If you see this receipt I have consumed 28.46 units. But I charged from 32 to 98% which should have consumed 25.08 units (66% of 38kw). This is DC charging.
As a principle I expect some losses while charging the battery, converting AC to DC etc. There will definitely be a difference in the amount of power drawn and amount of power that gets stored. But whether this much is acceptable I don’t know. Someone more knowledgeable can shed light on this.

They are actually providing
1. Apollo Aptera 215/60/r17 tyre on steel rim.
2. Jack
3. Stand to fit in tyre. Essence variant has woofer. So you need stand so that tyre can fit in.
Alright, so I actually went for the spare tyre kit only.

I was too worried that any "Jugaad " fixes would lead to excessive noise in the boot compartment. And a spare tyre I feel is a mandatory essential all of us must have.

When I checked the prices of individual parts. The stand is really big one and heavy and it comes with thermocol foam. The MRP on the stand itself is Rs 8,883 and Jack is another Rs 1200.

Apollo Aptera hp 215/60/r17 tyre comes for Rs 8,000/ lowest on checking online. Add Rs 3,000-4,000 for steel rim.

So at Rs 17,500 after the offer, the spare kit seems decently priced.

Yes, it reduces the boot space by raising the floor (Around 3 inches).

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Anyone has any idea how often are software updates or fota updates pushed out by MG? Has the windsor received any software updates till date? Also, is there an official place or forum where we can request for features? Like I would really appreciate if the screen turned on sooner and the car started in the mode of my choice instead of normal mode.

Found this in the Windsor EV manual. So the next upgraded version or the 50KWH version should have an automatic tailgate with the feature of max opening position. There is also a tab above that shows Driving Assistant, which is probably the ADAS. So, ADAS should also come to this vehicle in the future.

Another thing I found was in the creeping section where it said the automatic parking function should be turned off. So I guess automatic parking should also be coming to future Windsors. There is also a mention of an intelligent assistance function which I guess is related to ADAS.

You can get better range by reducing the regen level and avoiding cruise control. Looks counter intuitive but there is solid reason for this

Took the test drive again within 30 mins (thanks to very supportive SA) in the same route and felt the same.

On Saturday took test drive (this time along with my Father and Wife occupying back seat and SA along with me front seat) again in our home town (Guntur). This time the test drive is for longer duration (4 - 5 Kms on not so good roads and 10-12 Kms on NH). While my father really appreciated the back seat comfort and space on offer, my wife said she didn't feel comfortable with ride quality on those roads with pot holes. She said though the seat itself is very comfortable, the ride isn't settled and she felt nausea for a brief moment.

Now we have second thoughts with our booking and we decided to take the test drive again in next few days before taking a call.
Ride comfort depends on the car that you are currently driving. I have Punch so I feel it's not that bad. Someone using sedan will not like it.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

I have a question regarding charging practices. Is it okay to always charge my Windsor using the 7.4KW charger. I don’t have an outlet for the 3.3KW charger as of now and the 7.4KW charger is more convenient. Has anyone done it with any other EV, like a Nexon or XUV. Is it harmful or is it alright?

Perfectly fine to charge with 7.4 kW charger as that also qualifies as slow charging. In fact till 22 kW, it qualifies as slow charging and LFP batteries love slow charging as that degrades them slowly as compared to DC fast charging.

Wait, what? Upto 22KW is slow charging. I thought 7.4KW was certified as fast charging. Happy to know this

Basically AC charging= Slow charging

DC charging = DC Fast charging

The faster you charge, higher is the toll on battery, thermally.

So the size of the battery doesn't matter or come into play? Like a 7.4KW charger for a 38KWH Windsor is kinda fast but for a 80KWH battery like on a Mahindra or BYD it's quite slow.

I see your point it makes sense. 22kw AC fast charging in a BMW is definitely faster than the peak 18KW DC fast charging in the Tiago.EV. But the method of charging is different at play, AC vs DC so that makes the difference I suppose.

Have fun!
I have been using the spin ev app lately but it is asking me to upgrade the charger in the app by paying Rs.7000 to access internet functionality, remote charging etc. was it the same case with you? Did you pay 7K to unlock these features or was it pre unlocked?

I recently asked Exicom helpline to let me know how to adjust the charging speed in order to reduce the maximum kW at which charging can take place, as that option doesn't seem to work on Spin app. They said it can only be done by their service technician and we can't change as we like. It will be a pain to call service technician every time to reduce or increase the kW limit. Seems the 7000 Rs plan also doesn't offer that convenience. So, I am getting a 16 A plug socket installed next to the 7.2 kW charger, and I will be using it most of the times for charging, instead of 7.2 kW charger. This is purely to avoid the total kW load on my electricity connection from shooting above the contract load of 9.9 kW during summer.
unplugged is online now   (3) Thanks

No, this was without any payment. After installing the app, I used the QR code on the warranty card (unique to every spin charger) to connect and everything worked fine. I dont have internet access to my charger. I can configure everything over bluetooth including scheduling etc.

Typically I connect the car in the evening on the day when I need to charge and schedule the charging from 1 AM (past midnight) so that when I get up, its ready.

Alternatively, say I know 40 kWh would be required when the battery is just below 10%, I fix the charge to 40 kWh followed by auto shut down, I always find the car with 97 to 98% charged in the morning.
