Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

The Curvv, Nexon EV and ICE are both based off the old platform. Tata can rename it to whatever they want. The Currv is an extended Nexon period. This can be told from the multiple reviews which indicate that they both ride and handle very similar.

What Tata has been doing is incremental advances. Higher capacity battery, new architecture, new battery technology, Higher charging speeds, new infotainment etc. They are probably doing this doing all of the above at one go would need a lot of resources and moolah!

I expect this all to culminate in the Tata Sierra that they will launch by end 2025.

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Has anyone here booked or taken delivery of the Nexon 45KWh version yet?

My SA is telling me that they have one available for delivery in a week's time.

You might be the lucky first. Do not forget to do a through PDI before paying any money (beyond booking amount).

I too have booked the Nexon Fearless 45.
My car is in transit.
SA says confirm delivery by Dhanteras.

Do share your quotation and any discount you got.
Please do a proper PDI.

With the current events over pricing and competition in EV space, I strongly feel Nexon EV should be discontinued as it unnecessary clashes with Curvv. Rather, Curvv pricing should be dropped or a lower battery spec Curvv launched, keeping the tight fight with Windsor, that is competing with Nexon and Curvv together. The Battery should be upgraded on the Punch.ev as it is too small in range to get upmarket with the same price point maintained.

Curvv, like Windsor, is too big for many people. Nexon, at least to me, is perfectly proportioned to be useful as a single family car. Punch and tiago are much too cramped and Curvv is much too big.

Tiago EV is more spacious compared to Nexon Ev and Punch EV. Check them out back to back and you will realise how much the floor mounted battery has eaten into the cabin space.

The reason I said that is that they are not only hurting each other's sales but also are falling victim to similar priced cars like Winsor. I agree with your point of view that it fits you perfectly, but economies may not for Tata Motors.

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Hello everyone. I booked the Tata Nexon EV Empowered LR+ (the 40 KW variant) for on road 16.75L a week ago. What do you guys think about the new 45 variant? Would it be worth paying a premium for 5 more kW? This will be my first EV so I am a little less familiar with the specifics.

One more question I had from the folks who looked at both the 40kW and the new 45kW variants, is there any difference in the rear seat flooring?
For example, in the MR variant, the rear seat was flatter than the LR variant as the LR battery was causing the floor to be a bit elevated. Wanted to know if the new 45kW vehicle has a similar kind of 'floor bump' due to the battery.

This is my first reply on this wonderful website, so please excuse any formatting errors I made. Glad to be a part of such a vibrant community

Hi Shaundub,

The one place where the adage "bigger is always better" is very true is with EV batteries. Please think of the extra money being paid to be the premium for a better battery cell technology along with the additional 12% larger capacity.

In terms of the rear floor height, going by Tata Motors press release, there shouldn't be any additional rise as the improvement in capacity is due to better cells and their packaging within the same casing as opposed to a physically larger battery pack.

If in doubt, you can check out the floor height in one of the Dark Red edition cars that the dealer is bound to have for display purposes.

Cheers on your new buy and wishing you happy and safe motoring.

Buying the 40 kWh variant no longer makes sense. It's worth paying a premium for a 45kWh variant, which can be charged much faster. Also, Tata claims the 45kW prismatic battery has better reliability than the cylindrical battery of 40kW. It would be stupid to buy the 40kWh variant now.

As a fellow team BHPian, my honest request would be to cancel your booking for the 40kW variant. It is not only the bigger battery but the packaging in the 45 kW. I don't know your use case, but if you are ok with the car size, then Windsor is anyday a better choice over Nexon at 14-17 Lakhs price bracket.

For everyone else, is there a true range test video for the Nexon 45 kW?
