Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Looking for experience around these two things:

1) Did someone deal with a tyre puncture yet? Did you go for the regular repair or a mushroom punture repair. I was suggested to go for a mushroom repair which is not common and couldn't find many tyre repair folks who can do it.

2) What are the experiences during and post the recent software upgrade. Most of the service centers here in Pune are saying it takes 12-13 hours for normal upgrade and one has to leave the car in the service center for two days. Is that the same experienced by everyone? What about post upgrade- any challenges, issues faced by anyone?

Thanks a lot in advance.

I got my BE6 upgraded and completed the first 2K service all in a single day. Since the software upgrade is done partwise, it usually takes much longer but again, it also depends on the rapport you have with the EV Relationship Manager.

Apple CarPlay is now enabled, and the user interface is noticeably more intuitive than before. These are the visible changes, but issues like the AC blower turning off during calls have also been resolved. If we check with the EV Relationship Manger, he might share more details about the other improvements made.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I heard that 9e Pack3 "Select" varient units are scheduled to arrive to dealers in Bangalore this week and deliveries could be as early as next week.
Expectedly the bookings for 9e Pack3 Select is a handful across dealers in Bangalore while BE6 Pack3 Select bookings has reasonable demand and had compensated the overall numbers for the dealers. I would say it is a "no-brainer" because BE6 Pack3 Select comes under 25L and would get road tax exemption. I too was planning to go for BE6 P3 S varient but ended up booking 9e Pack2 instead because wife liked 9e. I also wholeheartedly agreed with the logic that all our cars needn't be coupe design and clusterophobic at the rear. Hopefully the Pack2s are on schedule to be delivered on July.

You heard this from your dealer? I've booked a pack 3 select, in that case I'll ask mine too.

1) Mushroom puncture is recommended for these tyres . I had gotten a puncture before I knew this, so I got a regular puncture and it is going fine so far.

2) Carplay has been added and there is a huge improvement in the audio system, which is much more noticable, in 3D immersive mode with bass and subwoofer turned up in the custom EQ because by default I think the subwoofer is turned off.

I personally take my cars to the service centre and supervise them while they do any work on my car. Also, I have a decent rapport with the Mahindra Cotek so in total it took them 2.5 hours to update the software in my car. The fastest they can do it is probably 2 hours as first they do flashing using laptop and then there are 4 pendrives.

But some cars did throw up issues in recognising or installing the update and they took more hours or even days. There are no new issues post update.

Hi Beemer, since you have an Audi A4 and I too have one (the currently selling b9.5 version), I was wondering if you could compare some aspects of the two cars. How do the NVH and the music system in your XEV 9e compare to that on your Audi? Which trim of the A4 do you have?

Lastly, how has your overall experience been with the XEV 9e? Have there been niggles, serious or otherwise, quality issues like misaligned metal panels, bad paint job, etc?

I am considering either the XEV 9e or the BE 6E but I'm traditionally wary of Mahindra's and Tatas considering the horror stories I have heard from owners.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Mahindra XEV 9e New Trims Coming Soon: this looks interesting and don't know when , better they announce soon and not disappoint the current buyers yet to get delivery.

According to the documents, the Mahindra XEV 9e will get three new battery combinations, that is, XEV 9e Pack Three B59 and XEV 9e Pack Three Select B79, the B59 being the base trim. This soon-to-be-launched update has added a smaller battery option for the Pack Three trim and a larger battery option for the Pack Three Select trim.

I was under the impression that the fan speed automatically reduces during calls to minimize ambient noise. Is this an intended feature or a bug? Is there a way to disable this in the settings? I noticed there’s a “Reduce Fan Speed” toggle in the call settings, but it seems to reset with each new call.

There are few other things I noticed.

1) The EPB auto disengages even when the driver seat belt is not fastened.
2) The stop button does not turn off the ignition, when the vehicle is in "D", "N" or "R". We need to put in "P" to be able to switch off the car.

These are in contradiction to standards and even the manual.

Does anyone else have these observations?

I have a B9.5 Audi A4 as well which was bought in October 2023. It’s the premium variant which is the base variant.

NVH - Sure, the doors on the Audi have a better thud and one feels more cocooned inside but 9E has pretty heavy doors itself. NVH is way way better in 9E since it is an EV, it has acoustic + UV filtration glasses all and it also has noise cancellation in the audio settings menu.

Music System - Since I have the base variant Audi, I get the standard Audi sound system which is pretty basic. Technology gets Bang & Olufsen which is said to be one of the best but I have never heard it personally.

9E gets a 1400W 16 speaker Harman Kardon sound system which is just amazing and pretty much close to 1 cr cars. Someone on the owners group said its pretty close to the Bowers & Wilkins in a Volvo XC90. The EQ settings have to be adjusted but 9E has the best sound system under 1 cr and it is the best aural experience I’ve ever had.

Suspension: Audi has a very very absorbent suspension and its comfortable over potholes as well. It is more confidence inspiring too. 9E has a great suspension but sometimes it’s bouncy

Features: 9E has everything under the roof

Interior Quality: Obviously, the Audi is better and interior is really high quality compared to 9E.

Performance: 9E is crazy fast and feels much more responsive than Audi

Overall experience with the car has so far been great. Only small software niggles are there but they don’t effect the driving experience or ownership. Paint quality is good but it was not as good as Germans. Misaligned panels and panel gaps are to be expected with Mahindra.

Both BEVs are very different cars here as one is only for self driving and one is for overall comfort. The horror stories are over saturated and the car has been reliable for most people.

I have also noticed these things. Ideally when stop button is pressed vehicle should Automatically go into P MODE, but it is not allowing to switch off until P is pressed.
Also I could not find “Reduce Fan Speed” toggle. Can you send screenshot of it??

I have a feq questions:
1. Disconnect the seat belt to get off the car and speak to someone (typical of jams) and the EPB gives up?
2. Why does one need to put the vehicle in N only when the vehicle is still? What's the fuss with this? This is not a traditional auto transmission is it?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Have anyone tried using PEN DRIVE OR HARD DRIVE in glove box so as to start recording continuously. I was told by Sales executives that when we connect Pen Drive or Hard Drive it automatically becomes DVR, but I am unable to see this happening. Does it require activation somewhere in settings or is this feature yet to come??

Sales person has misguided you. That port is just to retrieve any videos saved on the car by the 360 degree camera. For the time being, you will need a dashcam for continuous recording. Cannot comment if after a software update, all 5 cameras can do a continuous recording.

Hello Luciemissie,

Question about the charger & meter installation. Did you apply for a separate meter? If yes, how long did it take for meter installation? Is it Adani or Tata POWER OR MSEB?
I have Adani and am looking to have a separate meter for 11kW charger. Current sanctioned load is only 8.01kW, 3phase which is grossly insufficient.

Appreciate your help!
