Bad idea. One of my friend's Tiago EV's motor got replaced for the same reason as company stated that there was water ingress due to high pressure washing. I know totally bull***t reason but they were ready to deny warranty based on this claim but eventually he got the motor replaced under warranty itself.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

So I am facing a unique issue on charger installation. The survey team cannot begin their work till they are able to determine where the meter would be and then start drawing the line from the meter. However, I plan to apply for a separate EV connection from Tata power. The reason being that my home connection is single phase 8kw, and I don't want to increase the load (for the 11kw charger, as the 7kw one will not come for a few weeks post deliveries start at least) , thereby increasing my monthly fixed costs. Much better to have a separate EV connection, which has no fixed monthly charges and 4.5 INR per unit usage charges only.

Tata power mandates that the EV vehicle bill is attached with the application. So my application submission is pending. So only post the car is billed and delivered, can I submit the connection application. Post the new connection installation the survey and charger installation process can begin. Any one who can suggest a solution to this delay?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Did anyone notice in-consistant rotational appearance of alloy wheels on both sides of the vehicle?
I communiucated with Mahindra regarding the same and they replied that feedback will be shared with design team.

Being an EV car, will it create effect on the aerodynamics?

All wheels with asymmetric spoke designs have this issue. They look "right" only from one side. Would love to know if there are any cars where the wheels have been designed correctly for both the sides.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

It is normal, all 4 tyres are connected to wheels the same way. Just that they are tied to car in opposite direction, east and west edges will be interchanged !!

A little OT:

What struck me the most was the placement of the video camera on the dash and the focal length used for recording. It almost seemed fake, you know, the way movies with car scenes were shot 60-70 years back...the car is stationary and a painted background is moved fast to give an impression of speed.

It also seemed too smooth, is the suspension that good or is the gimbal?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I dropped an email to Mahindra customer care e-mail address, enquiring -
"What is the range of an ambient temperature within which XEV 9e is designed to operate?"
Surprisingly, they advised to contact nearest dealership.

In regards to your query, we request you to visited the nearest Mahindra authorized dealership for further assistance.

How come manufacturer divert such a query to dealership!

Does anyone know ambient temperature envelope to operate XEV 9e?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Started getting calls from Mahindra dealership that the first lot has arrived and are asking to complete the payment. Not in town till end of first week March though so will take time. Anyone else yet invoicing calls? Curious as to the negotiation on Insurance because that's the only issue I see with the On road pricing.

The unfortunate part is that there is no legal recourse. The Guideline on Motor Insurance Service Provider (https://irdai.gov.in/document-detail?documentId=386178) issued by the IRDA that prevents dealers from forcing insurance on customers is just that, a guideline.

The IRDA has no regulatory oversight on dealers and thus, I don't think we can approach, or even threaten to approach them for help. Refer for more details - https://corporate.cyrilamarchandblog...or-regulation/

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Can everyone please share the insurance quotes shared by the dealership for XEV 9E Pack 3?

My dealership has mentioned 2,15,517 for the insurance which is 1 year OD + 3 year TP + Zero Dep + Essential add ons. Funnily enough they have included the charger’s price to calculate the insurance price.

While I feel earning a bit of money on insurance is fine for the dealership, but inflating is 3-4x is just crazy. As per policybazaar, insurance should be around 53-70k for the car.

Heck, I doubt even a brand new X5’s insurance doesn’t cost 2L.

Mahindra insurance quotes have been on higher side. Close to ₹2 lakh insurance for ₹30 lakh ex-showroom car is just insane. I am told by SA that deliveries are being prioritized for high value customers for XEV 9E. These customers might be willing to pay higher insurance price or get some discount for quicker deliveries.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I have been told that they will match the quotes I provide or at least be in the ballpark which I have said I am fine with. I have taken quotes from Aig and ICICI and provided them the same to match. Both were around 75-80k with all options including zero dep, tyre protection and battery protection added. Mahindra had initially quoted 1.7 L which is insane.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I spoke to my sales rep and he told me that Nebula Blue, which i want, could take some time. If I am OK to shift to White, he can offer that quickly. He doesnt have a timeline for Blue yet.

He also mentioned that the waiting period is 4 months now.

I made a comment on the high insurance cost, and he said it's because the battery is so expensive. I didnt really press him on it since the delivery seems to be months away, so it's a fight to be picked for some other time.

Took a short test drive once again and I'm convinced even more I've made the right choice.

I tried to do Auto Park but he said that it only works when grid lines are there on the ground, like in a parking lot. I tried anyway, it seemed to be searching but didn't find any slot to park. Didn't really try it beyond a few seconds.

If that is true, the utility of this feature goes down. I would want to use this feature in tight parking spots on Mumbai roads to make parking easy. Parking in well-defined and marked spots in a building or a mall is rarely a big challenge. Indeed, it would be faster for me to park than wait for the system to detect and then park.
