Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Hello everyone. Upon considering the advice of fellow EV-heads on this website, I decided to change my booking from the Empowered + LR (40kW) to the Empowered 45 variant instead. Thought that the features in the Empowered+ variant were not worth paying an extra 1L for. The dealer quoted me 16.86L with an insurance of 68k. Went to the AIG building nearby and they quoted their top plan for me at 49k.

So, I'm looking at an overall expense of 16.67L, and I'll probably grab the extended warranty when it comes out. Hopefully it's not much more than the 35k price for the 40kW variant. Thoughts?

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Dear all,

I had booked the empowered Plus 45 variant of Nexon Ev on 20/09/2024, and it has reached the dealer. I did a PDI yesterday as per the team BHP checklist, and found the vehicle satisfactory. Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range-9048ff87dd5c48a687713b683dfdff1a.jpegTata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range-642184ba034a4b029ffe99c54d02e6d6.jpegTata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range-d1a0200eff944187b4b988de6bb4cc68.jpeg

Panel gaps were uniform as far as i can notice, ODO was at 12km, 31% charge and showing range of about 130 km. Rest electricals and accessories were functioning normally, apple carplay gets connected wirelessly. So i cleared the payment, and noted the VIN, vehicle is manufactured in October 2024.

total cost was
1699000 ex showroom,
60514 insurance ( 3 year Third party and 1 year OD)
87225 RTO charges ( Kerala charges 5% as road tax )
16990 TCS
750 for fastag

The insurance was from TATA and provided by SBI general insurance, it has battery protect also, verified the wordings of policy including flood related damages - similar to engine protect of ICE vehicles,

Accessory i selected were 7D mats and boot mat, it was 10400 total, rejected all beadings, roof rails, ceramic coating, door sills etc, discounts i got was - as it was a new model ,they were not providing much discounts, i got 20,000 as discount for rooftop solar and 50% discount on accessories.

I paid 1849000 in total.

Now the formalities of RTO registrations are going on, will be delivered in the first week of November.

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Finally brought our Nexon EV Fearless 45 home.
In one word the car is amazing.

It is our first ev or may I say first AT car.

It is a very smooth experience.

The suspension provides a confident and compliant ride.

The SPORT mode is just exhilarating.

We are currently averaging 140wh/km.

Will update the thread once we experience the car in more detail.

PS:- Planning a 350km round trip. Let’s see how it goes

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Hi everyone. Could someone please point me towards the Team BHP EV checklist? Is it the Tata Punch one shared on this forum? Or is there a separate one for the Nexon EV??

For the Nexon, we can use the same checklist as the Punch.EV's.

Will surely do sir

So completed our first long journey with an EV.
It was a total of 425km round trip.

The car performed well.
The suspension smoothed all the unexpected “crates” on the Western Peripheral Expressway.

We started with full charge and took our first break after 150km (SOC:53%).
Attempted to charge the vehicle at 3 different EV stations, found success with the Statiq one (but funnily no money got deducted from the wallet).
TATA Power one didn’t respond somehow and didn’t detect gun being attached to the car.
Charged for 20 minutes to 74%

Continued the journey and later charged the car when SOC came to 43%
Used Jio BP charger 50kWh charger for 17kW worth of battery in around 25-35 minutes I guess to top to 78%

Drove the car like a ICE ie. with AC on and in range 90-100kmph. Combined with short burst of high speed of 120kmph (this is legal limit of WEP Expressway)
Final stats:-

Did you get the free public charging documentation for 6 months offer that Tata had rolled out for the festive season? It could be that?

Also what was the highest AEC you saw during your trip?

No when I chose option of free charging in the TATA Power App, charging gun was not able to connect to the car and the App froze.

My highest AEC was around 180Wh/km
Sorry don’t have any photos for the same.

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Found a new thread on Twitter day before yesterday where a new Nexon ev owner faced significant issues on a 350 km trip from Bangalore to Chennai. The quirky thing about that story was that the car range was unpredictable after it went down to 25 percent. Does anyone know the reason for such behaviour? I felt it was the BMS coding at fault trying to preserve range while there was something unusual with the cell discharging performance.

I found that user has done fast charge below 80, BMS is not charging all cells evenly and until 80 percent the voltage is too linear and there is slight jump in voltage from 80-90 and post 95 there is drastical voltage jump. I always prefer to charge the car atleast 90-95 percent. If it's oppurtunity charging.
So that even if I receive LIMP mode..I'll receive well below 20 percent and critical error below 10 percent. If Tata has masked these alerts. Even then I could drive the car safely till 8-10 percent.

Don't worry it happens in a new car as the battery balancing might have not happened. After taking it down and then slow charging will properly calibrate it and will show proper range.
