Going for the 40KW doesn't make sense in this era of larger battery packs. You better go for the 45KW battery variant as interior space doesn't matter and compact footprint makes it better to drive around and park. Also as mentioned Cylindrical cells make for space saving and better package is a worthwhile upgrade.

Windsor, though is on a more advanced Skateboard platform has a smaller battery pack and is priced same. Major advantage you get over the Windsor is range anxiety. Also service cost and spare parts price of the TATA is much cheaper and widely available than MG.

None that I know of. The cars are just coming off production line and TM hasn't made this launch much of a media event, so don't think we will be getting the reviews from the usual channels any time soon.

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

I was at the Tata.EV Store/Workshop, Sec 14 Gurugram, Service center yesterday for my car's service. There were multiple Nexon 45 in the showroom yard. I counted 9 - 2 Dark with Red interiors, 3 Fearless, 4 Empowered+. They didn't have any 30KW or 40 KW variants in stock. The battery pack of the car is from Tata Autocomp Gotion Green Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd.

I clicked some pics

Hi. congratulations. I just got the 45kw mode empowered variant for 16.5l. going by that if you are willing to sacrifice just the panaromic sunroof and ventilated seats you will be able to get the 45 kw model with fast charger for another 20k which i think is a worthy upgrade in the long run.

In terms of the rear floor height, going by Tata Motors press release, there shouldn't be any additional rise as the improvement in capacity is due to better cells and their packaging within the same casing as opposed to a physically larger battery pack.

If in doubt, you can check out the floor height in one of the Dark Red edition cars that the dealer is bound to have for display purposes.

Cheers on your new buy and wishing you happy and safe motoring.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my question in such a timely manner. It is very much appreciated. I broached the subject with my father, and we are now considering cancelling the booking for the Empowered+ LR (40kW) and going for the Empowered 45 variant instead. I was sort of excited for ventilated seats being in Delhi, but paying 18L seems like a steep price. I had already stretched my budget to the max.

Thank you for the reply. The Windsor is indeed unmatched in space, but the look of the car is just too polarising to me. The Nexon looks much better in my opinion.

Hey Doc, congrats on your purchase!! My father and I are thinking along similar lines as explained by you. Was sort of hyped for ventilated seats but I suppose I can live without it. Honestly I don't care about the sunroof at all. If there was an option to purchase an EV Nexon with 360 camera and no sunroof, I'd buy that one, but unfortunately that's not an option. I'll go and talk to the dealer about the Empowered 45. Thank you for your response.

I went to Tata Motors, Mumbai and the Sales Guy gave me a pricing of Rs. 17.96 Lakhs for Empowered Plus and Rs. 17.13 Lakhs for Empowered. As per him the empowered variant does not come with a charger and it needs to be purchased separately for Rs. 40-50K. This is very stupid then, because with additional Rs. 20K I get a top variant with additional features and the Fast Charger installation. Is the Sales Guy confused? What is the pricing for Empowered Plus you got?

So each prismatic cell is a Gotion 150 Ah cell, that's a 10x increase over the 15 Ah Gotion cylindrical cell that they had earlier. This is also the exact cell that is used in the Curvv 55 kWh EV.

Remember Octillion is not a battery cell maker but a battery pack maker.
These Gotion cells are rated for 1C continous charge and upto 2.25C when it's pulse charged based on temperature rise.

Nexon 45 kWh will have 96 cells in series and each cell cost about $ 32 in Alibaba after going through multiple middle men.

But Tata will be buying from Gotion directly without middle men. So their price will be even cheaper.

I guess the SA was talking about the fast charger that comea bundled with the Empowered+.

I got the final quote for empowered+ for 17.7L in Bangalore. Still working out whether to take the jump to plus or just feel empowered with what i can afford.

The Mrs is fida over the Sunroof and the ventilated seats, which costs quite a fancy penny more.

Just got the delivery yesterday. So the quote I got was 16.6 for the empowered 45 after a lot of negotiation. Yes it does not come with a fast charger, but then it is difficult to install a 7.2 kwh charger where I live anyway. So I decided to get the empowered variant now and get a fast charger down the lane if I felt its need being essential. But based on your quotes then I guess 70k extra for the empowered plus sounds like a better deal.

Congratulations on the delivery, Doc. On which item did you get the discount on, insurance? Also what colour did you get?

Yes it was on insurance. The RTO charges in tamilnadu is like 2.5k only. So I got an insurance quote for 58k from an outside agent and asked the showroom to match it.

Congratulations on your car delivery. Wish you many happy miles. This seems to be a very good choice.

I was confused to choose between this and the Windsor and have booked the Windsor as my requirement is mostly within City premises. This is an equally good car if not better in terms of range, sound quality, suspension and steering feedback.
