. Lesser usage of brake and more reliance on regen braking will increase the range (Means sedate driving). After all experiments, I am now not tinkering with modes and regen levels. It is always normal mode and heavy regen (the default setting). The level of regen can be controlled by pressure on the A pedal. Many times I coast with 0kw being used (or -1/2kw regen) by only partially releasing the accelerator.

I also think your range will stabilise with few cycles of slow charge. One thing that will certainly make a difference is religiously charging to 100% every time u charge. I found a significant difference when once I had a discharge upto nearly 7-8% and did a full charge to 100% using 16amp plug at home.

Initially I was also bit disappointed when I was getting range of 230-240km in city. Now feels better after taking the car successfully through a long trip and also improvement in city range.

MG Windsor wins the Green Car Award 2025 by ICOTY

The MG Windsor has won the much-acclaimed Green Car award 2025 by ICOTY making it the first EV from MG to achieve this feat. The Windsor won the award ahead of the first runner-up, the BMW i5 and the second runner-up, the BYD Seal.

MG Windsor production crosses the 15,000 unit milestone

MG has announced that the Windsor EV has crossed the production milestone of 15,000 units.

MG Windsor EV Review-mg-windsor.jpg

The MG Windsor was launched in September of last year. It is MG’s third pure electric offering after the ZS EV and Comet EV. It was the best-selling electric vehicle during the 4 months starting October 2024 to January 2025.

According to Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, the company is increasing the capacity of its Halol plant to meet the rising demand for the Windsor.

Besides this, the facility is being modified in preparation for new products under MG Select due for launch in the first half of this year. These include the M9 electric MPV and the Cyberster electric sports car.

“We are undertaking certain facility modifications to ensure readiness for new products under MG Select which is due for launch in the first half of this year. Hence, we anticipate a production slowdown during the month of February, which may temporarily affect our wholesales during this period”, Balendran said.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Amazing car, I got my Windsor last week and we are in awe of the car and the price point it comes at!
17L for top model with accessories? Are you kidding me?
Such big space, boot and features.
Very premium experience, even small touches like
One-touch up down for all 4 windows, handles electronically popping out unlike Curvv, etc. are just so good.
Power is healthy too and zips through a gap easily

isn't 237km a bit less? We average about 245-255km with around 12-18% range left,
I assume highway usage has its impact on it?
Did you try cruise control? And May I know how heavy footed did you drive? I have noticed even in Sports mode if you accelerate very gradually, its using very less battery.

The Windsor EV has a 38KWH battery - how did you end up consuming 43KWH? AC to DC conversion loss?
